  • Quote: I can sympathize totally! My coach is wondering why I'm not losing 4-5 lbs a week! I lose 1-2 a week. They show me other people's charts, how they are losing so quickly, and I stick to plan 100%! It almost makes it hard to keep going, as they see my slow loss as a failure instead of small progresses!! I just stay positive and keep going!!
Personally I think that is awful. Everyone is truly different when it comes to weight loss. I would not have stayed with my coach if that had happened to me. There was no way with my muscular build that I would have ever lost 4-5 pounds a week. I wanted consistency and that is what I got.

That is an ABSOLUTELY horrible way to coach anyone!!! Have you spoken to the head/owner of the clinic to complain and request another coach? Is there any other clinic you can go to? I would complain to corporate too and tell them this attitude is driving you away from IP.

Also, IP lowered its claim of average losses to 2-3 lbs per week average... We also know that to have that average, some have to be losing less even though following 100%!!
  • Becca - why on earth is your coach comparing you to other clients and showing you their files? One, that's not fair to you - everyone loses at their own pace; two, they are breaking confidentiality of others. Sounds like they don't have their act together.

Becca, your start weight is about the same as mine. My weeks are all over the place with WIs. My first WI was a bigger drop (-5.8 lbs) but I know a lot of that was water weight, the other week I lost 5 lbs I had just gotten off TOM (and my TOMs are BAAAAAD).

Losing is losing and your coach shouldn't be comparing you to other patients. I've had two weeks were I only lost about 1 lb for that week and was following the plan completely 100%. I'm happy to see any loss in a week, although I do admit that I wish each WI I was 5lbs down but that is just unrealistic!!!!

My coach has been SO supportive about this process. She asks me how the week has been and if I've cheated ETC ETC (being OP in New Orleans has to be tough for the more social people). She knows I've been 100% OP so when I have that 1lb loss that week she doesn't beat me up about it.
  • OMG you guys are the best!! I loved hearing your input on this!! I went this morning for a weigh-in and lost 3.5 lbs. I was ecstatic!! But again his reaction was not so great! It's insane, really. I think they are the only ones around here that sell the product, and it's convenient for me on my drive into work. Obviously he needs to work on his coaching techniques, but I do believe his intentions are 100% to be supportive, he wants to see success so I am not going to leave. One lesson I've learned in life is take the best from a situation and leave the rest behind. At the end of the day I have lost now 12 lbs!! And feel so good knowing I have a way to keep going to reach my goal. Interesting that they changed their claims to 2-3 lbs per week. That sounds a little more realistic. Thanks again you guys are the best, it's your support that makes this journey a lot easier!!
