Good Morning everyone! I started on 10/6. First WI was 9.9 and WI2 was 3.8 so I was sold immediately. I'm finding tho that this week (wk3) I have actually been MORE hungry then I was in W1 or 2! I haven't cheated but I am really starving by the time meal times roll around.

I am also getting super anxious about the holidays!!!

Hang on - most people find that weeks 3/4 are the toughest... that's really when the body needs to start pulling out the fat from storage to burn and let's face it, our bodies want the easy way out, 'Just feed me carbs! and I will burn that instead of fat that's in storage!'
Time to add in your unlimited veggies between meals if you are desperate, make sure you get all your water (it's on plan to use hot herbal tea if you need a sweet fix for some of your water allotment), and all your oil, salt & vitamins. Good work, it does get a bit easier in a short while.

Starting IP again this weekend!

I have done the program before and lost 30 pounds. However I never went throught all the phases fore quitting. I gained the weight back because it was not a lifestyle change for me. I am ready to do it right this time! :D

Gluten free options?

Hi everyone. I just started Sunday. Everything's been going well for me. Had my first WI and am down 7lbs, although only half a pound of that is fat. My coach explained how that's likely the glycogen leaving first, and the fat will come. The explanation didn't bother me at all since I can actually see the difference in my body.

Do any of you know—is there a list of gluten free packet options? I'm getting a little tired of soup for lunch. :p

Have a great weekend, everyone! You're all an inspiration to me.

ideal protein tips??

I just started IP on Wednesday. I have some questions...
Can I drink coffee? Diet Pepsi? Pellegrino?
Also, can I have the IP for dinner and the Chicken, fish, etc for lunch?

Thank you!

Hi Josie, good luck with IP. You can have coffee but not too much. Caffeine can dehydrate you. Do you drink it black? No soft drinks - even the diet ones. IP doesn't allow aspartame. You can have your 8oz of protein whenever you like as long as you get it in!

hopeful199 10-24-2014 10:54 PM

I started Oct 1 on a reboot from last year. I regained 40 pounds.

Down 15 pound so far and I plan to go all the way this time.

stephascope 10-25-2014 10:43 AM

Hi hopefull199, I am doing a reboot of sorts too. I started Oct 2013 and reached my goal in April but gained half of it back so here I am. Hoping to be back close to my goal by Christmas. Good luck and welcome back!

slw4624 10-25-2014 03:38 PM

Well after a few months of thinking I can do this on my own and gaining 15lbs back I decided that I really can't do it and decided to go back OP and changed clinics hopefully this one gives me more support than the last one so far so good with the new one I'll find out next week with by first WI with them!

Sunni J 10-25-2014 03:45 PM

Newbie to IP

I just started IP on Thursday, 10.23. At the WI, with clothes and all I was 158. I plan to wear the exact same outfit each week, so that I can get an accurate weight. At home, I started at 154 and as of this morning I was 152. I noticed that people have been losing weight very quickly on this program. I stay hungry, though. Any suggestions?

I have hypoglycemia and my coach told me that it is okay to eat an extra pack to get my blood sugar up if it gets too low. I've had to do that twice. I'm hoping that this will lessen over time and as my weight is reduced. I'm excited about the program and look forward to seeing the results!

josie14 10-25-2014 04:44 PM

Thank you Stephascope!

Sunni J 10-25-2014 05:23 PM

Wow!

Stephascope: I was very motivated to see your pics! Good job. I hope mine will be just as amazing!

Hunger...

Josie-
I noticed that we started at the same time. Are you experiencing hunger in between meals? Thanks!

shasta10 10-26-2014 07:35 AM

I started in September so not technically part of this group but wanted to post that my coach allowed me 4 packets at the beginning. I really needed them at first and I also used cut up cucumbers and the "free salad" in between at first. I don't actually like plain salads or raw veggies that much. Plus, I never really used just vinaigrette as my dressing. What I found for me, was actually being *hungry* was a good motivator to appreciate the raw veggies and the salad. For me, adding the IP salt helped to flavor it up. Also, I now really enjoy raw peppers that I cut up and will use as my 2nd cup of veggies sometimes. I make a little dip of Walden Farms Thousand island dressing plus Franks hot sauce. I can't stand the Walden Farms dressing by itself but with the hot sauce it's good...

