Just having my morning coffee and then I need to finish packing for my trip. Flight is at 10. IP food bag and supplements are ready to roll....going to miss my cold RTD vanilla every morning, but no fridge in our hotel room so I will have to make due with something else. Brought plenty of choices.
Hope everyone has a good day! Keep me in your thoughts....3 days with my mom lol.....

Maybe you can bring the vanilla RTD and fill the ice bucket with ice and put in with the ice over night. If it's done late enough it might be cold enough in the morning I hope you have a pleasant trip.
TGIF IPeeps! It's been a long week even with a snow day to break it up. I'm looking forward to the weekend even with nothing planned (sometimes that's the best).
Hi Sue. Have a great vacation. Can you put the vanilla drink in the ice bucket overnight? It would be cold first thing in the morning....
I'm going to enjoy a rare Friday off from work. I'm having tea with IP choc chip pancake muffins while I watch GMA. Next up, a coffee visit with friends, followed by an acupuncture treatment. I snagged an afternoon salon appointment for a haircut and can finally get to my favorite yoga class this evening! I might even window shop at the mall, unless a nap seems like a better idea.
I hope everyone else has a great Friday. Be good to yourselves. You deserve it!
Good Friday Morning! Day 5 on the program. Have moved past the feeling sick. Yay! Hope everyone has a great day. So glad to have found this site to keep me encouraged and lots of helpful info. Looking forward to first weighin on Monday since starting IP.

Congratulations!!! The first week is tough but you made it!!!
________
Good Morning!!! Had my weight in this morning and -2 on the scale. So I'm at -4 after three weeks OP. Since I am rebooting and using alternatives I assumed I would lose at a slower pace, but I am still a bit disappointed in the scale The inches are starting to go though. I'm wondering if I should start to do some walking on the TM?
Anyway, it's looking like a Noreaster is going to hit NJ tonight into tomorrow so any weekend plans will most likely be scrapped for Saturday. I'm leaving for Costa Rica on the 31st so I will most likely pack up my bags tomorrow. Looks like I will be going off program for the 10 days - they have fresh pineapple there and I could eat my weight in pineapple!!! At least I will get a lot of exercise zip-lining and white water rafting.
Frustrating morning so far, but I KNOW IP works and I will stick with it!!

Wow, that sounds like a wonderful day! I hope you enjoy it
I had my first WI this morning since starting again on Tuesday, and I am down 2.4 lbs! Pretty pleased with this number since it has only been a few days since restarting, and I just started my TOM this morning. My waist and bust went up .25", so I'm guessing that is bloat. Hopefully next week will show even better numbers after all of that water retention goes "whooshhh"!
I am also in good spirits due to mixing up my boxes. Since I started in Nov., I've pretty much stuck to a lot of the same: chicken soup, cappuccino RTD, blueberry cran-granata, orange drink, etc. I am not really a "sweets" person other than craving something for dessert, so having sweet foods all the time was really irritating me! Today I got the cappuccino RTD (morning staple), BBQ Crisps, and Lemon Wafers (MY FAVORITE).
I'm a little confused because my coach was concerned that if I have these three items a day, I will be eating too many carbs. She has been trying to keep me under 30/day, so I will be close to maxed out by eating each of these and not counting my veggies. She suggested only eating half of the crisps or half of the wafer, but I really want to have the entire thing

It sounds like your coach has not really done much research on how ketogenesis works. Here's the thing. The IP products and the food list are DESIGNED to ensure that you are low enough on carbs to get into ketosis. I have seen coaches who don't really understand the body processes well make the assumption that you HAVE to be at the bare minimum carb intake to get into ketosis, but unless you are highly carb sensitive (which is NOT the norm), it simply isn't true. If you are eating 2 unrestricted packets, 1 restricted packets and your veggies from the list every day, you will be fine.
courtneyf2 I agree with scorbett on this one. In fact, if you start eating half packets it's likely that you won't eat ENOUGH calories and your body will turn to your muscles for energy to sustain you throughout the day. The plan is designed to allow you 2 unrestricted and 1 restricted in a day. Also, to say that the 3 packets will get you to nearly 30g carbs a day is technically right (I see they are 29g) but it's under incorrect assumptions. For ketogenic diets NET carbs are the important piece. So if you ate those 3 packets in a day you would be at 23g net carbs in a day. Most veggies have lots of fiber so depending on what you ate you should be under 7g net carbs in veggies. But all of this aside, the program is designed so we don't have to count net carbs. Just take your two unrestricted, one restricted, your approved veggies, and supplements and the program will work. Is your coach new to IP I wonder?
Thanks ladies! No, I don't think she's new and is normally really helpful. She's also really into ketostix (which aren't accurate for me), so this might be another thing I smile and nod about but then see how it works for me personally. I had never purchased restricted items before, but I really hope the wafers will give me the feeling of having a little treat. As for the crisps, I'm excited to have something crunchy and salty for once!!

If she's not new to IP she may also be mistakenly thinking the BBQ crisps are restricted (they used to be, but are now unrestricted). Either way, just keep doing what you're doing
As far as the ketostix go, it's a topic that goes around the horn here often. They are not going to tell you anything useful in terms of ketosis. For one, they only measure EXCESS ketones in your urine. But in ketosis, you don't have excess, your body is using them for fuel. For another, they are meant to be used by diabetics and people with severe kidney issues, to measure whether their bodies are not processing things properly. Measuring anything but trace on a ketostick is a sign of a health issue. You may already be aware of this, but it's a good reminder for some of the newbies whose coaches might also be pushing ketostix on them

My coach didn't even touch on the restricted/unrestricted topic! Is there a list you can point me, too, please? Thanks! I feel that you are more knowledgeable about the IP Protocol than my clinic is! I've only had the one visit but they really seemed way more interested in getting a cruise booked than actually explaining some things! I hope I just happened to go on an off day for them. We'll see if my opinion of the staff changes next week.

Maybe I just expect more from them than I should?
They should be marked on any order form if your coach uses one (unfortunately not all coaches are created equal...some actually care about the program, others are just salespeople). But the rule of thumb is this:
Under 9g net carbs, 120 calories or less = unrestricted
9g-15g net carbs, up to 200 calories = restricted
15-17g net carbs, up to 250 calories = super restricted, limit to 1 per week
You should be having 2 unrestricted items and 1 restricted item every day as part of Phase 1. Some coaches think that avoiding the restricted item will somehow help with losses, but it won't. The program is designed to include them!
I have tried the ice bucket trick, but issue is carry on luggage only so no liquids ....
I've found the pudding/shake mixes make a creamier drink than the drink mixes do. Too late for this time but any future travel, try taking some of those to shake up instead of a RTD. Or...purchase some EAS Carb control RTD when you reach your destination (easy to find just about anywhere). Pure protein makes a RTD that is pretty readily available, as well.
