Loser - Yes very hard to drink and be on the road for hours.. I am a realtor that keeps me in the car a lot. :(:(. But I made it thru yesterday had the bulk of the afternoon home to have my water...

CenTex - So good to see you! I have missed you and your journey...glad you are back to basics for January.... So hard to maintain during the holidays. I did so good last year and so poorly this year LOL...

Cheryl - Sorry about the pain! I had that when I was preggers with DS and It was not fun... I worked in a office and had my keyboard up on the cubical wall so that I could stand and type. LOL.

Today I have work at 3pm so all morning to get my water in... House full of Redskin Fans this afternoon so the game will be on and Dinner will be 1/2 time. Need to figure something quick and easy that I can plan to the minute LOL.. If it stops pouring, maybe I will grill up some burgers.

I am so thrilled that my reboot in IP is resulting in a steady downward slope - I actually had my starter weigh in for reboot last Sunday using my Aria and this morning I am down 8.9 lbs!

Part of the verbiage in my head that interfered with getting started on my reboot was this fear that I would not really lose as well as I did on my original IP P1 -- and instead of a slow start, I am having a KICK start - my loss so far is almost 3 lbs more than my 1st week loss the first time. Starting in the 190's and already I am looking for when the 170's will show up.

I think that re-embracing the drink mixes -- Choc drink, Vanilla, Capucchino, Wildberry Yogurt -- I had various boxes of these left since my last trip to my now closed clinic -- I think doing these instead of the oatmeal and the IP pancakes is a really smart move that is maximizing losses. I am mixing those flavors with the Multi Purpose Quest Protein Powder to make the muffins, and those muffins work great for breakfast or for lunch.

I am fearful of using too many quest bars since the reformulation, but I am using a few - I had 2 or 3 this week, I think. I have not found and acquired other usable ones yet, and I have only a couple of IP brownies left in my supply. I will find some alternative though - someone posted Un Cow by D's Naturals, I think, that have good IP compliant numbers - have no clue how they taste. But having some bars to include for grab and go situations is really helpful. I have used the Quest chips for those situations, too.

I cannot say how relieved I am to be back on track -- thanks for all the support here on 3FC!!!!

WAY TO GO GIRL!!! 8.9 lbs...and thanks for starting the challenge...it is great!

I noticed that you talk a lot about MFP...I should start using it...did for awhile but just stopped taking the time to put it all in...to you have a group of women together on it? May I join you girls?

Have a great week!

Oh yes - there are a few of us IPeeps from 3FC who are 'friends' on MFP -- PM me with your screen name for MFP and I'll add you as a friend.

Some of us have the same screen name for both 3FC and MFP, like me, CenTxChk, Canadjineh, JJTx... and some have similar photographs for their avatar.

I think we try to support one another there too - and I think anyone who is on maintenance will tell you that the tracking on a log - either in their Fitbit, Sparkpeople, MFP or some other food diary that gives you the nutrient breakout, really finds it helpful.

And, after a month or so, I think my usual foods were readily available to log quickly - I don't mind the logging much these days. Maybe you will find it gets better, too.

Sgrealtor1 01-11-2016 07:27 AM

Cheryl - COngrats on that Awsome Loss!:bravo::dancer:

Since I fell off the IP wagon this week my loss is not fantastic...so this will be my reboot week one. I did manage to lose a pound, but I also shot up over that weight so I am going to leave it till next week when I have a full week under my belt.

I slept horrible last night so today is going to be a very long day LOL...

oneuh2 01-11-2016 09:50 AM

Sue - don't feel bad - I bumped back up 0.4 lbs per the scale this AM.

In my reverie of celebrating such unbelievable losses for week 1, I ate 2 free sugar cookies in the Harris Teeter grocery store yesterday and threw an extra packet into my eating despite a pretty sedentary day. That little change sobered me up - I am straight and narrow today.

Amazing how I so easily step off the tracks.... but that was just one step off the rails - no need to turn it into a detour.

We can do this!!!

CenTXChk 01-11-2016 09:07 PM

Loser - We would love to see you on MFP! It has been a real lifesaver in maintenance for me.

