Good morning everyone, I feel I am somewhat struggling to stay on track and be 100%. I keep sending myself positive thoughts and encouragement and telling myself - stay on track you've got this. I just dont feel I lost what I lost last week. Don't know if its because of the TOM and the time change. I will be 100% this week no doubt. Good luck to everyone.

ImASharkIPromise 03-09-2015 11:37 AM

Blame the pesky TOM and keep your spirits up!

Darn those TOMs...

momat40 03-09-2015 11:53 AM

I'll blame the time change for my blahhs this morning. We had guests that left this morning but I'm happy to report a loss. So happy that I didn't cheat while making them meals. Doing all the laundry and cleaning and feel pooped!!!

Tigridia 03-09-2015 12:58 PM

Interesting that the new sheet now permits 4 cups of "occasional" vegetables a week. I'm still working with my (2012 vintage) sheet, where tomatoes were almost literally the forbidden fruit.

the_magpie 03-09-2015 01:08 PM

I can't find the thread (apparently, I haven't absorbed my coffee yet, even though it's kind of late in the day), but people were talking at some length about exercise--cardio vs. strength-training--and it turns out IP has a video about it. (I was just about to share it, and then I realized it had an auth string, probably tied to my email. I love you all, but I love my anonymity, too. :D)

Here are the three articles they linked:
TLDR: Strength training is good, may build extra muscle, will definitely help you keep muscle, and will lead to a measurably higher basal metabolic rate (BMR) after the diet, which will make maintenance easier. There was also no indication given in the video that strength training would have an impact on IP (though I would still be inclined to have the extra raspberry jelly or blueberry pomegranate drink on the day I lifted). Cardio, on the other hand, is tricky: if you get too close to your maximum heart rate (as in, you are out of breath due to exercise), there's a chance your body will rob your muscles to get enough energy, and that will decrease your muscle mass and BMR over time.

If you haven't heard of BMR, that is how many calories it takes for your body to be alive--if you just stay in bed all day, how many calories your body burns, just breathing and staying warm.

I'm going to cross-post this to the science thread, too.

The owner of the gym where I get my IP from mentioned in a conversation I overheard that doing IP without a coach is dangerous? Does anyone know what she might be talking about? And they can apparently get in trouble for selling IP products to people not signed up with their coach? Any thoughts?

I follow the protocol on my own using non IP products. One should not buy products packaged as IP from someone who is not a coach.

Not sure about it being dangerous sans coach, but with any diet or weightloss program you should be in touch with a medical professional.

Dangerous? Seriously?
Sounds like an attempt at marketing thru scare tactics. It's not like this is a truly "medically monitored" program anyway. Most coaches are lay people.

IP DOES limit sales to clinics and coaches aren't supposed to discount. Otherwise clinics wouldn't be able to compete with discounters.

Occasional veggies have always been limited to twice weekly. I think this is just further defining it: two 2-cup servings per week - or...I guess you could spread them out more but my coach asked them to be limited to twice weekly.

It can be dangerous, because people can miss out on important aspects of the program, like getting enough vegetables, enough fats, the right vitamins, etc. If you have a solid understanding of nutrition and access to the latest PDFs that are passed out to the clinic--and maybe a forum like this where you can ask questions :)--it's probably not a big deal to go it alone.

I've seen people who do have coaches say some scary things, so I'm not sure just any coach is a guarantee against danger.

And, yeah, make sure your doctor is on board with what you're doing, especially if you're going to do this without a clinic that has its own doctor. (Both of my clinics HAVE had doctors, but I've never met them. Hmm. Though I do know they looked over my paperwork when I started, so that's something.)

Also, they are definitely not allowed to sell the IP stuff without doing the coaching and all that. You can get some of it on ebay, but honestly, if you're going coach-free, there are lots of good alternatives you can use. I like the WonderSlim stuff fairly well, and most of their aspartame-free line is IP-compliant. (Not the pasta entrees, though, wow.)

This is true for any diet if people don't have some knowledge about what they are doing...INCLUDING the unhealthy diets that make us fat!

The coach part makes sense as they make commissions on the products sold - but I agree with Lisa that it sounds like scare tactics - unfortunate.

I had a funny conversation with my 20 yr old son who was telling me he should be my coach because he would really lay it on the line if I was cheating etc. and my 22 yr old daughter said he might be out of a job pretty quick! He said " oh yeah, no I would say 'mom you are doing great see you next week' just to keep that paycheque coming in! And for all her referrals!" Sometimes I wonder...😄

P2 or P3 better on vacation?

I'm at the point where I can move on to Phase 2 (and in fact am way too full from my first P2 lunch today - bleh). However, we are going on spring break vacation in exactly two weeks. Having spent a lot of time now on these threads researching P3 breakfasts and how much more complicated things seem to get in P3, I am a little concerned that it will be too hard to be in my first week of P3 while on vacation (even though we will have a kitchenette where I can make my own breakfasts, etc.)

