G' Morning Ipeeps! I hope this Monday finds you well and OP! If you have an HEB grocery store near you, check their coupons. The one near me has store coupons for $1 off Walden Farms products; no limit as far as I can tell. Guess where I'm going this morning! ;) Going to stock up on my favorites, and maybe try something new, depending on what's available. My new favorite snack is raw jicama sticks dipped in WF caramel dip. Tried making my own "tortillas" using my meat slicer and it did pretty well, but a few came out too thick before I found that "happy spot" so I decided to try them with the dip. Good stuff, Maynard!

Have a great week!

Good morning and happy Monday everyone!
Celebrated my 33rd birthday on Friday and coasted through the weekend. Tried several new recipes (Holy cow Janeva's Strawberry Cheesecake Chocolate Chip Muffins and the Mint Chocolate Lava Loaf, my birthday "cake", are DELICIOUS!). Also tried on every pair of pants I own and have a shopping bag to take to the donation bin around the corner. Hoping for a solid 2 lb loss this week since last week was a mere 1 lb and the week prior was 1.8 lbs. Feeling kind of "ho hum" these past few weeks. I think a nice loss would be the lightning bolt I need.

Awesome! Thanks for the heads up! Need to stock up with vacation being 6 weeks away!!

Happy Monday everyone  lol

The scale inched up a couple #'s this morning. Pretty sure it is fluid retention from lack of sleep and heat, so I am upping the water and plan to get my walks I this week.
Wish the work-blahs would go away. Most of what's going on is out of my hands but there are things I need to do and I am procrastinating 😕 had put an application in back at the beginning of May and just now received information that I am still a candidate- keep your fingers crossed for me iPeeps :D

Grateful4Health 07-06-2015 12:01 PM

Fingers crossed for you Beth.

littlelulu1212 07-06-2015 01:31 PM

happy Monday IP family.

ugh. these past several days have been a HUGE struggle for me. and I was only on IP for 4 weeks! Did great the 1st 3 weeks, with 2-3 lbs lost a week. then my period hit and the 4th week I only lost 0.6. I then went into a huge negative hole convincing myself that it wasn't because of my period that I didn't lose the weight, and that I am bound to always struggle with dieting and my weight. I got super sad and stressed out about it. my coaches kept encouraging me to keep at it and remember that logically it is VERY possible that the small weight loss/stall is due to my period. but did I listen? nope. then it came to the 4th of July and my mindset was "screw it" and went all out that day. not gonna lie, but it was really fun and I loved being able to socialize without having to worry about every single thing I put into my mouth. Thought I could handle the one cheat day and get back on track the very next day. annnnd that didn't work out either. now it's the 3rd day and im STILL cheating. omg. need to get it together!!! I'm so ashamed, I'm so disappointed in myself, and I'm horrified that all my hard work and money has gone to waste.

I tried searching for those recipes but came up short... willing to share? It sounds amazing! One month left to go OP (I'm done August 5 no matter where I fall, original goal was lose 100lbs, at -85.5lbs as of 7/1 but 8 months of plan is my mental limit, I think!) and I'm feeling so bored, so routine I need a "treat" to keep me sane! Something other than a different Torani in my shake, ha. ;)

Eta: And happy birthday!

Strawberry Cheesecake Chocolate Chip Muffins
This is a no fail recipe for light but moist muffins with a strawberry cream cheese flavor
Recipe by Janeva Eickhoff

Ingredients:
1 IP vanilla pudding mix
1 IP chocolate chip pancake mix
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. Splenda
1/3 C. liquid egg whites (I use Better ‘n Eggs brand, muffins will be more moist)
2 tsp. sugar free cream cheese extract (or 1 tsp. vanilla extract + 1 tsp. olive oil)
3 T. Walden Farms Strawberry Syrup

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. In a medium bowl, mix together the pudding mix, pancake mix, baking powder and Splenda. Mix well to distribute baking powder throughout.
3. Add liquid ingredients. Stir to mix.
4. Spray a mini muffin tin with cooking spray, spoon batter into muffin tin making 12 muffins.
5. Bake approximately 10 minutes. Oven temps vary, check muffins at 8 minutes. If they start to lightly brown on the top they’re definitely done.