One - I was up 0.6 this morning myself this morning. Weekends can be tough with all the food in the house. My DH texted me at work today asking where his cashews were. I told him I had thrown them out (Lol!). Too much temptation! Nuts are my downfall, I swear!

Sue - Be kind to yourself. You've got a lot going on. We are here for you!

My goal is to walk everyday during lunch. I work literally across the street from a great trail around our town's lake. Hoping the walking will help expedite my losses.

Like Cheryl, I've had a great first week of losses of 9.6lbs. I keep thinking I may finish up P1 before the end of the month but have to remind myself of my out patient surgery. I won't be able to work out anyway so I should try to go as low as I can.

Have an appnt with an ortho to check out my hip tomorrow afternoon. Depending what he says, I may start scheduling appnts with some plastic surgeons to continue to research my skin options. I would also like to get some veins on my legs lasered. Has anyone had that done? I hate to sound so vain...guess I never put any effort into myself before. Now I want to do it all!

CenTxChk!!!! So glad to have you along revisiting P1 with those of us who are still stalking that goal weight -- Your posts are always among my faves!!!

I missed it - what outpatient surgery are you having?
what's with your hip?
I have not had the veins treated but I too am interested in what's involved, how expensive is it, was it painful, and is there downtime with recuperation and rehab? I hope someone out there can fill us in!!!

I am having a ganglion cyst remove off the back of my hand on the 21st. It benign but an unsightly fluid filled sac that has gotten bigger over the years. Apparently it requires the lightest general anesthesia and a day off of work to have it removed. Since I will be hitting my deductible for my hand, I am getting my hip checked out that has been bothering me for years. Now that I've ramped up my workouts, the pain has also increased. Assuming my hips are not in the best shape after lugging around 100 extra pounds on them for the last 20yrs...

Hoping I can find some relief and move on to more "fun" things like skin surgery. ;)

Posted here a couple days ago but think I snuck it in. :D Missed you ladies and your positive influence. Nothing like being accountable to friends, right?

Hiya loser13: Join us on MFP, it helps immensely with keeping on the straight & narrow. I know I'm in trouble when I ignore posting on it for a week or more... setting myself up for a slow creep up, lol.
CenTXChk good to see on the boards again.

Liana - do I recall that you and others on the Maintainers thread actually copied your food diary page for the day and posted on that thread so you guys could share thoughts about your maintenance choices and also get ideas?

I'd like to be able to pick up my data from the diary but I have not gotten a nice listing like I recall that you had-- did you just highlight and copy and paste?

What a charming picture your comment brings to mind for me - I will try to retain that mind picture and bring it up when I am having angst over food choices!!! Thanks so much for the kind thoughts!!!

Oneuh2: Highlight, copy & paste, with a little tweaking for readability in 3FC. Probably best off of a desktop/laptop NOT via an MFP app.

Good Morning...

Cen -Good luck with the hip and the surgery...

Cheryl - Finally found the quest peanut butter at my Shoprite..It came in a huge container..LOL...Making muffins this morning.. Can't wait for that peanut butter flavor LOL.. I have been making muffins with a cheese cake powder I order on line..they are OK, but Peanut Butter is more my flavor.

Heading out to my IP clinic today to stock up. I have run out of non restricted foods... I hate shakes for my snack...like something crunchy!

CenTXChk 01-13-2016 06:57 AM

Quick update before I run off to work. Ortho diagnosised my hip as arthritis. What does that mean? I am missing cartilage in some areas. No more high impact sports (my days of dreaming to be a runner are done...boo). Running and kickboxing are what flared up my pain to begin with. He doesn't even recommend "walking for exercise." Meaning I can walk my dog or go for a walk but should not go on a 5 mile walk.

Cycling and swimming were his recommendations. Is elliptical considered low impact?

He said he would expect me to need a hip replacement at some point (many years) down the road. All depends how well I listen to his advice. I can still occasionally do the activities listed above but know that I will feel it later.

Kind of a bummer. Finally lose the weight and I still can't do the activities that I want. Been taking spin classes and my gym has a pool so maybe I'll try that.