Can anyone with experience "weigh in" on whether it just makes more sense to push things back a week so that I start P2 next week and then P3 after getting home from vacation? Or am I just overcomplicating P3 in my head and being a ninny?

CenTXChk 03-09-2015 05:30 PM

Down 3.8lbs this morning for a total of 96.8lbs and 53in lost. My coach wrapped her tape measure around me and held her tape measure to my original starting inches for my bust, hourglass and hips. I just cannot get over how big I was. What a shocker! I have an original pair of jeans that I’ve held onto. I am thinking I should try them on to see how they look.

Funny, I am still big in my mind…but not that big. Although I was always thinner in my head (you know when you would catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror and were shocked at how large you were?).

Without thinking, I drove to Lane Bryant this weekend to buy some new bras. The salesperson was very kind and measured me for my new size. She asked if I had lost a large amount of weight and then referred me to another shop that carried my size. I have shrunk out of everything in that store. That’s a good thing but weird. I’ve been shopping there for years. I actually think I was thin shamed by a couple shoppers who looked annoyed and gave me the stink eye. Why would I be in “their” store taking up their salesperson’s time when I didn’t belong there. I have been shunned from my people.

On a brighter note, I went down the street and found 2 new bras and a swimsuit….in a size 12. WTH!?! Me in a 12. Me in a swimsuit. My thighs look horrible but I was able to find a suit with a skirt that partially hid the sagging.

On the plus, once I got my new bras several items in my closet I’ve been waiting to shrink into fit. I was so excited, I was convinced I would be inches smaller when I was measured this morning. I was actually the same measurement, just higher I guess. Walking around with a new found confidence today. Who knew a bra could do that to a girl?

kimo88 03-09-2015 05:35 PM

Congrats CenTXChk!! Haha, thin shamed. I guess there is such a thing! Gotta love what a new bra can do!! I just got a few new bras last weekend and my girls looked so much better, and I felt way better! Keep walking around with that confidence, you deserve it, you've done so well and you're so inspiring!

canadjineh 03-09-2015 05:43 PM

Haha, thin-shamed.... yes, I had that experience as well. Before I gained my weight (at the same lbs as now), I walked into a Pennington's (similar 'larger ladies' store in Canada) to buy a gorgeous hat that I saw in the window for an upcoming wedding. I also got the stink-eye from a couple customers and even a salesperson. Discrimination is bad in both directions. I bought the hat anyway, because it was awesome.
I was tempted to stick my tongue out at them all though! :p

I love your anecdotes of the CenTxChk takes on skinniness!!!! :D:D:D:D:D

So glad you found swimsuit, got some new homes for 'the girls', and found the value of a good foundation when it comes to fitting into certain styles!!!

3.8lbs!!!!! Fabulous!!!!

rebelgrl87 03-10-2015 07:28 AM

Good morning. Had weigh in yesterday. Down 4 lbs. So glad to see the scale move this week. I was glad to see the thread last week about exercising. I started back a couple weeks ago. One thing I have noticed though is that my energy levels are through the roof. The diet alone has given me back energy I had been lacking but it seems that adding in the exercise has increased my energy levels even more. Has anyone else experienced this? I have noticed though that I am sleeping around 5 or 6 hours and then am wide awake ready to go.
Great job CentralTXchk. It is so exciting to go shopping and buy smaller sizes.
Hope everyone has a great OP day.

morningal 03-10-2015 08:44 AM

CenTXChk, Love it! Looking forward to some thin shamed days ahead. Congrats on your loss!

Ro22 03-10-2015 09:12 AM

I thought I would chime in on yesterday's conversation around monitoring and who can administer, dangerous, etc.

Here is an excerpt from an email exchange with my coach - I find this interesting because at no point in 7 months prior was this shared with me. It only came out after I questioned the medical supervision after reporting significant changes in energy with light-headedness and constant headaches.

I find it funny because at no time did anyone ever say, "let's have a closer look". It was always drink the water and take the supplements, etc which I told him I was doing. And, it was always keep doing Phase 1. So, if what he writes is true, then perhaps too much onus is on the improperly trained coach to know when to leverage these resources??? So, know this is what is told to the coaches so if you need additional help, ask your coach to consult the doctor whose office this is being performed from or from the panel they have access to.

"This program can only be conducted out of a Dr. Office. Every dieter is screened by the Dr.s protocol. Not to mention a science board I have at my disposal(panel of Dr.s) From start to finish there are people behind the scenes who have a hand in this."

winewanderer 03-10-2015 09:26 AM

Ro22 -- Even that statement is incorrect! The program can be, and clearly is, conducted out of places other than doctor's offices. My clinic is more of a spa (offers massages, facials, laser hair removal...) however, the coaches are nurses. Not a doctor in sight!

kimo88 03-10-2015 09:51 AM

My clinic doesn't have nurses or doctors. They're just regular people who have done the program. So that statement is extra incorrect in my case haha!

