Oct.Newbies 2013 Moving forward in March
Hi all,
Can you believe that it is already March? Hopefully the weather will warm up soon and we can all start moving more in the great outdoors. Another move was to return to the original thread name, since it confused many! Let's just keep on moving forward, putting one foot in front of the other and taking it one bite at a time. |
Cant believe it is March!!!
|
Moving forward! Good title Slip!
|
Hard to believe it is March already. It will be shorts and swimsuit season soon. Keep pushing friends. When I read the title of "moving forward", it gave me something to think about. The world will continue on no matter if I eat clean and exercise or not. So it is a 100% up to me if I am going to get these up pounds off and keep the weightloss off. I already knew this, but is sometimes a good reminder to see/think about it again.
Last night I decided I was going to start my training for the 5K in June. I have a couch to 5K app on my phone so I will use that. I started on week 5 which was a challenge but do able. I think I will stick with that week for a couple of weeks until I get into running again. Then move to the next week. I am meeting with a personal trainer tomorrow. She wants to talk to me about my goals before she makes a exercise plan for me. Looking forward to the meeting to see what she has to say. Happy Sunday everyone! |
Hi everyone,
Eggs for dinner tonight. Chicken did not thaw. Hawaii, forward-not backward or UP! Lol. I need some motivation to put one foot in front of the other and stay focused. Think it will be easier after my Spa weekend to stick to it for a longer period to get to my low range. Want2b, how was the trainer? It seems so much harder right now to limit the off plan bites. Hopefully,it is just the winter blues. How was Monday for all of you? |
Hey there;
Monday has been okay although I've been hungry due to TOM. I'm trying not to go crazy. I am actually craving protein which is funny. Better than chocolate! And because of TOM and a bad weekend, I am above my scream weight!!! Trying not to panic though, happens every month. Glad I'm keeping up with the exercise. I have zumba tonight, its been a couple weeks since I've gone. I hope you are all doing well today. |
Lost 4.8 lbs this week. I am thrilled!!! Thx everyone for your long term support!! Xo
|
:woohoo: :yay: :bravo: Way to go, Luccilove! So happy for you :D
|
Lucci: great job on the scale!! Keep it up.
Hawaii: great attitude. Stay the course, the scale will take care of itself after TOM. Slip: the trainer was good, I wasn't sure what to expect since I have never had one before. She is going to let me do my own cardio but she is setting up a weight routine for me. Then she will take me to the gym, show me how to use the equipment and walk me thru the routine. Kind of makes me nervous! Lol. So I got a good phone call today. The office I worked in part time last year called today, they want me to work for 2 weeks while someone is on holidays. It is during spring break so I wouldn't be working my other job anyway, so it works out great. |
Way to go LUCCILOVE!

Ugh, I just typed out a big post and lost it. Long story short, I'm on day 3 of Phase 1 and so far so good. I was so busy yesterday that I didn't even think about food.
WTG Luccilove! |
Congrats on buying the IP clinic!!!!