Hi Ladies,

I've been away for a while, but working on my reboot. I did put my reboot on hold for my vacation and the holidays despite initial intentions not to.

I've been doing ok getting back on plan since I started back up, but know the wonderful extra support of this group will help.

I've missed you ladies!

I totally understand what you are saying as I am going thru the exact same thing. I have NO more cartilage in the socket on the right hip, and now its bone on bone and there is ripping and tearing, and bone spurs as well. All this to say, NOW I have my first appt with a SURGEON on the 10 March and I am so excited you can imagine! I want my life back, and until something l ike this happens, we don't realize how much we take 'walking' for granted right? not any other sports but NORMAL WALKING.
So to prepare for whatever surgery he will put me thru, this is another incentive for me to take off as much of the 24 lbs I have regained since 2012.
Into my third day OP now and not craving any sweet things :)

So glad to be back!

oneuh2 01-13-2016 04:03 PM

How happy I am to see so many new postings in our old faithful 2014 Starters thread today!!!! For much of last year, we were the cool place to be, and I miss all that engagement we used to have going on...

Liana - thanks for the guidance on capturing the food diary from MFP!
and others here will benefit from the Maintainers links you posted

Sue - I am looking for a chance to get out to GNC for another flavor of Quest powder - I have Multi Purpose which I use together with IP packets for the flavor - Wildberry Yogurt packet, Vanilla Drink packet, and 2 scoops of the Multi purpose makes a great muffin!

I want to get the Chocolate and maybe the new Cookies and Cream... and I need Quest chips - I too crave crunch and I no longer have an IP clinic, so no more of the IP crisps for me... Frawniemae has another brand of crisps I may try - let ya know if I find them and like them.

CenTxCk -- so sorry to hear of your hip condition - I believe that elliptical is considered less stress on hips on knees, but if you can find a good place to go for it, water aerobics is a terrific low impact exercise. There in TX you have a long season for outdoor pools, and I like to be outdoors best for those classes. Miranda Esmonde-White's Classical Stretch can really benefit your joints-- she is on public TV here in the DC area at like 6AM daily. She also has a website I think, and you can get dvd's... she is out of Canada, and is in her 60's with the flexibility and body I'd have loved in my 40's... You are so resilient - there are lots of other ways to get a good workout than just running - don't let this push you down. Your little reboot weight loss is going fantastic, btw!

DD - SOOOO glad to see you back here posting - glad you have gotten back on the wagon since vacation hiatus -- I have missed you too!!! You were so encouraging to me as I floundered through the Fall months - I am happy to tell you I am 10 days in on my reboot and SOOO glad to be back on track.

YAY!!! Love our 2014 Starters gang, and always glad to see the true vet from 2013, Liana!!!!

CenTXChk 01-13-2016 11:22 PM

DD - So good to see you! Glad you're back and hope your reboot is going well? Using the jacket you made this winter?

Losingforgood- Sorry you're also dealing with hip issues and looking at surgery. I know what you mean though, I had plantars facetious several years ago and you don't appreciate your feet until you have problems with them. Good luck with your surgery!!

So I texted my IP coach today about my ortho appnt and looking for other exercise options other than her walking only instructions. Her response to me was to walk....seriously?!? So are you not paying attention to what I'm telling you or are you dismissing me? I really should give her the benefit of the doubt...she's been great through my entire journey. IDK

So in typical thumbing my nose to the establishment, I went to my trainer tonight. Against her P1 rules. How childish am I? ;) Anyway, it felt great and really has me thinking if I want to try and keep losing or go back to maintainence. Not scheduled to go back til next Tues, so I have a few days to decide.

Not seeing much action on the scales last couple of days. We'll see tomorrow....

Hope you're having a great OP day!

Sgrealtor1 01-14-2016 06:36 AM

Cen -Ugh sorry about the diagnosis and the challenge you now have with exercise... I think I need to start doing something for the flab LOL.... May be time to join a gym so I can work on the arm machines..

