Striving towards pre-wedding weight before I hit 40 !!!!
I have been at loggerheads with my weight all my life..Growing up I always felt I was too fat. In retrospect I now know that I wasn't fat but just big-framed which made me look not so petite.
As far back as I can remember I have watched what I ate and have been a moderate exerciser - doing as much as I could within my hectic work-study schedule. The trouble started when I got married to a man who came from a family that was all about food. The women in the house did not work and so their day began and ended with food. Needless to say this altered my eating habits to some extent ..and the pounds started piling up !
Between getting married and having my children I gained over 30 pounds !!! I have tried all kinds of fad diets but nothing has helped.
Now, I am determined to just keep at it and see where it goes..I follow the South Beach diet as it works with my food habits. I have also registered for the Avon Breast Cancer Walk in May - I wanted to give back to the community and I also thought that the training would help me lose some weight ( i hope). To help with my training I have started working with a personal trainer ...and aim at working out 5-6 times a week for at 45 mins.
So, I think I'm doing all the right things ..I have upto April 2008 to accomplish my goal - will I succeed ?? I have the faith I will....
Piece of cake! You can do this! You won't need that long to accomplish your goal either! Read the GOALS and MINI-GOALS sections. People have lost 100-200 pounds in much less than a year! You can do this, and we are all there right behind you!
Welcome! You can definetly do this. Your goal is reasonable and you have more than enough time. You'll get lots of support and advice here so check in often.
In the exercise thread we have monthy a walking/running challenge. Since you're preparing for the Breast Cancer walk you might want to keep track of your mileage there.
Thanks Cheryl..even tho' my goal seems very small it has proved to be unsurmountable for me. I have been trying to lose these 25-30 pounds for the last 10 years now with not much success. I did manage to lose all the weight I put during my 2 quick back-to-back pregnancies but that's the extent my weight loss has reached. Maybe I just need to keep at it much longer and I might see the results.
Gsosh how long? I lost about 15 pounds in 2005 and kept it off for a year but lost steam and didnt stick to my program once summer hit (That year I did Body for Life). Last year I actually made it to my goal in April. I then slowly put back 10 of the pounds from then til November. THE HOLIDAYS!!! I hit 151 and have been getting it back down from the first of the year. One of these days I'll learn about not getting distracted during the summer.
If you'd like to join a group, I'm over in the support group page in a few with some other wonderful people. Feel free to join now. Beat the Bulge just started a new game on Monday but we take newcomers whenever. In the Support Groups-Chicks up for a Challenge the WOW thread is full of encouragement. I'd like to see you in either of these but I know how hard it is to find where you're most comfy.
