Default fab but not fit

Hi, I'm going to do it this year, whatever comes. Need all the support I can get. I need to lose (and not find again) 60-70lbs. Seems like so much, don't even know where to start. How to find something that works. Help.

My advice is to read, read and then read some more. I scoured the board until I people who seemed to be more in my situation. Having said that I often lurk in the 100 lb club because I find some really good advice - not to mention inspiration - there.

Good luck and

Hi Sissie!

Def read around the site, see the different things people are doing and, meanwhile, also ask yourself some questions along the lines of what are you willing to do, what can you do physically, what can become a part of your life and routine, as opposed to a quick fix. Consider if you would feel more comfortable with an established program/plan or if you want to make a plan of your own (i.e., boiling down "eat less, move more" to what specifically that would mean to you). Think about what foods you are willing to eliminate, what you can substitute, what you can add, etc. Think about what you can do to move your body more, even if it means you can move or sustain exercise for only 10 minutes at a time...that becomes 10 minutes more than you're doing now. And don't feel overwhelmed with the idea that you have to make drastic changes overnight. Small, simple changes can add up....or perhaps I should say subtract down, lol....nicely. Try to find things that you can not just live with but enjoy and look forward to. If you do something that frustrates you and leaves you feeling deprived, it will backfire bigtime.

Oh, and break down your goals and steps. Don't think about losing 60 pounds right now. Think about losing 5-10. Losing 10 pounds is a goal that you can achieve sooner and once you've achieved it and know you can do it, you just think about doing it a few more times, losing the next 10, and so on. If you are capable of exercise for only 10 minutes, start with that, and work your way up as you go along. And move even when you normally wouldn't think about it. You can exercise with the tv on. Or put on some good music and dance. Do some indoor walking if you can't get out. Pop in an old exercise video you might have lying around.

It really is a three-fold endeavor...physical, mental and emotional. Sometimes one or two has to work a little harder than the others or sway the others but when they're in sync about what you want and what you're doing, it makes things easier.