Cheryl - If there is something I can pick up and ship to you just let me know. I don't go to a clinic and see a person, but there is one not to far from me that is an IP store. You can just walk in and buy. I don't mind... I had the Muffins from the Quest Peanut Butter yesterday and YUMMY!! really like that.
Batch #2 for breakfast today.

I ate a bagel yesterday. Plain with nothing on it, just dry in the car on the way to my appointment.... I can't even explain it. It was just in my head and I did it...MOving on ...Day 1 again :(

Oooooh Sue... Sorry about the bagel... but glad you tried the muffins and liked them - so easy to make, especially if you do a dozen at once by quadrupling the recipe.

I just used the multi purpose Quest protein powder (3 scoops) and one IP packet of peach mango drink mix for flavor - to make a dozen (4 servings) of really yummy muffins - 3 of those eaten today as one serving to make up for the breakfast item I did not have this AM, and now 3 more servings available for breakfast or lunch tomorrow, Sat and Sunday. After refrigerator storage, before eating them, I zap them in the microwave for 30 seconds, and then sometimes have a little cup (2oz) of WF pancake syrup as a dip. yummers!

Gotta get some other quest flavors to try for variety of muffins - overall I think these will be my mainstay protein food for this reboot.

Thanks for the shipping offer, Sue -- It would definitely help me as I use up my stockpile of IP stuff. I think what I need most are some bars - the quest bars are problematic now since the reformulation, and I have not located other alternatives that are good from a nutrient content perspective. I think someone said GNC carries Fit101 or something like that, but I have not made it to GNC to look for them yet. So - I will PM you a request for some bars - I think maybe I can pay you from my online banking at Bank of America, or maybe through paypal?

thanks so much for such a kind offer!!! Let me know when I need to convey my needs and I'll get right back to you - if you already went for your own food, let me know when you will go next!!!

Hey CenTXChk -- going to your trainer sounds good to me! Whether you are losing or maintaining - please keep coming back here to share your lourney with us!

Hope you're having a great OP day!

Try shallow water walking waist to chest deep, or if you are comfortable in deeper water go for a deep water run using a flotation waist belt (or even a pool noodle under the armpits). As a physio rehab specialist for over 25 yrs I suggest you get in contact with a physio who is familiar with water based exercise to strengthen surrounding musculature and give you an aerobic workout. Takes gravity out of the equation, supports good posture, and variable resistance strengthens the muscles.

Liana

Sgrealtor1 01-15-2016 06:23 AM

Cheryl - Yes Definatly PM me with your list.... I have a pay pal or you can send a check... No biggie... The clinic walk in is open Mon, Wed and Friday. I usually go every 2 weeks so take your time and get your list together... :D

Day 1 went fine yesterday. Helped that I worked all afternoon and DS had a hockey game last night .... Today I have lots of errands to run.

CenTXChk 01-15-2016 09:20 AM

WI with my IP coach this morning. Down 3.1lbs (and 5lbs of fat!:carrot:) since last Fri. That is a great WI as my weight on my aria at home hasn’t budged all week and I was getting discouraged.

It makes me think about you ladies rebooting on your own. Sue and Cheryl – I know how hard this diet is. A huge part of my success is all of you ladies here…but my IP coach was and is instrumental in my continued success. I still go see her every week…I’ve been thinking about it and I want to encourage you to find clinics in your area. I keep running across IP clinics that aren’t advertised. You may even call some of your doctor’s offices and see if they know of any places. I found my gynecologist had one I wasn’t even aware of last time I went in for my annual. My girlfriend goes to her cardiologist and another through her endocrinologist. They really are popping up everywhere. And that weekly accountability and support can really make the difference!

Ok, off my soapbox.

Liana – Thanks for the suggestions! I am definitely going to check out the pool at my gym and give swimming (or at least walking) a try. I just wish the gym didn’t have a wall of windows looking in the pool for everyone to watch me trot around in my swimsuit. Gulp. Wish me luck!

Lastly, I visited with my IP coach about exercise. I told her I was going back to the gym next week and talked about alternatives to walking. My instructions are to eat P2 on strength training days. She says I’m not going to lose but we shall see. I told her I just can’t sit around anymore. That actually got her pretty excited. Feels good to have created some good habits! Finally, after years of mentally beating myself up and using food as a crutch I have some good habits going on right now!