Thanks Sunni J! I gained about half of my weight back over the past 6 months so here I am rebooting a year after I started IP originally. We are the same height and almost the same weight right now. To answer your question about hunger - I find I am very hungry on IP. Ketosis never took away the hunger. I can't help but feel sorry for myself. It's funny how we think we should never feel hungry and reach for the worst foods when we do.

Good luck and stay in touch! This forum was extremely important to my success on IP and I hope you check in often.

Day 5

Stephascope: Can you give me a typical run-down on your daily eating/drinking habits and any work-outs that you do?

I am starting the day off right. I took my supplements, drank a shake, and working on water. I was a little frustrated today when I got on the scale. I was up a little. Is that normal?

I know I probably shouldn't weigh every morning, but it helps me to gauge where I am. I have the ketostix and try to keep a check on that, but I know sometimes it can be a little off, especially if I have just had a lot of water.

All I know is that at 37, this is the time to get the weight off. Obesity runs in my family, and I do not want to end up in a chair or taking insulin shots if I can prevent it with weight loss and proper eating habits. I, also, want to have energy to play with my 3 children.

Hi Sunni, I am rebooting with Phase 3 as per my coach's suggestion. When I was on Phase 1 last year I would normally have a chocolate drink for breakfast with black coffee and water throughout the morning. Lunch was usually sour cream and onion soy puffs or the newer crisps with 2 cups of raw veggies - usually cucumber or celery with red/orange/yellow peppers. I would save some of my veggies for my drive home because I was normally very hungry after work. I would also munch on romaine lettuce before supper. Dinner was the usual 8 oz of protein with cooked vegetables. My restricted snack was saved for just before 8pm. I always saved my snack for then so I wouldn't feel hungry or deprived before bed. Eating is very psychological for me! I didn't exercise on Phase 1. I was going to continue running during this reboot but this first week on Phase 3 is still causing a lot of hunger in the afternoon which is when I normally have time to run. You don't need to exercise on Phase 1. Walking is enough.

Hi There Fellow IP'ers!

I'm in reboot mode.. Took some time off due to life stressors and couldn't focus properly on losing weight until I worked through some other stuff. Well, as of yesterday, I made a commitment to myself to get back on the IP wagon and reach goal. I've gained a bit since going off back at the end of April but, not too much so I am forgiving myself and putting my best efforts forth. So great to be back. Thanks for sharing your stories.. I look forward to sharing more. :sunny:

Pinky2012 10-28-2014 11:56 AM

Hi Everyone!

I missed checking in over the weekend with everyone . . .however, I was out walking my arse off! I did the Avon Walk in Charlotte - 39.3 miles! I am so proud that I completed the whole 39.3 miles . . .granted, my feet are not too happy with me. I have horrific blisters on my heels . . . I didn't prepare very well. So it's all my fault . . .and the fact that I got a pedicure on the Thursday before - yeah, that really didn't help matters at all!

I tried to stay OP over the weekend as much as possible. However, my body craved and needed the extra carbs/calories. I did steer clear of the candy offered and breads/pastas . . .snacked on IP bars and a bananas. I know fruit is a no-no in phase 1 . . .but ye ole body needed it.

I had my WI yesterday and was down another 2.5 lbs! Bringing me to a total of 15.5 lost in 4 weeks. I was hoping for more, but will gladly take what I've got.

I've got another challenging weekend coming up . . this one is a more social event. In that we'll be out of town for a football game! Challenges, challenges, challenges! The nice thing I learned from this past weekend, is that it is completely doable out of town . . .not easy, but doable.

So happy to see everyone's successes!

DeterminedDieter 10-28-2014 12:07 PM

Wow Pinky, good for you! And great job passing up on candies and breads/pasta!! You are up for the challenge next weekend :)

lese1030 10-28-2014 01:42 PM

Pinky congrats on your walk and the WI!!!

October 2014 Starter

On Day 2 today. I have 125lbs to lose.
Feeling hopeful!

Re-Booting

Howdy all!

