Default Does IP help with miscarriage weight?

Hi all. Any other ladies have trouble losing weight after a miscarriage? Any of you try IP after a miscarriage to lose the weight? Success?

I did IP a few years back to lose my "law school weight" and it was successful. 2 years ago, I was a size 6, 140-145, muscular, got married and looked healthy and happy in all my pictures. The first year of marriage, I gained about 10-12 pounds due to a move, stress and poor eating habits.

Then I got pregnant in the fall and gained 5 pounds in my first trimester. We lost the baby at 12 weeks and have had two chemical pregnancies since then. Since the miscarriage, I have gained another 5 pounds. I work out and tried WW but I think my body is just full of hormones (either getting pregnant or recovering from pregnancy each month...) and it is having a hard time adjusting and losing weight.

My mom suggested I try IP again since it's pretty drastic (healthy, but drastic) and maybe it could help shock my body into losing weight. I figured I would sign up again and if it is working, I could try the diet until I get pregnant - be it 4 weeks, 8, 12, however long. I am hopeful that this will be the answer for me.

I would love any tips -- how do you lose the weight quickly? Just drinking the smoothies, no bars? Only water, no coffee, etc, etc. Any tips appreciated.

Chemical pregnancies??? Do you mean fertility drugs to conceive?

No, as in an early miscarriage. Your body is trying to get pregnant but doesn't implant properly. Get a positive pregnancy test then a few days later, it's gone and on to the next month.

I just wonder if this has been affecting me. Well, I mean, I know it has been affecting my weight. I see the proof on the scale. I am hoping that IP could help because its so restrictive.

Are you trying to conceive? If you are trying to conceive, I'd talk to your ob/gyn about your diet. I would be cautious about a VLCD while trying to conceive.

Yeah, hormones will screw you majorly... I'm going through the opposite problem... heading through menopause.

IP works great, but it isn't the sort of thing you should be going on & off of... You probably won't be losing much fat weight for the first couple weeks, as your body is getting rid of its glycogen stores and accompanying stored water. Then you will start to use the fat as an energy source instead of glycogen/carbs. You should phase off once you are at your goal loss instead of just dropping the diet midstream as that is a shock to your system. Perhaps you can concentrate on losing the weight and getting your hormones back in normal shape, then work on your pregnancy plans. Unless you are, like, 45 and your 'clock is ticking'. Just my personal feeling, but perhaps it's too much to focus on all at once. Never having been pregnant I can't begin to understand your feelings, but stress & grief are very difficult to work through and right now you should work on getting yourself feeling better and at your goal, then you can focus on bringing a new person to life.

Hugs!

Thanks for the tip...yeah, I talked to my husband about maybe doing this for a couple months to lose the weight. I am even fine if I don't get back to my thinnest, just getting back to where I was when I first got pregnant last fall.

A month or two off from trying. The Miscarriage and Chemical pregnancies have caused havoc on my body -- face is a broken out mess, I feel swollen and tired and gained weight. I think my body may need some "time off" to heal, lose weight and recover.

I am only 31 so I might put baby plans on hold.

katy I am sorry for your losses. Have you been to a fertility specialist yet? My SIL went through a similar issue (5 miscarriages) and they found out she wasn't producing enough progesterone.

One of the best pieces of advice I see given is to not "game" IP. The diet is designed to work fairly quickly, so long as you follow the protocol. IP has changed over the last couple years and the most current P1 protocol sheet is here:
http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/5040423-post79.html
Keep in mind that many people who restart say they lose slower - not that you won't lose, but it may not be as drastic as the first time.

Tips - keep it fresh, be open & willing to try new recipes and vegetables (there are some great recipe threads on the board). Water is essential - I've had 2C black coffee per day w/o any issues. Make sure you take the supplements, including SALT. I personally also do a 1/4t of Nu-Salt (potassium) and 1/8t Natural Calm (magnesium), the latter of the two is to help keep the system *moving*. Post your questions - there are some great people here on 3FC & I wouldn't have made it as far as I have without them

Hysteria -- thanks for the tips! I will look at the new protocol...and make sure to get my salt, veggies, etc in. I remember years ago, when I did it, I hit a STALL -- and it was because I wasn't eating enough. I had gotten to where I wasn't hungry because I was used to the strict diet and I would forget to eat a bar or shake, etc. Ha, but starting out, I won't forget, I will be counting down the hours until the next "meal" haha.

I am hoping that I am not a slow loser as a "restarter" -- since the last time I did this diet was YEARS ago...but even just losing, instead of gaining.

No, no fertility specialist yet. This month we are trying progesterone. Clearly we don't have issues getting pregnant just staying pregnant. Also, the chemical pregnancies may have been because my body was still healing from the late miscarriage.

I am considering taking a month or two off to lose this post pregnancy weight and heal. I will talk to the nurse about all this at IP Clinic tomorrow.

you don't live far from me -- I am in falls church! Thanks for the tips!

We had a hard time conceiving thanks to PCOS, My dr actually did recommend a low carb diet to try to remove as much fat as possible and then try again. I stopped doing Ideal protein and phased off and got pregnant 2 months after it. But I would for sure talk to your dr.

katy - this thread also has some good advice on where to get products locally (if you decide to incorporate some alternative products) and IP friendly restaurants. http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/idea...a-ip-p1-2.html

thank you hysteria! I appreciate that.

I start the diet tomorrow (although I have been eating light the past few days to get my body ready) My husband wants to go to the movies tonight so one last diet coke and popcorn

We are young, no kids and still go out for dates and time with friends, so I am glad for a list of options of where we can eat. Thanks for the tips!

Oh and I plan on using some alternate products. Already looking at Nashua to get an order in. I know that I have to buy a few things from the IP clinic to be polite since I am using their services...but I do want to get some for cheaper prices.

Hey ladies, putting on weight after miscarriages is observed in most of the cases and ladies are found in trouble encountering ways in order to overcome it and get back to normal. Check what Dr.Christine Waba tells about losing weight after miscarriages which will show up best results, check here http://15homeremedies.com/652/the-we...royer-program/

This site sells a 'program' and talks about Michael and his weight loss strategies.... there is nothing about any Dr. Christine Waba or miscarriages shown on it.
I would be very wary of this. There is very little real information to clarify what this is selling.