TIP: If you use the regular sized muffin tin you will have to increase the baking time. Check muffins by sticking a toothpick into the center of a muffin and if it comes out clean w/no batter on it, muffins are done. I use the Better ‘n Egg brand liquid egg whites because they make the batter more moist, it’s gold in color but still just egg whites and doesn’t include the yolk. I purchased the sugar free cream cheese extract from www.olivenation.com

Servings: This recipe makes 2 IP unrestricted servings – 1 IP unrestricted serving = 6 mini muffins or 3 regular sized muffins.

2nd Recipe Mentioned Above...

CHOCOLATE MINT LAVA LOAF
Recipe by Janeva Eickhoff

1 IP Dark Chocolate Pudding Mix (dry)
1 IP Crispy Cereal mix (crushed)
2 tsp. baking powder
1 packet Stevia
1/3 C. liquid egg whites
1 T. skim milk
2 tsp. olive oil
1 T. WF Chocolate Syrup
2 T. IP Vanilla premade drink
1 IP Chocolate mint bar (cubed)

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. In a medium mixing bowl, mix the pudding, cereal, baking powder and Stevia. Add the egg whites, skim milk, olive oil, chocolate syrup and Vanilla premade; stir to incorporate.
3. Fold cubed chocolate mint bar into batter.
4. Spray mini loaf pan with cooking spray and add batter. Lightly pat down to even out.
5. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes clean

TIP: When you insert the toothpick you may see the melted chocolate bar on the toothpick – not to be confused with whether the remaining batter is baked through. Over baking makes these IP baked goods a little tough but under baking will cause deflating after it’s out of the oven. Eat up ~ janeva

Servings – 2 IP unrestricted and 1 IP restricted. This can be tricky to figure out in your day so I eat ˝ the loaf and that is 1 IP unrestricted and ˝ IP restricted. That leaves me 1 IP unrestricted and ˝ restricted packets for the rest of the day. I eat the other half of the loaf the next day – micro the bread for a few seconds to reheat and perk up.

One day at a time, one healthy choice at a time!

livinlrg 07-06-2015 08:16 PM

Littlelulu: Don't beat yourself up. This is my classic downfall. I do really well and then I fall off the wagon. Then instead of getting up and brushing myself off, I roll around and the wagon drives over me a couple of times. IP works. These threads prove it, which is why they're a lifeline for me. No one in maintainers row says it's easy but they stuck to it and so can we. Get back on the wagon and brace yourself that the next week will be really hard. We're all here for you so don't quit.
I'm in my 12 week now. As of my last WI, I'm down a total of 36 lbs. I do lose less when it's my TOM, but the next week will drop. I'm ecstatic with the results so far.
I'm up at my cottage enjoying a 2nd week of vacation. I host a lot of people but now I'm not stressed whether there's enough food for me. Usually I'm so busy that I sometimes miss out on the sweets and the snacks. Now I don't care. I eat my IP meals at regular times and have no problem cooking and baking for everyone else. The best part is I no longer want to go bed right after dinner because I ate too much. I stay up and play cards and feel great. I'm sitting on my dock with a coffee with my two lab pups watching my hubby and kids in the boat tubing. I'm starting to enjoy life and stopped worrying about what I'm going to eat next. This is a great change for me. I still have about 50 lbs to lose but I don't care how long it will take. I'm going to get there.

hysteria_625 07-06-2015 09:38 PM

lrg- that sounds like a great vacation! Enjoy all the benefits :D

Agreed - Janeva is AWESOME! I am a simple recipe kind of cook, and she has a great mix for iPeeps - including us alt-product users. That was where I found the rhubarb compote :D I follow her facebook page also.

lulu - dust off and get back on the horse! PMS is the  Right now, it's literally one bite at a time. Remember how good you felt while you were losing - how much better your clothes were fitting, and all the positives! I would also think for now, when you want *insert non-IP food here*, have easy snacks on hand - celery sticks are a personal fave & "free"...another thought would be hard boiled eggs, just toss the yolk or make a quick egg white omelet - something to get you through the hungries and back into ketosis.

