Hey, followthebeat!
You'll find lots of us have experienced what you have--and that's a good thing. When you tell us what you're going through, many of us know what that's like. Such as the dr. being harsh with you.
Sometimes drs. do that because they see so many obese people and people with diabetes and high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease... they must feel really frustrated at times. But still, it doesn't feel really great to be on the receiving end. Take it as a wake-up call, though! Then it can be a positive thing.
My experience has been that exercise alone, although it is good for losing inches and toning muscle, does not lead to weight loss. For me, exercise has to be coupled with control of food intake to lose weight. It really does seem to come down to calories in versus calories burned.
Good luck! And check out the other resources on this site for more ideas.