I was around a few years ago. I fell off the wagon pretty hard and gained it all back.
Giving it another go. Looking forward to my knees not hurting again! :)

Sunni J 10-28-2014 06:00 PM

First WI tomorrow...

I am excited and nervous to see how much I have lost! I hope it is good. I made some major changes!

My blood sugar dropped low a few times and I had to eat extra packs. I hope that didn't throw me off.

HOPEFUL GOALS: WI 1: -4, WI 2: -4
Mini weight goal: Nov 12: 146

KareVT 10-29-2014 06:28 AM

Hi All:

Pinky - kudos for a nice walk and for meeting your 1st goal! 39.3 mile walk is amazing! I bet those feet hurt. You should treat yourself to a pedi and soak those dogs extra long ;)

Karinndell - Day 3 for you now, good luck. You can do it!

Mei - I am in reboot mode too. I re-started Saturday and today marks day 5. We can do it! Let's forgive ourselves for how much we gained and look at the positives - sound good?

Sunni - good luck on your first WI today. Can't wait to hear your stats!!!

As I mentioned earlier.. I have been OP for 4 full days. Should I be alarmed that when I step on my scale (i know i shouldn't but i need to see the progress - that it's working) - I have not lost anything? Day 4 - seems a bit strange.. I'm going to try more water... Just nervous that maybe my body is holding on to weigh more so this time...

You may want to start planning today for tailgating. I stuck with my plan for out of town football games with careful advance planning.

Pamelama 10-29-2014 10:47 AM

Good Morning! I am technically a "restart" for October. Did IP in 2011 and lost 52 lbs, became an IP Coach. My DH was pretty sick of last year/going into this year. Thankfully he's in the clear for now. I did great during diagnosis and tx (weight wise - no stressful eating).

I now think it's possible to have PTSD going thru a loved ones illness. I kind of slowly let myself off healthy eating when he got a clean bill of health (ironic, huh?) Slowly put on about 10lbs, but feels like more inches wise.

Committed to restarting this week. Day 1 down, feels good… I LOVED these boards when I was going thru my journey. So much help and inspiration. Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Have a great day. Pam:-)

stephascope 10-29-2014 09:19 PM

Welcome back Pamelama! I'm rebooting as well. I'm glad to hear your husband is okay now. My husband had some pretty intense chemotherapy after we got married and I gained quite a bit of weight. It's a crazy experience. Good luck to you and see you on the boards :)

hopeful199 10-29-2014 10:49 PM

Reboot going well. At 15 lbs in 4 weeks. Time to exercise.

sweetenuf 10-29-2014 11:06 PM

My favorite WF dressing is Creamy Bacon, to me it seems to be the one with less vinegar. The italian is great to marinaid chicken in then bake it in the oven.

Can you please tell me how you became a IP Coach? I have looked up but no luck on finding the correct information on it. Thank you :)

Bought the marshmellow WF dip last night...ummm what do you do w/it? I put it on the "brownie mix" and it added nothing to it.

use it as spackle?

LOL I tried it once, was definitely NOT a fan.

Agreed, the chemical taste of most WF dips are too overwhelming.

So, just divide that in half. You could have 2 whole + 1 white or
1 whole + 2 whites

Yay!! I finally found this important piece of information!! Thanks Lisa!! I am eating real eggs today instead of the IP omelet packet. Thanks a ton!!
I guess i will stick to my usual meals
B-vanilla shake powder IP
S-chocolate drink in carton IP
L-eggs!!! and real ones this week!!*
D-8oz of real protein!!
Hope I get good results on my next WI!!
Week 3 IP, here I come!!! :)

Anyone using the WF marshmallow dip? What are you doing with it? It honestly tasted nothing like marshmallow to me but I have it so I need to do something with it! LOL

New to group

Hi all, just want to introduce myself. I went on IP last Feb and lost 23 lbs. My coach had to stop and I didn't find another one that clicked. I thought I could do this on my own and have maintained using alternative products but have not lost any more. I am starting to creep up and know I have to do something. I am concerned about the cost but I figure that limiting eating out can make up for part of the cost. What are your thought about being able to maintain weight on IP?

Thanks!