SusanneXo90 07-06-2015 09:55 PM

Hey everyone.

I have done IP before and after having kids I have started again 8 days ago.

I was wondering if any of you have any tips on accelerating the weight loss process? I know it sounds silly, but for some reason my scale hasn't budged in 3 days; in fact, I even have gained 2 pounds...and I have been on plan 100%. Weighing and measuring everything, getting in more than 12 glasses of water a day, etc... I have even cut out the restricted.

I have a vacation at the end of August and I want to lose about 25-30 pounds before then. My friend is on IP - weighed about 190 - and has lost 50 pounds in only 2 months.. Any tips on how I could increase my results like hers?

Thanks everyone. I am just feeling really disappointed and discouraged right now :(

Great Dane 07-06-2015 10:31 PM

So don't try this at home. I bought 2 weeks of IP food the Monday before I left for a 9 day trip to Denver to help my parents cull and pack for a move to independent living. By Wednesday I was so busy even before I left that aside from some IP cappuccino in my morning coffee and an occasional pudding I was off IP but made sure I ate at least salads and meat protein. During my trip and stay, I cooked my parents IP compliant meals, was lucky to gulp down a protein drink sometime in the morning. An occasional lunch. Never did open my box of IP products. And lost 3.4 pounds while I was gone! (which on one hand makes me wonder why I am spending all this money when I lost that much weight not on IP products. But on the other hand... well anyway I was happy with the loss!!) Like I said, don't try this just to lose weight, it may have been a coincidence. Stay 100% on protocol.

FunkyMonkey 07-07-2015 01:55 AM

Congrats on the loss, Great Dane! I am starting week six of IP and have had a heavy travel schedule for work the past month. There have been a few days when eating OP was not possible, so I did the best I could with protein and veggies. While my losses were not quite as high as when I was totally OP, they were pretty close. Like you, it kind of made me wonder if I could do this on my own with real food...but I know I can't - if I could, I wouldn't need the plan in the first place!! But it does give me hope that I can sustain a heathier, lower carb way of living once I get to my goal.

I hope your parents are having a good transition to their new home!

barri1970 07-07-2015 08:42 AM

Just a quick question...I think I got kicked out of Ketosis Sunday. I am bloated and up a few lbs. How long after you get kicked out do you get back in and how long does it take to drop the few lbs I put on?

frawniemae 07-07-2015 09:49 AM

barri1970 from what I've read, it takes about a week to get your body back to where it was before getting knocked out of ketosis. That is why it just is not worth taking that little bite of this and that when its offered/available. Just hang in there, drink lots of water, and stay 100% OP. You may also be backed up some so try some smooth move tea or if in a real bind a couple of senna tablets. But stay close to home, if you know what I mean. ;)

Lizn2000 07-07-2015 01:27 PM

frawniemae - yes! Janeva is so great! I created a binder full of recipes and her recipes take up about 50% of it. I've ordered her cookbook as well and can't wait until it arrives!

hysteria_625 07-08-2015 10:07 AM

Posted in the 2015 thread also, but looking for Biotin recommendations to help cull the recent hair loss.

GD - lol! Imvho (as someone w/o a coach & only using alt-prods), sometimes our bodies need a bit of a shake up. I though for sure when I returned from our 5 day trip to Indianapolis, I was going to be +++ on the scale - ate low carb, but had too much meat and fats on foods. Imagine my shock when the scale registered -6.0! That weekend was the first time in 4 months I really ate off plan. Do I recommend trying it - no, as I did it again this weekend, only this time add in a cob of corn, and I am still trying to bring the bloat down.
Not sure what the difference is (other than the corn which I know didn't cause 2.5#'s of weight gain, even if it was buttered...) - better safe than sorry :)

When I switched clinics a few months ago, my coach recommended Biotin. I buy it at GNC, it's a 600 mg tablet and I take 2 a day.

