Default Week off IP, last ten pounds - Bootcamp or no?

I had a week off of Ideal Protein, and ate pretty much whatever. I'm at 125, gained back two pounds - and I was just wondering should I do bootcamp for a week or no? I've been finding it hard to control myself lately but I really want to lose the last ten pounds. My old goal was 110, but I changed it to 115 and I've put off the last ten pounds ever since.

I had about 11 days off IP for vacation and am back on to also lose the last 10. I say get back on P1, but you don't necessarily have to do bootcamp. The 1st (3) days I was back OP, I lost 5#, but that was also what I was up at the end of my vacation. However, it was just water weight / glycogen stores because I felt no diffence in my clothes and on IP, 5# makes a huge difference in clothing.

I guess that was a really long answer to say that you should get back on P1 and finish this up.

My goal is to get to my 90% (134) by Nov. 9 so that I can start phasing off for good and be in P3 by Thanksgiving (USA) and in maintenance through December and Christmas.

Thanks, I really want to. But do you find it harder after you went off and did whatever? I find it extremely hard to get back on program.

Jenny, you'll likely gain from bootcamp but at least it'll be muscle. Something to consider.

Default Is Bootcamp a Good Idea

My coach told me that we needed the restricted items to maintain proper brain function. Has anyone else heard this?

I hope not because my coach didn't let me have any restricted for the first month. I just started being able to have restricted during my second month and only two a week.

What is "bootcamp" again?

Yes I did read that on a post. It said the brain needs some carbs or you get foggy. It also said they used to limit restricteds more but later found that having one restricted a day did not result in less weight loss and people who had a restricted a day were less likely to cheat . I think it was a coach who said it but I can't remember how long ago it was that it was posted. It was info from some recent training sessions for coaches.

I haven't had any restricteds this week because I switched to alternatives and bought too many shakes and not enough bars. I have not lost any more weight this week than I have on the weeks I had a restricted everyday.

Yes, so I've heard but I just thought it would balance out how many carbs I've been eating ( alot ) ! Good luck to everyone . I hope I can get back on track.

I am not sure what is meant by bootcamp either. Does it mean to follow the plan without using restricted items?

It felt good to get back on program initially because being on vacation there was so much less control.

However, now that I am back on for 2 weeks, I am finding it much harder to stay OP. Maybe because I know what life will be like after P1, but every now and again I catch myself saying that maybe I should just say I am at goal so I can phase off and go back to a healthier, more normal way of eating (ie: P4).

I will say the one major positive that came out of vacation was that I am now fully convinced that this diet does work- not just P1- but all phases and that it is possible to maintain our losses. To be out of the country for 10 days and eating and drinking pretty much whatever I wanted and to not gain real weight, was incredible. And to have 3 days back on P1 and drop the pounds to get back to even? Just confirms that I will have no problem in maintenance b/c it is not like I am going to eat everyday like I did on vacation.

I hope you are sticking to the program. Let's get to goal and finish this part up once and for all!

Sample: Breakfast is a shake, Lunch is a salad and sour cram and onion soy puffs, supper is a salad and sour cram and onion soy puffs and snack is chocolate zuchinni muffins with walden farms marshmallow dip. I am drinking water and also on day 4 of my cleanse. So frustrated that my weight is up 3 pounds after 3 days when I was told I would lose for sure. What am I doing wring? Any tips?

Nettie, when you get closer to goal, it can go really slowly. It took 6 extra weeks longer than I thought it would. My tip would be to follow Phase 1 exactly including 1 restricted and to vary your protein sources. I found that if I had beef a couple of times/ week, I lost more than if I had all chicken. Good luck

We get carbs from our veggies. What we REALLY need is to make sure we're getting fat for proper brain function.

My input on the IP bootcamp (no restricteds & no meat for dinner. Just 5 unrestricted packets with your veggies, salad, salt, oil, water) is that this is an attempt to hack a program that doesn't need hacking.

If you went off plan, it isn't the fault of IP & gains aren't IP's fault. You can't speed up ketosis. Just get back on P1 and move forward. WE all want success NOW. But guess what? We make our choices. If we chose to go off plan (for whatever reason) we can choose to go back on.

The other problem with bootcamp IMO is that it can set us up for a binge. IP is alread VLC (both carb/calorie). Just do P1 and move forward.

Thank you slipfree I will try switching up the protein. Lisa I never did say it was IP's fault that I have gained on the 3 days of bootcamp...not really sure how to take your response? I was just looking for some positive responses on what others have experienced but maybe I am just sensitive and reading your response in an incorrect tone. I have lost 70 pounds on ip since March so I know it works and I was told the bootcamp would get me down the last 10 pounds quicker. I am going to go back on phase 1 today and not do bootcamp as I KNOW ip works and yes I can do it
