Looking to help out others

  • Hi Everyone!

My name is marblez and I'm a long-time lurker. I am not looking to lose weight but to help out others in this process. I am 22, 5'5, and 115lbs. Approximately two years ago, I weighed about 170lbs and slowly lost this with proper diet and exercise. I have maintained 115 for about 1 year. I had a bad fast-food addiction, which I have kicked, and love to cook. Nutrition is a lifestyle for me now.

I will specifically contribute to those nutrition & food sections, I love to share recipes.

Dedication guys!!! It can be done! People are shocked when I tell them I used to be overweight. There was no trick to it- just eating right.
  • Hi!!! One day I hope to see 115, but right now Im just confused on the eating right. I quess since Ive never done it before, I dont know where to start. I started to "eat right" 3 days ago, and ive gained 2lbs. I dont know where Im going wrong Ive kept my calories under 1200. For lunch I eat Healthy choice turkey on wheat, for dinner chicken breast on my george foreman with a salad. aND snack I eat a 100 calorie jello pack. One day I did slip and had some margaritas on my aunts birthday. Am I doing this right? Or do I need to eat more?? Any information would be soo helpful, I also started to walk an hour a day, but am wanting to do more. How many hours a day did you have to do?? Thanks

  • What are your stats? How tall are you and what weight are you at? I would recommend eating at LEAST 1500 calories. Don't listen to the scale. I stepped on it once per month. Your water intake and other fluids disguise your true weight. Your food choices sound excellent !! And a drink once in a while on a celebration is nothign to worry about. If you can't afford yourself a treat once in a while, you will lapse back to eating 'the old way'. Although others may not agree- I strongly believe in "ALL FOODS IN MODERATION ARE OK".

My workout is running 1 mile per day, as fast as I can, keeping my heart rate between 160-170. My goal is 7 minutes and I'm at 9:45. For fitness, I strongly recommend 1 class with a trainer so that they can evaluate your goals. I'm no expert in fitness, I have a personal trainer at work.

Walking is good for overall health, but keeping your heart rate increased (# depending on your age) for a certain period of time is required to improve cardiovascular health significantly. I know, that sucks. I hate running too.
  • Thanks for your advice, Im 19, 5'4, and 208. WOah!! I know its alot and im only 19. Since ive been overweight for almost ever and I recently bought a treadmill, elliptical, and exersize bike, I wanna work out an hour on each. Is it bad if I stay at 1000-1200, only because I dont know what else to add to my diet!!!

  • Do you eat Breakfast?
  • Well Im not really a morning person, the only breakfast I have is if im up early enough to catch McDonalds. But this morning I tryed to quaker oatmeal weight control, I really want to stick to the calories i already have and add some fruit, but that still only gets me to a 1000 calories. Also I sometimes eat subway for lunch, chicken beast on wheat with no cheese, does any one thing thats bad?? I plan on exersizing alot, but other than the breakfast what else will keep me going all day??? Thanks

  • Hey marblez! i'm 22 almost 5'7 and i weighed 173 at my top weight. My goal is 130, although my lowest weight has been 135. I can barely imagine what I would like at 115 but it would interesting to see I also love to cook when I can so I would love to chat and share recipe ideas. PM me!

Stacie, why don' t you try eating some almonds, yogurt, low-fat cheese, or even snacking on olives? 1000 calories is very, very, very low, especially for someone that wants to exercise as much you want to! My goal is to eat 1700-1900 calories a day.