Have a night planned out for a good friend’s birthday. Dinner and going to see a band after. I had been really on the fence about cheating tonight but now am feeling like I can do this! People love a designated driver anyway, right? ;)

Not drinking when I go out is one of my crowning achievements of IP thus far! Even when I tell myself I can have one drink, once I'm in the moment I've found that it's not that big of a deal, and I pass - it really helps build that confidence/"I can do this...I'm DOING THIS!" feeling.

Keep up the great work and keep sharing!!!!

Sgrealtor1 01-16-2016 07:10 AM

Cen - Thanks so much :hug: Although I don't go to an IP clinic, I still see my old coach every week or 2 and we talk and text constantly! It's true that the accountability is important, but my coach is no longer associated with IP. I tried another clinic and coach, but I really did not like her. SO my old coach is working on getting a new program going and is still coach me with IP. I do miss the every week accountability but this is what I have for now. Anyone new I would not recommend on your own but right now this is what I need to do.

Think I will hit GNC today for some Quest Chips. Forgot that they were unrestricted... Need some crunchy unrestricted snacks in the house. My new addiction is the muffins with the Quest powder... I did see that Amazon had the cookies and cream quest powder...I am tempted LOL.... But I also see a ton of other brands out there .... Even one sold at Costco.... I need to check into all the nutrition info to make sure that they are unrestricted before I buy them...

CenTXChk 01-16-2016 05:17 PM

I understand Sue. Just hope my suggestion was received with the best wishes as intended. Some days I wish I could reach through our computers and hug you ladies. This battle is tough and the struggle is real. Some days we support. Other days we are supported. You have always had kind words and encouragement for some many here.

Taking an easy weekend. My DD's sports usually keep us hopping during the weekends. She started playing middle school sports this year so practices have been in the mornings before school and week night games. Not used to having all of these free weekends! Of course she is trying out for her club bball team tomorrow and soccer will be ramping up...and we'll be back to full weekends soon enough.

Work is crazy busy and incredibly stressful. I love my job and the people I work with but some days I think I can't handle the stress anymore. Yesterday was one of those days. The kind that drive emotional eaters to eat! Working out is one thing that really helps with my stress and anxiety. Guess that's one of the reasons I found it so hard giving it up during P1.

Sgrealtor1 01-17-2016 07:09 AM

Cen - Yes my friend message recieved in the most loving way! I totally get where you are coming from and I don't necessarily disagree ... I just have not found the right place to land yet to finish up my journey.

Found some protien powders yesterday at ShopRite of all places that the numbers work. Muffins are going to be my go to for a while LOL.. Bought a chocolate and a cake batter flavor...I will report back how it goes.

Hanging at the house today. Need to figure out what dinner will be. Preferably something with leftovers for lunch for DH this week LOL.. I do have a turkey breast taking up a lot of space in my freezer..... Hummmm

oneuh2 01-18-2016 11:29 PM

Hey gang - I have been tied up with DH and also catching up after time off work during the holidays, so I have not been posting here as regularly as when I was off work.

But I miss you all!

And, I am proud to say I am posting consistently in my food diary in MFP - I see CebTxChk, Liana, and a few other IPeeps there regularly - this desirable good habit is underway for me this time!

What's happening with everyone?

So in typical thumbing my nose to the establishment, I went to my trainer tonight. Against her P1 rules. How childish am I? ;) Anyway, it felt great and really has me thinking if I want to try and keep losing or go back to maintainence. Not scheduled to go back til next Tues, so I have a few days to decide.

Not seeing much action on the scales last couple of days. We'll see tomorrow....

Hope you're having a great OP day!

Thanks for your kind words.

Your stats are amazing!

'tread carefully' ;) with that foot ok ? it didnt sound to me like she was listening to you

Hummmm

Question: when you ladies buy protein powders, does it have to say on the container ' suitable for baking' etc etc like Quest does ? I found out not all powders are 'cookable' :p

Hi Ladies,

Thanks for the welcome back!