Beth -- I used these from Costco: Nature's Bounty Hair Skin Nails Softgels. 5000 mcg per serving. I took them maybe every 2-3 days.

I think they work, or maybe the hair loss just slowed on its own once I phased off. Lots of little hairs growing back now, so I hope the whole hair loss thing was temporary (and I hope the weight loss thing was not!). Good luck :)

hysteria_625 07-08-2015 02:32 PM

Thanks everyone! I am pretty vigilant about the supplements I take and try to avoid ones made in China. I also worry about getting too much of a supplement like this as my only symptom is the hair loss - no dry, cracked lips / skin, extreme fatigue, etc. apparently biotin deficiency is rare and my goodness I eat more food that contain biotin now (cauliflower, eggs!) than before

twoskoops 07-09-2015 11:35 AM

I started IP last week, and this is my first post here on 3FC!

I'm a 31-year old 6' man whose seen his weight jump from around 175 five years ago up to around 235. I had been floating around this 230 area for the past year, and finally wanted to get back to a reasonable weight. I started eating healthier in June, then decided to start IP. I had to wait a little while before there was an opening at the clinic near me, but I finally had my first consult last Monday, and started IP last Wednesday. I go in for my first weigh-in today!

So far, I haven't really had any problems with the diet, and have been following it 100%. I was hungry the first couple of days, but I feel fine now, with lots of energy, and no real food cravings. My wife also started doing a Paleo diet, so we eat the same dinner, which helps a lot (although she still gets to have some things I can't, and she's still enjoying the occaisional drink).

Current progress (all from my own scale, except the IP weigh-in with clothes)
End of May: 233.4
6/29 - IP consult: 224.0 (227.0 in-office weigh-in w/ clothes)
7/01 - Start IP: 219.6
7/08 - Yesterday: 212.2

So, I'm currently down 21.2 since May, 11.8 since my consultation last week, and 7.4 since starting IP.

I'm pretty happy with my progress so far, and hope it continues! Although I'm sure it will start to slow down a bit.

Beck Diet Solution Daily Tip

Wednesday Sabotage: I don’t want to get on the scale because I think I’ve gained weight.

Response: This is when it’s MOST important to get on the scale so I hold myself accountable. Not getting on the scale will prolong being off track; getting on it will help me start moving forward again. What I want in this moment is to be back on track and getting on the scale will enable that.

Think Thin Thursday

Are you sleeping enough? It’s important to remember that adequate sleep is critical for so many things, including keeping hunger and cravings under control. For weight loss AND for good health, sleep is just as important as healthy eating and exercise. Make it a priority!

funny that you mention the Wednesday Sabotage part. I was doing so well for the 1st 3 weeks of my being on IP, then on the 4th week, while on my period, I lost only about half a pound. I spiraled out of control and binged for 3 days due to my awful TOM cravings AND negative thoughts/feelings about only losing 1/2 a pound. I have my first weigh in today (since before I cheated) and KNOW I have gained quite a bit (hopefully mostly water weight). so nervous but need to get it done and over with! starting fresh for sure, though! will stay 100% OP :)

Welcome, and way to go! Your progress is fantastic, and it's great that you have done your homework and know the losses may slow down. Being ready for it helps you keep at it when it finally does happen.

I've been away for about a week now. I reasoned that I didn't have time to read and post, but really I was a little ashamed to show my face! :o

I fell off the wagon. HARD. :headache:

Not going to get into details, but I was terrible. Like, gorged-myself-on-awful-things terrible. I had a headache all night, and was hit with the C for four days afterwards and it was awful and uncomfortable.

But I got back on the wagon the day after. I'm back to my low weight from mid- last week, and I'm considering that to be my weigh in for last week since my scale read that I was up 3.5 pounds after that fiasco.

I needed to confess, but the main point of this post is that I'm back 100% OP. Nothing is irreparable.

twoskoops 07-09-2015 12:35 PM

Thanks Shark! And congrats on getting back OP despite your setback!
BTW, what does "hit with the C" mean? Cramps?

