Default Day 3 of Ideal Protein

So many people said this would be easy, but the headaches are not my friend right now. Anyone else have headaches in the beginning?
How long did they last?

Hang in there! It varies from person to person, but usually by day 4 or 5 you will be in ketosis and feeling well. I took my go-to over-the-counter pain med & it helped. Just know that it means the plan is doing what it's designed to do, & you are working it. WTG! Once you are on the other side of this process of burning through your stored carbs, it should feel much easier, though I don't know if I would say "easy" lol. Compared to other diets, yeah, I'd say IP is easy, and it will get you to your goal if you stick to the plan.

Hi, I just started back to and I'm on day 4. I've started back a few times in the last several months but I haven't been able to stay 100%. All of the times I've started have varied for initial feelings/stress level. I've had the headaches, stomach discomfort, agitation, and dizziness. In the past two days I've had the stomach discomfort and headache but I've been trying to distract myself with positive thoughts, music, activities because I just know if I stick to it I will be rewarded with the results. It does get easier like Subdove says above. Please stay strong and let us know how you are doing later today and/or tomorrow. I can say from experience starting over and over and over is more difficult and remember that your body is detoxing from the sugar/carbs during the initial phase.

Have been on for three days, no headaches for me, lucky I guess. Drinking extra water however. I also need the motivation to stick to it! Need some Gorilla tape to help I guess. LOL

I am also on day 3 and I had a terrible morning. After having a mango spinach smoothie (which was vile), I felt really sick. I spent half an hour on the floor of the bathroom beside the toilet because I really did think I was going to vomit. I finally made it upstairs to my bed and napped for an hour.

I must say that this afternoon and evening has been much better, though.

I've had a headache both today and yesterday, but Advil is helping with that.

It gets better! It's the keto flu. You can do this. Then when the headaches go away, you will feel awesome! Just drink water and take your vitamins and stick with it. Good luck to you.

I found myself sleeping pretty much the whole time I wasn't working during the first few days of the protocol. I figured if I was asleep, I wouldn't be hungry, pissy, or headache-y. Once those first few days were over, I felt sated and fine. I think a lot of the issue was that I didn't ever drink enough water before the diet, and I was eating without any discretion, then the shock of limiting everything immediately and all at once was a lot for my body to take.

I used those negative feelings of nausea, headaches, and irritability to fuel my loyalty to the program. I was nervous that if I faltered, I would feel all of those things again when I got back into the protocol. I could hear my coach's voice in my head saying "protect your ketosis!' anytime I saw something I shouldn't eat, and it was extremely helpful.

Several months later, I had a designated cheat period that was pre-meditated with my coach's blessing, and I was afraid that when I got home, I would go through all that drama again. Somehow I avoided it entirely, and didn't even notice when I went back into ketosis after getting out of it. This just goes to show also that even if you're experiencing the keto flu now, you might not feel it in the future if you happen to fall off the wagon, or if you have a designated cheat day like Christmas or Thanksgiving.

How are all the newbies doing? I'm on day 6 and feeling good. I've been having four packets the last few days to get me through but will cycle back to three soon. I'm also working out at the gym which is burning more calories/energy. It is day by day right now but counting down 60 days on my phone as a short term goal has helped me keep focused. I'm loving the choc caramel mug cakes. I also would not make it without coffee and the rtd vanilla drink. I need to fit into 95% of my clothes because I'm living in the 5% that fits right now. Let's Nike-ee it people.

Try adding spinach, cucumber, celery, ice in your blender with the mango, it tastes way better and is a pretty good smoothie. The headaches pass and makes you think before you cheat!! Good luck!!

I did put 1.5 cups of spinach in it. I used the mango drink, 1.5 cups of spinach, 1/2 cup water and 3 ice cubes. I don't think I can try it again.

Day 6 here and feeling good. Even though I get up every hour to pee through the night, I'm not exhausted. I've been sticking to my 3 packets per day, although I've had to supplement with a couple of egg whites mid-morning. Weekdays, I have breakfast at 5:30 and don't have lunch until noon, so it's a long time in between.

I haven't weighed myself since my original weigh-in, so will be interested to see what the numbers are tomorrow.

I am also on day 3 and been suffering headaches too. Keto flu i'm thinking?? So far though today, I haven't had one yet. I keep hearing that I have to go through the whole week before I feel better. It just seems like the days are so slow! Fandwfarmgirl, I hear ya! We can keep in touch and cheer each other on! Good luck!

The days will go by fast. i'm completing day 31 today and it seems I just started this program. As for the smoothies, i would try mixing the spinach with a vanilla pre-made drink. it wasn't that bad. but most of the time i put my veggies in an egg white omelet. i add mushrooms, bellpepper and spinach to get the veggies in early in the day. The headaches will subside unless you have allergies and live in an area with a high pollen count like i do.