|
Hi everyone,
Good OP day. More snow coming down tonight, it is supposed to go to sleet then rain, and back to snow. Feel like I am stuck in a snow globe. Liana, you are not alone. Nights are my challenge too. I am just too hungry when i get home. I think I need to go back to phase 3 breakfasts after my spa weekend. Hope your stress lessens and your cravings scram! Steph, Glad that your phase 1 is going well. Want2b, that was a great phone call and perfect timing for your spring break. You will do fine with the trainer. You are an athlete- golf, softball... Just have faith in yourself. Hawaii, stay strong! Your plan for healthy food choices is a good one. If your body needs more protein then plan it in. Mine wants sugar! |
Okay, maybe I am setting myself up for failure... I took inventory in the fridge this afternoon, and found the following:
A little block of Feta cheese A big block of Old (light) Cheddar A big block of Herb & Chive Cheddar 2 rounds of Boursin French Cream Cheese A med size block of local artisanal grass fed Extra Aged Smoked Gouda A tub of shredded French Gruyere from another artisanal grass fed local (20 cow) herd A little 200g tub of bleu cheese Almost 2.5 kilograms of cheese for 2 people. That could be a bit excessive, no? Works OK for maintenance, but not so great for getting off the 'up-pounds.' Oh well, I'm not snacking tonight but then again my lunch was weirdly off track as we had no sleep last night and an emergency dental visit for DH at 11 am. He had a very bad abscess in a molar that had a partial root canal and temp filling over a year ago. It took 1.5 hours to drain and clean up and now he has to go to the oral surgeon after he's finished his course of antibiotics to get it pulled, as the two dentists working on him discovered a hidden crack that means a crown wouldn't have worked anyhow. Steph will know what I'm talking about here. :( More stress, more pain, more money... At least I can cheer all you other guys on! So much good news, it's nice to come here & look at the upside and (at least) the positive attitudes! :broc::yay::broc: Liana |
Liana, sorry that you are going through even more hassle and that your DH is in pain :(
But... I had to laugh at your variety and quantity of cheese! Are you part mouse?lol |
Thanks Luccilove! I have my first new client tonight. I am super excited. She has done the program before.
I'm sorry to hear about your husband's dental woes Liana. It's never cheap. Do you have dental insurance? You may just have a cheese "problem". Do we need to call Intervention? TOM came early. It's not as bad as usual. I have been taking a drop of iodine in my water every day and it has cured my sore breasts. Sorry if that's TMI. My mom had been bugging me to try it for awhile and I'm amazed at the lack of issues this time around. Good luck with the new trainer want2b! Stay out of the cupboards Slip. That spa weekend will be so nice especially after the crap weather you've been having. I think it's almost harder trying to stay on track before a holiday because you know you're planning on going off the rails. I always think, "ahh, what's an extra day of bad eating". That is why I'm doing Phase 1 for 2 weeks before this next cruise! Good luck :) |
Thanks for your good wishes, gals! DH is feeling much better after the drainage and antibiotics starting their work already... he's headed off to work that he had to postpone from yesterday. We don't have dental insurance... that's what happens when you work for yourself, lol. We haven't had many dental issues throughout our adult lives so technically we have probably saved money in the long run. Our dentist is also a customer (business & residential) so we trade value of work for dental work $ for $ on our account with them.
Iodine? Interesting concept, steph, never heard of it helping before. Great that it works for you & your mom! As for this 'mouse' vs. cheese Intervention... maybe you better bring it on, lol :mouse::cheese:. Although I shouldn't have a problem now, since I got my period this morning (sorry TMI). It's so weird, it is almost as instant as a switch being thrown (the cheese craving cuttoff, that is), and I know it's not just in my mind. I think it's strangely like an alcoholic, craving for alcohol and not being able to physically moderate their drinking. Then BAM! all of a sudden it's like a take-it-or-leave-it type of feeling for a drink. I wonder how each of the hormone levels affect the cheese craving. What is my body wanting so desperately at that time that's in cheese? BTW, the 'big' old Light Cheddar block disappeared sometime before 11:30 last night (don't ask me how :o)... Liana |
Slip: how is the weather? Hopefully it's not too bad. Enjoy your spa weekend. Thanks for the trainer encouragment. I had to laugh at you calling me an "athlete". That is something I have never been called!
Liana: Glad DH is better. Tooth pain sucks. Amazed at your cheese selection, on a really good day we have cheddar AND mozzarella in the fridge. Lol Steph: good luck with the client, I am sure she will love you. My sip takes iodine as well, and it works well for her. Add me to the TOM category too! That explains the big drop in the scale. Hopefully the scale will keep dropping next week. Started my training for the part time office job. I am getting 5 days of training but most of the stuff needs to be done in the AM and I can only train 2 days in the AM. My trainer is good and I told her my concerns. She said she will start doing detailed notes for me so that should help. |
Hi,
I have been out of the cupboards since Sunday :) Frankly, there is nothing good to eat in there! Steph, good luck with your first client! I really do need this spa break. This winter is making me crabby! Wish I was off to a warm place though. Want2b, you are pretty active. Golf, softball, gym... That is an athlete to me! The weather was cleared up for the commute. Expecting more snow tonight. Liana, now I wonder which mouse in the house ate the cheddar? Great deal that you get to trade services with the dentist. As for TOM, I am out of cycle with ya'all. Jenny, how ya doin? Luccilove, hi! |

Quote from Feb thread:
I bought myself a pink & black checked fleece onesie with a hood and wrist & ankle cuffs that look like the sockmonkey work socks. It's Heaven!!! I wish I'd bought one a while ago, but there was a winter clearout 50% off sale at a local store so it was only $30. And SO worth it! If I get brave I may post a picture, lol. TAA DAA!!! DH took a picture for me this morning (no makeup - eek!) Liana |
Very cute!!!