I had my weigh in yesterday, no weight loss but 2 inches lost. I'll take it! Here's to more inches (and hopefully lbs) this week! I just made a nice batch of lemon and herb chicken last night to get me through the rest of this week and picked up some veggies so I'm ready to go!

I loved your note about shopping! This is something that I have really been struggling with. I have been completely overwhelmed with the new options and at times miss the protection of little optîons in the plus sections of department stores. I am sure this will pass but it is certainly more complicated!

JJTx 03-10-2015 10:33 AM

Looks like a great week in 3FC land - scale whooshes, inches lost, NSV's, thin-shaming, oh my! :D

Slow week for me, 1.2 pounds gone for good. I'm also down 2.5 inches from three weeks ago. Slow and steady wins the race right? I'm just sort of in "eat, sleep, repeat" mode.

LegalEagle14 03-10-2015 10:54 AM

Morning IPeeps! I weighed in last night and am down another .9 for a total of 13.9 lbs. I was also down 2.25 inches. I'll take it! I didn't feel like I'd have a huge loss this week, TOM should be coming around this weekend, so I'm just feeling a little bloated this week. Hopefully the larger losses will continue after this!

larn37 03-10-2015 11:18 AM

Down 1.4 pounds and lost some in my body fat% and lost 1.5" in waist. I will take that... I was wanting more pounds lost, but I know there are things I need to work on. I am feeling really tired in afternoons for some reason, not sure why and sluggish. 8 weeks into program and down 16.4 pounds, was wanting to be more, I need to loose 40 more by June. Congrats to everyone for all the hard work.. We've got this.

MiWi 03-10-2015 12:11 PM

Congrats on everyone's great work! I too had my weigh-in last night. I lost another 2.2 for a total of 28.2. Yay! People are really noticing at work that I have lost weight now. Plus, I am now able to fit into some of my cute Spring dresses that I haven't worn in a while, so I'm excited. I know how CenTXChk feels...I looked at a sizing chart and realized, "Wait, I'm not in plus size anymore." It's a weird feeling. I guess it's a compliment if people don't think we belong in Lane Bryant or Torrid (love that store!) or Women's department anymore...must mean we look like we are naturally like this (tricked them!).

Kellyc14 03-10-2015 12:14 PM

Ok ya'll having a really tough time. :( I had a very stressful week last week, more so than usual! My brother was in from NY and we went to New Orleans on Saturday, I went off plan, I won't go into detail, but it was only one day and I am up 4lbs. I didn't go to my weigh in today because my coach told me that she would kick me out of the program if I gained weight. :( I didn't feel like getting lectured and berated when I know where I messed up. I didn't feel like defending my actions. I messed up. I know I messed up. I'm back on track. I need encouragement not to be fussed at. I hate this.

I told my coach that I over slept and would have to reschedule, but I'm just going to skip this week and go back next week. I think it's a shame that I am afraid of my coach!

DeterminedDieter 03-10-2015 12:21 PM

Hello fellow IPeeps,

Congrats on on the scale losses, NSV and staying strong and OP. I was down 2.5lbs this week bringing me just 3.5lbs from goal.

I am getting ready to move to Phase 2 this week, either Friday or Saturday, I hope it's as easy to eat the lunch protein as I think it will be :) I have a feeling I may just go between one or two meals for the duration of Phase 2 and 3. I'm thinking tuna wraps with a side of salad and chicken in my salad :) I'm pretty boring with my food. But you never know, I could throw in a taco salad or burger to change things up. I'm not looking forward to the extra prep and cooking :)

NSV - I thought I would be fine for maintenance in the pants I bought in January, but now I'm thinking I may have gone down a size since then!

I hope everyone has a strong OP day :)

Wooooooaaaah! She said she would kick you off the program if you gained?! What the ****!! That's ridiculous!! Don't worry about the up 4lbs. It's probably all water weight. Seriously, it will be gone in NO time! You're human, you aren't perfect. Life happened and you're back on track now. It's what you do after a blip in your journey that defines your success, not the little blips on the way. Congratulations for getting back on track so quickly!!

Seriously though, your coach sounds like a jerk. I would have skipped my weigh in too if my coach said that to me. Do you have any other clinics in your area you could go to? I don't think it's great to be ruled by fear in your journey. I'm actually mad about this!!

That's terrible! You should not be made to feel that way. You certainly shouldn't have to defend your actions. And how would it be good for you or them if they kicked you out!? It sounds ridiculous!

But, don't let it make you feel bad, we all know it's not fat gain causing the scale to go up that much, and that it will be down in no time. Good for you for getting right back OP :)
