Default Three Days Old and Ready to Launch

I originally posted with the title 40 Something in this Forum, but it wasn't really my introduction. I am a 40 something who would like to establish a Forum for 40 Somethings and wonder if there is any interest or perhaps one exists and I have not found it... Like others I lurked around for awhile (3 days) trying to get my bearings and I think I am ready to launch now.

I have yo yoed my weight up and down the scale after having children in my early 30s and now at 46 need to get serious about staying at a healthy weight and eating properly instead of eating whatever is handy in portions that are too large! I also need to recommit to structured, consistent, daily exercise which I have not done for several years. I always used the "There isn't time." excuse. Well, it's pretty apparent now if I don't make the time, I will only continue to take up more coordinates on the grid system.

I am struggling with maintaining a consistent effort, and hope that putting my struggle in print where others may see it, will motivate me to stay on task. I've read in a few books/magazines that this technique seems to work for many. I welcome any tips which will help me organize my day, menu planning, grocery shopping, etc. from those of you who are more successful staying on task!!! Thank you to everyone for sharing your stories on this site; it is inspiring and comforting to read that others have issues which they have overcome and are successful!

Hey, kotapaint!

Glad to see you here. I can really understand that "There isn't time" excuse. It's amazing how there really is time if someone really wants something.

I'm past my 40s, but I'm doin' it this time!

What sort of plan do you have for your weight loss? I've pretty much made up my own strategy, using the FitDay calculator as a tracking tool for calories. It helps me stay consistent because it shows me exactly what's going on food wise.

See you in the other forums, I hope!

Jay

Default Hey Back JayEll

I think I'll look up fitday.com--never been there. I do count calories--with a pencil and paper. Your bio doesn't say a whole lot--have you been at 3FC very long? What type of daily exercise do you find helps you?

I just got finished on my first time on fitday.com and it is so easy to use. I had been keeping track on paper and this is so amazingly simple. Try it, I'm betting you'll like it!