|
Good morning,
Snow day here. Sure is pretty outside as the snow is clinging to the trees. The snow day makes for a nice long weekend for me since I have a personal day tomorrow. Back in range this morning. Yay! Liana- cute onesie! Steph- how was your first client meeting? Want2b- good luck with your job training. |
Liana -love the onesie. Super cozy.
It's been a crazy week just dropped in to say hi. Need to get the kids to school but will recheck in later. Steph. Congrats on first client. |
Our thread isn't on the front page of the forum today! I thought I'd better post to fix that...
Day 7 of Phase 1. I haven't been very good about getting all my veggies in and making sure I eat at the right times when I'm busy with the IP clinic. I'm down 1.2 lbs which isn't epic for the first week of Phase 1 but I am doing my darndest to stay OP for another week. I miss my big breakfasts. DH's apple looked so tasty tonight!!! The weather in Calgary today was beautiful. I love to see that sun shining. Tomorrow is a full day off with no work. I can't wait. I've been a raging hangry chicken with my head cut off lately. Have a great weekend lovelies! S. |
Hi girls! Tooting my horn: 1 yr anniversary in maintenance. :twirly: Have a wonderful weekend full of Good food, fun activities, and healthy families!
Liana |
Congrats Liana!!! Happy 1 year in Maintenance!
|
Wonderful Liana!!! Very proud.
I have not been feeling well this weekend at all. Lost of pain near my sternum/chest. Went to a chiropractor and massage therapist. They think I did something with a muscle or a rib but said to go check out other stuff at the doctors. I am thinking a rib issue or gallbladder? I do have gallstones. This is the 3rd time in maybe 9 months I have had this pain. Usually it goes away in 24 hrs this time it has not. I don't think it is a heart think. I am not sweating I am not nausea. My shoulder blades hurt etc. I will go get XRAY and MRIs on Mondays. I still am ok eating. Very uncomfortable bending over, breathing deep, burping or sneezing. So annoyed. |
Liana: Congrats on the anniversary! That one seems like a big one.
Lucci: hope you are feeling better soon. What about going to the ER? Monday seems like a long time away if you are in pain. Had a couple of cheap dinners the last couple of days. Back 100% tomorrow. I did get in a run and a 5km walk today so I think that will help. Been drinking my water too. Hope everyone's weekend is going well. |
Hi Oct '13 newbies! I wanted to check in and say hi. Also, congratulate everyone on maintaining and/or rebooting to get to goal!
Congrats Liana on your 1 year maintenance anniversary! Steph- Best wishes with your IP clinic and coaching! I think the best coaches are the ones who have been through the program. Slipfree- Hope you're not freezing to death! Also, it's always reassuring for me to revisit this board and read about you conquering struggles and motivating others. You've always been a great motivator to me, as have everyone else on this board! Want2B & Hawaii- Great to see you're doing well and still dedicated to exercise. That continues to be my weak point, but I am walking more to train for a 39 mile Breast Cancer walk in July. I need to walk 3 miles today which shouldn't be bad. Just have to stick with the training schedule whether I like it or not! I'm happy to read everyone's posts and see that everyone is still doing a great job on the program. I'm sure I've missed a lot by not being on the boards much, but just wanted to check in and say hello. |
Liana- Happy Thin- aversary!!! so happy for you!