Grateful4Health 07-09-2015 12:44 PM

Welcome twoskoops - Big C on this board means constipation - it's an issue with some people with these types of protocols.

Hello Sharkie - back on the horse, no worries.:)

twoskoops 07-09-2015 12:57 PM

Ah, gotcha. I was suffering from that a little at first, but I started taking some Magnesium Citrate (plus morning coffee) which cleared all of that up for me. The first time I took too much of it, but now a small sip in the morning seems to keep things regular.

LegalEagle14 07-09-2015 01:47 PM

Hey iPeeps! I have a confession to make. For the last couple of weeks, I've been having lots of little cheats here and there. A bite of this, a bun with a lean burger, little bit of ranch for salad, etc. I was still losing, just slowly. Over 4th of July, I went off the wagon entirely. I had rice crispy treats, a cupcake, cheese cake, a burger, and lots of fruit. I did not drink any alcohol though (somehow I've convinced myself that's an absolute no-no, and actually stuck to it :) ). However, for the first time, I gained a 5.5 pounds at my weigh in. My home scale was less and only showed a one pound gain, but it was enough to convince me to put a stop to all the cheating.

I have been 100% OP for two whole days now, and it's not as hard as I thought it would be. It actually feels really good to be back on track, and the scale is already showing it. I just need to keep it up, and be more strict with myself. I was letting it slide because results were still showing. However, I don't want to be spending this much money forever, and I would only like to lose 15-20 more pounds, so I would like to go as fast as possible, and being on protocol is the way to do that.

Seems like I'm not the only one who has fallen off the wagon recently, and it's great to be able to come here and confess, and see that others have done it, and picked themselves back up as well!

Hope everyone continues to have a good week!

Newbie

Been on IP for almost four weeks, last weight in, was down 22 lbs of Fat up ten lbs of muscle. That part confuses me a bit. My weight in last week, I gained a lbs and followed the protocol. My Coach was allowing my friend and I to use the Meal Replacement shakes for lunch in Phase one, I am wondering if this had to do with it. She said it works with some people who have difficult jobs. I am a 911 Dispatcher and work a lot of hours, but I don't really trust the fact that she says this.

Love the quote Lisa - so true. No one is perfect, it's what we learn from our mistakes that matter :)

Response: This is when it’s MOST important to get on the scale so I hold myself accountable. Not getting on the scale will prolong being off track; getting on it will help me start moving forward again. What I want in this moment is to be back on track and getting on the scale will enable that.

Are you sleeping enough? It’s important to remember that adequate sleep is critical for so many things, including keeping hunger and cravings under control. For weight loss AND for good health, sleep is just as important as healthy eating and exercise. Make it a priority!

Sleep is certiainly my issue...

TCGIF everyone!

Woo Hoo! Made it to the 175 (albeit 175.6 :) ) and 40 lbs lost mark yesterday at weigh-in!!! Also had a repeat of the full body measurement and since starting I've lost a total of 44 inches! 7 just from my waist! :carrot:

I'm feeling so good in clothes now, whether it's getting dressed up or throwing on jeans and a t shirt. Those days of being either stuffed into my clothes like a sausage casing or not-so-successfully camouflaged with tent-like big shirts are SO over! :) Only very recently has my weight loss been really noticed and positive comments made about the weight I've lost, and it is so motivating! Nothing breeds success like success! :carrot:

Here's to a GREAT weekend for all!

3sisters, I know exactly what you mean about the clothes thing. As I've gotten smaller I've purged my closet of my fat clothes. I can't believe how awful some of those shirts really were. Who the heck was I fooling? Not a single person for sure, except for maybe myself but not any more. So happy to be able to wear "normal" clothes that flatter! I want to show off my smaller body now! But not in a bikini...nope...that will probably never happen again. I use to say because of there being "too much me" but now it is because of excess skin. But whatev!! At least there aren't pounds of fat in that skin now!

Happy Friday! and have a great OP weekend!