Cen, I do wear my jacket, though we have been having a very mild winter for us, so not as often as I would like. I also just finished making a beautiful pair of mitts and it's too warm to really need to wear them right now, but we still have A LOT of winter left. Congrats on the great WI, sorry to read of your physical limitations, but I'm sure you will find things to enjoy that wont hurt in the long run.

I am struggling to get 100% on plan, I was doing ok, but now I am PMS-y, cranky, emotional, and finding all sorts of excuses! But I'll get there!

I hope everyone else that is struggling is having an easier time.

Sue, you are so awesome for continuing to try and Cheryl, sounds like you are doing well. You are both inspiring with so much going on in your lives.

I hope everyone has a great OP day!

DD - Thank you for the kind remarks!!

It is hard to take the first step to get on program with commitment to stay with it - after 14 days in, I ate a Haagen Daz choc almond ice cream bar... really???!! I was barely back into ketosis and somehow I had to cheat. Stupid.

But I think I have returned onto the rails of the straight and narrow.... I have been having a no movement week on the scale until this AM when I did drop 1.3lbs -- that's an encouragement, and some indication that I did not do too much harm to body chemistry with the ice cream -- jeez did you know those bars have 600 calories!!!! Mostly fat, but of course plenty of sugar. I really need to bear that in mind the next time I am casting about for a detour with carbs....

Today, I am having a rare day of stomach discomfort along with a lot of body pain. I might have the flu (despite flu shot) but I hope it is just a one day bug. Even laying in bed or in the recliner is uncomfortable.... I hope to get thru this and feel better soon - we have a big snow storm coming for
Friday and Saturday.

The gang on the Challenge to Spring 2016 has lost over 150 lbs in just 16 days..... as usual IP is delivering the results we are looking for!

ttfn....

Losingforgood - I never check to see if it says suitable for baking... I did try one of the new ones that I bought, and although they tasted fine, they did not come out like the quest powder does..

Cheryl -Yup! Know the feeling of that ice cream bar... But remember when we get back to real life that stuff will happen... Back on Phase 1 and put that in your rear view. I think that is a lesson I need to learn to...put those slips in the rear view..If it happens move on..

I really need to buckle down.. I have not been 100% and the scale is not budging.. I also feel it in my pants LOL. I only have about 3 pair of comfortable work pants and then of course leggins. But since I lost all the weight I have tried not to wear the leggins... Ugh. Wake UP :mad:

Hey Sue -- Come onto the straight and narrow -- one thing that rings true for me about this whole thing is -- the days will go by, whether I am doing the right things to manage my eating or not! So my graduation from coaching class, when I would like to be back at least at the weight I was when I began the training last June (160 by Mar 3rd), will arrive on the calendar, and I will look back over these days and weeks and I will either be very happy that I got back on the wagon, or very mad at myself that I let the days go by without following the program and letting momentary temptations pass by.

I did get back on track this week, and I have dropped a couple of pounds on the scale since I had the ice cream incident.... so I am pleased with myself.

Although -- I am down for the count with a bad respiratory infection and sinus headache and body aches that make sleep very fitful. Feeling pretty crummy and it seems like it's flu rather than just a cold/respiratory thing. Some diarrhea, to accompany the body aches... first time I have been sick since I started IP in July 2014. I am SO looking forward to putting THIS in the rearview mirror!!

DeterminedDieter 01-22-2016 12:37 PM

Great job getting back on track One.

I don't know why we do it to ourselves. If we're lucky the cheat will almost feel worth it while it's happening, and if we're REALLY, REALLY maybe for even a little after that. But usually I'm regretting it as I'm chewing! Then I feel guilty and crappy about myself! And that lasts longer than any good feelings I get from the cheat!

We can do this ladies!!

Thanks for your reply!
I guess its because I tried the QUEST first, and that spoiled me for any other haha.

But seriously, it was NASTY! What do you all mix your QUEST with for a shake? water ? or what would you suggest?

Largo 01-22-2016 12:54 PM

I mix my quest with 8oz of water and a cup of spinach. Very good