Kooky, welcome back. I have missed you. Good luck with your walking training schedule. Wonderful cause! Luccilove, how are you feeling? Steph, hope you enjoyed your day off. Sun here today too! Yippee! Want2b, I was obviously not OP for the spa weekend, but I am back on track today. |
Hi Kooky, good to see you again! WTG on your walk training!
LUCCI, how did the tests go...? remind your doc that women's heart attacks are NOT like men's symptoms - it would be good to rule that out too... How are all you gals dealing with the time change? :faint:It hits me hard, the losing 1 hr of sleep, especially since it comes in the middle of a busy weekend and during my work shift. It doesn't help when I have wacky sleep issues and alpha wave difficulties anyhow. Beautiful sunshine although frosty in the morning, but hubby is off & working full time now so that will make it easier for me to schedule some exercise and 'girlfriend time.' Looking forward to more walks outside again! Liana |
Thanks everyone for checking in on me. Went to Doctors today and he did an EKG on me to make sure it was not a heart issue. I am fine in that department. My wonderful husband stayed home with me today to take me to all the appointments as it is was too sore for me to drive. Was very happy about that.
I am going tomorrow for an ultrasound on my gallbladder to make sure that is ok. I do have gallstones. Thur I am going for an MRI on my chest and shoulder. I also did blood work today. My doctor thinks it is most likely some sort of pull/strain on a muscle that is aggravating a rib or sternum. Like if you lift heavy weights or lift something to heavy. My husband and I agree with him but better to be save then sorry. My insurance covers everything so we are going to check stuff out. I don't have the pressure on my chest anymore just soreness near shoulder blade and side near rib cage area. Amazingly I still was able to weigh in and lost 1.6lbs so happy to have done that. I hate when I miss a weigh in. My office is in full support and was happy I was doing ok. So I will report back once I have some results. This week I am doing a lot of resting. I think my body and mind needs it in general. I can not go to chiropractor or a massage till all is well. Totally understand. Thanks everyone!!! |
Lucci: Hang in there, glad to know it isn't heart related. Hope the pain passes soon.
Liana: So far the time change has been fine, it will probably catch up to me in a few days. Walking outside is wonderful, just got back! Great exercise and clears the mind. Slip: How was the spa weekend? Thought about you this weekend. DH is going away for work April 28th and I get to go with him this time! Beautiful resort right on a lake, can't wait. I have already mapped out my morning run! LOL. Kooky: Glad you are checking in. 39 miles! Wow. Good for you. DH is away for work this week, and I am doing 3 days of training for the other job! Should be a busy, busy week for me. Looking forward to the weekend already! |
Thanks for welcoming me back!
Lucci-I'm glad your heart is healthy! I hope the doctors find the cause and a solution to your pain soon. Congrats on your WI! Liana- DST is nice for the extra sunlight at the end of the day, but I'm all messed up from it. I couldn't fall asleep until 11, which is late for me on a "school night," then I was up at 4:30 this morning. I hope to adjust soon and hopefully the exercise will help. Hope your sleep schedule gets back in sync too and you get to enjoy more time outdoors! Slipfree- I hope you enjoyed your spa weekend! That sounds great! How was it? want2be- The business trip with your husband sounds fabulous and good for you for already planning your exercise! I bet it will be a beautiful place to run. Good luck with your new job training and hope your week isn't too hectic. I just did two P1 days because of my weight creeping up. I had lost almost 10 lbs past my goal weight and all of my new clothes were baggy on me, then gained back about 5 which I was kind of happy about because my clothes fit better, then the other 5 came along, and that was when I had to do something because my pants were feeling tight. I'm down about 2-3 lbs from my highest weight. I'm hoping to lose a couple more or just tone up from working out. I've sticked up my refrigerator with healthy stuff and don't have any business travel scheduled for now, so perfect time to get myself back to my happy weight. The past couple of months I've been traveling 2 weeks out of the month and enjoying somd great local foods, wine, beers, in my sales territory. I must have gone overboard because I gained 10 lbs pretty quickly. Lesson learned and back to bring more vigilant. Hope everyone has a good day! |
Hi all,
The spa weekend was fun, it seems like a long time ago now :(. Received a really mean letter from a parent today, sent to my boss too. Holding kids accountable for assignments is no longer popular with some parents. Kooky, good to catch the UP pounds early :) Your work travel sounds fun. Want2b, your trip sounds great. Good luck with the training. Luccilove, glad that you are following up with tests. Hope the pain goes away soon. Hurray for your weight loss. Liana, I am exhausted too. You must be enjoying your "free" time. Hi Hawaii! |
Slip... sorry for your experience... what is the matter with some parents? How do they expect their child to hold or even get a job if they don't complete the tasks asked of them... Or maybe they are planning on supporting this child into their old age. Good luck with that - :s: they will end up as those abused elders that are just taken economic advantage of until they die.
