Default Going on vacation

I will be approximately 3 months into IP when its time to go on vacation. I have 3 weeks left before I leave. I still want to lose 15-20 lbs - and I have currently lost just over 20. My question is - is there anything I can do before I leave to minimize the weight gain? I know I will not be using the IP food while on vacation, and I do plan on having dessert at least once. I asked my coach and she said there wasn't really anything I could do, it would take at least a month to prepare. I am going to eat low carb with a few exceptions - just trying to be realistic. I read somewhere on this forum it was said "if you think you can go off plan and then restart and continue losing weight the way you were you are wrong" ? Not sure why?
Any feedback would be appreciated!!
I want to enjoy my vacation (Hawaii ) but am committed to starting again when I get back.

Curlie-
I am going to bump a thread I did many years ago about how I handled a big vacation (Germany). We were gone for 10 days and I was about 15# from goal.

The short story is, before I left, I did a week at P2, a week at P3 and then did not follow protocol at all on vacation. Came back, did P1 until I hit goal.

I think you will find the long version helpful. I'll search for it and bump it.

I'm still in Phase 1 myself, but everything I've read says DO NOT just jump from P1 back into regular eating. Your digestive tract won't be happy. Who wants to be sick on vacation?! I think you should do a week of P2 and a week of P3 before you go.

Yes - I think that is what I am going to do. Of course I wanted to get down as low as I can before going on vacation, but that doesn't make sense if I will gain more and/or not feel good
I am just keeping my fingers crossed that when I get back my body continues to lose like before

Here's some other threads that help too, curliegirl. Lots of us have gone on all kinds of vacations without phasing off and still enjoyed ourselves and lost weight too. It can be hard to jump back on the bandwagon again after eating low carb maintenance. Just another option...

Thanks for links canadjineh I will look them over. I am really trying to go into this vacation with a level head and a plan rather than go crazy because my eating has been so restricted.
I am on my 9th week and no cheating so far
