Hello all,
I've been coming here off and on for a few years, posting occasionally. So now I am back and hoping to get a new start on things. I would really like to find a buddy or buddies to team up with and try to keep on track.
A little more about me, I have been over weight most of my life, have tried several diet plans, even lost a significant amount of weight with Nutrisystem many years ago. I have since gained it all back and then some and now am at my highest weight ever.
I am really unhappy with how my weight is affecting my life and want to do something about it. I don't have a specific plan yet, but I do know that I can't do this on my own.
Anyone out there wanna team up?
LadyHLG
Hi Miss Lady!
Nice to meet you.
How would you like to get started?
Right now I dont have a specific plan or excersise routine. I am enrolled at the local gym and have joined a kickboxing class. My goal is to go to at least 2 of the 3 classes a week depending on schedule. (Was going to go tonight but after shoveling snow for 45 minutes I think I have met my daily excersise quota!)
My ultimate goal is to try and eat better, learn portion contol, of course lose weight.
So I am going to try to journal my food with FitDay, I have tried in the past, and I dont always stick with it.
So those are my long term goals.
How about you?

Hello to both of you
I was wondering if you would mind another buddy? I am starting a "new life" today. I want to put all of my efforts into changing my lifestyle to include regular daily exercise, better food choices and portion control. I have to say that it seems like a lot to change all at once, but I am trying to make it an obsession.
LadyHLG - Thank you for my first great tip. I never knew about FitDay. I have now set up my account and put in my first day's food list. WOW was that a shocker. I guess I never knew what a few extra meatballs with my pasta meant.
Well, I hope we can all help each other to accomplish our goals. I will plan to be here each day to give and receive encouragement.
Steffy
Good Morning Ladies,
I would love to join you. I am feeling like I totally need a jump start to start over again.
I could really use some new buddies.
Hope to talk to all of you soon.
Welcome Everyone!
This is so exciting! It kind of feels like getting together with a bunch of friends, which definitely makes the whole thing a little less daunting.
Ok, so here is my first "confession", I am scared to death to get on that scale, I keep putting it off, I'm mean I have a fairly good idea of what its going to say, but I just don't want to see that number because once I do I know I am going to be sad and depressed. I will just have to take a deep breath today and get it over with. It just amazes me that something so simple can be so hard!
Steffy, you are so right about how easy everything adds up.
I think I have made the decision that, for now, I'm going to try and hit a range of 1500 - 1700 cals. I can go for something more specific once I get a handle on portion control. That is my biggest downfall. I don't generally eat a lot of junk food, but I have no sense of portions and absolutely NO self control. A very bad combination!
Heading over to FitDay to finish my journaling for yesterday...
Talk to you all later, and have a great day everyone!

I think it will be great to have a group of people to go to!!!!
LadyHLG - Don't be afraid. We are here for you and we are all in the same boat. It is a huge obstacle to overcome if you have not stepped on a scale in a while, but maybe if you try to estimate high and come in lower you will already start with a good feeling.
Now, her is my confession of the day. This is the first time in a very long time that I have gone to the gym two days in a row. Now I just have to keep up the pace. I think that the 1500 - 1700 calorie limit right now sounds good. After I eat my mid-afternoon snack of pomegrante seeds, I will already have consumed 960 calories. I will need to be very careful for dinner.
But speaking of dinner, have any of you seen the woman who makes dinner for breakfast. Now, while I think larger portions early in the day is a good idea, and eating less at night is a great idea, I really don't think I would get up at 5:30 am to pop a roast in the oven to be eaten 1 1/2 hours later. OK, so if it was made by someone else and ready when I got out of bed I probably would eat it, but there is no way I would take the time to make dinner foods in the morning. I will stick to the concept without the full conception.
I have heard of the dinner for breakfast thing. I dont think it sounds feasible either. I am not a morning person and I'm not much of a morning eater, I don't really get hungry until about 10:00 am most mornings.
Evenings are a bad time for me (or when I am totally bored or out with family or at a party or on vacation...list goes on and on and on) then I would eat just about anything, but not really mornings.

p.s. Will be stepping on the scale this afternoon...aghh
Good Morning Everyone!
Well, I did it. I got on the scale and, to be honest, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. (Don't get me wrong, it wasn't great! Just not as high as I was expecting.) Well at least that is over with. Now on to better things.
I did find a website last night I wanted to share with you, its possible you might already know about it, but incase you haven't its call dietfacts.com.
It has nutritional info for tons of things, including resturants! Helped me to fill in a couple things over at FitDay.
Hope everyone is doing well!
Have a great day everyone!

Congratuations on overcoming the "obstacle". It is a difficult thing to do if you do not have a clue as to where you stand. I am very happy for you that it wasn't too bad of an experience and that it didn't bring you down.
Thanks for the website. I have to say I am impressed because you appear to be doing the research to be successful, and in turn it is helping all of us, or at least helping me.
I am not sure if anyone has gone to my other post about measurements, but if anyone is interested in getting accurate measurements to keep track the site is http://www.my-calorie-counter.com/Ta...asurements.asp. While I want to lose "tons" of weight, I really want to keep track of how my progress is by the changes in my body. I know that with exercise comes additional muscle, so the measurements will hopefully give me a better picture of my progress.
I have a feeling this website may have other useful information in it also. I will have to browse through it tonight.
I would like a buddy. I am totally new to this but am starting a new leaf. I have ignored my weight and the scales went to 275. This has caused many health issues. My focus is to drop so I can get healthy and walk without pain. I have chosen the South Beach Diet. My sister is a nurse and encouraged me to try this. This is my second week and I have been very pleased with the results. Through faith and hardwork, I am getting healthy this year! I want to be around for my family
Welcome LiveItNow!
Nice to see you again MissLady!
Ok here is my little confession for the day. I have to go to kickboxing and I totally do not want to go..at all! And half the reason is I don't want to go out into the cold. How pathetic is that?
Oh Well thats Wisconsin for you...
Have a good evening everyone!