Sorry all, that was rather dark! I've dealt with parents in dysfunctional families like that who 'fixed' everything for their almost adult children when they got into any difficulties. Made for a huge mess all around later. Lucci: Waaah on the gallstones - is it possible to break them all up with ultrasound? That would be the least invasive if possible but I know it isn't always. Liana |
Slip- Glad you had fun on your spa weekend! I'm sorry to hear about the nasty letter from the parents. You'd think they'd be coming down on their child for not doing his/her homework. I'm not surprised though after hearing horror stories from my mom when she was a teacher prior to her retirement.
I completely agree with you Liana...I don't see how kids raised like that could ever function on their own in society. |
Slip: I feel for you, dealing with parents is never easy. Not sure how some parents think. The school here is not allowed to fail a child! I think if my child doesn't meet the requirements for that grade they should be held back. Pushing them thru is only going to set them up for failure next year. But that is just my opinion.
My week has been so busy and it is only Wed! Training is going well, one more day of that and I am on my own next week. |
Hi all;
Well, its been a busy time and wasn't feeling great last week with a combination of flu and that time of the month. So, was exhausted. My exercising hasn't been great but am feeling better and hope to get back at it tomorrow. I was 3lbs over my scream weight due to TOM and eating terrible but am now down that 3lbs and working at getting down to the low range. Its always a work in progress. And trying to get that water in. Nice to see you back Kooki! And hope you are feeling better Lucci. Slip, parents don't get it sometimes and pay the price when their kids get older. I agree Want2b! I hope things slow down for you. Hi Liana and Jenny. |
Hello ladies,
Liana- congralations on your one year anniversary!! what a huge accomplishment. I loved reading your response to Slip's comment about parents who don't let their kids take responsibility. I cheered out loud:bravo: Slip - glad the spa weekend was a hit. Sounds like you had a hard day yesterday, I hope your boss had your back. I had a clients father take a strip off me on the phone last week, I had to tell him I was hanging up. He told me he was calling my manager to complain and he did. Thankfully she supported me and was able to de-escalate the situation.....for now. It is always hard when that happens and you feel like you've been "slimmed" ( at least that's what my boss called it). Hawaii- I hope your feeling better. Ease back into the exercise. Your doing great managing your weight.. Kooky - 39 mile walk that is amazing! Is that something that you do Over the course of a weekend? Want2be - sounds like you are working hard on P1, I'm sure working in the clinic is motivating. How is it going? Lucci- I hope your feeling better and the end result is a pulled muscle that heals quickly. Good for you for getting all the tests done and being thorough. Life feels a little overwhelming for me in the past week or so. Work is way to busy and I noticed the stress there increase my appetite and the. I want sugar or carbs for comfort. I am making changes to my schedule for next month to protect my time better to reduce stress. I can't keep this pace up and I won't throw off my health or eating habits for it, I have decided I'm to important. My daughter is struggling in gr 1. I have a learning disabilityand she presents with a similar profile at times. So after talking with her teacher who is amazing and really gets my daughter, we are getting a psychological educational assessment done. We started the process last week. DH still hasn't had any job prospects and I feel like time is running out but in reality he still has 5 months left of work. Ok that is it for my unload....it helps to dump it here. Thank you |
