Funny you said that about the drivers licence. I had to whip mine out at the bank the other day and the woman looked at it and then looked at me and says wow you look fantastic! what have you done. I went into the story with her and she is looking into IP now LOL. Needless to say I need a new DL photo also LOL...

Re-evaluate my life and see what I have the courage to change.

-Take more pictures (I HATE having my picture taken)
-Go on my long over due honeymoon (married 2 years now) and wear a bathing suit and not be embarrassed.
-Boudoir photo shoot for my husband.
-Not be the biggest one in my family.
-High school reunion in 2015 and be not embarrassed.
-Start a family.

Great list! I started IP June 19 and could not imagine reaching any of these goals when I started. BUT...

Right now, I can:

*Toss those fat clothes
*Cross my legs
*Tuck my shirt in

I am working on this one:
*Accept and love myself

I WILL phase off properly and commit to this one FOR LIFE:
*Maintain my weight

My post starting this thread back in July.... I thought today that I ought to revisit my reasons as part of my start to the new year... I need to update thiese thoughts for a more current Beck Solution list....

Posted July 20, 2014:
I just started IP 11 days ago so I have many months to reach my goal. As I travel the journey, I want to keep in mind those daily real life reasons that I should stay on program and reach my goal. After I lose weight I will:
- be able to breathe as I tie my sneakers or fasten my dance shoes
- have a waist that will make it more comfortable to wear a skirt -- suits will return to my wardrobe!
- actually consider something sleeveless as a possible item of apparel that I would wear in public
- be able to carry 10lbs of cat litter upstairs without wondering if I will get to the top
- not have as much knee pain
- I will be willing to don a costume for amateur dance competition... losing the fear of looking like a pink sausage on the dance floor
- probably not wake up so often with my hands asleep
- be able to see my toes without bending over to see past my belly
- walk into a room full of people and not bet that I am the largest person in the room
.....

How about you? What daily life activities will you find less intimidating after you lose weight?

Today I washed clothes and experienced the convenience of putting everything in the dryer! Some pieces I hoped to shrink, but the joy today was not being fearful that some pieces might shrink to where I could not fit into them. This a small pleasure I enjoy already on my weight loss journey. And it reminded me that it would be good to bump this post and re- launch the conversation.

I can tie my shoes and breathe at the same time now - I can even fasten my dance shoes with their tricky little hook fasteners.

I have lost 7 inches in my waist... I think it is time to try on some skirts and see if I can wear them comfortably.

I have been carrying 2 10lb bags of litter up the stairs lately... Whethrer I carry anything or not, the steps are much less formidable than they were last summer.

My knees are much more comfortable, too.

I won't be enjoying sleeveless clothes until I do something with my 'Hi Jane's'. - you know - the upper arms that keep waving long after you have said 'Hi Jane!' - they are going to need strength training and maybe thermage or some excess skin treatment/removal.

But - I am glad to be experiencing some good changes. However, I believe it is important to recall the misery I was feeling at 240lbs, and to hold those feelings in a place where I can recall them, and use them to make help me make good choices after I make it to my overall goal weight.

I asked back in July, so I will ask again - how about you? Care to revisit your posts from this thread or post new entries that share your reasons for losing weight?

Thank you for the insightful post oneuh2!

I'm going to have to think about this. I've just been focused on preparing to maintain.

Thinking out loud--one goal would be to learn how to dress without feeling the need to hide my body. I was at the Salvation army buying some replacement clothes this morning, and had to remind myself that I was no longer buying for camoflage. :)

I get what you are saying - I have a hard time believing that my existing clothing could really be too large to wear, too!

If you are thinking about maintenance you should read The Beck Solution - it has some activity assignments to help you reshape your thinking, and the first one is to make a list of reasons why you want to lose weight. Then you use that list daily. This could be excellent timing for you to embrace that guidance!

I fly for fun an have two planes. I have already opened up a huge range of options with the over 50Lbs I have lost so far. Our aircraft are two seat planes and are very weight sensitive. Long story short, lets say the plane is designed to carry 500Lbs, once you add yourself and fuel the remaining weight it passengers and baggage. With me at 265 and 110Lbs fuel my passenger had to be light, I had to tell allot of friends no I could not take them flying. I already have many more options at 205 and at 160 allot more.

But what I really have been wanting to do is powered paragliding which is the parachute with the motor backpack thing, they don't design them for 2XL guys, but I will be an ideal weight about the time the weather gets nice. And it is allot easier to run and launch with a 60Lb motor on your back when your not 100Lbs overweight.

Spectacular goal! You can do it!

Since I lost weight i can tie my shoes, & see my feet!

I fit in an airplane seat and my dining room chairs...

I am working on being less self concious of how much "space" I actually take up. That's a hard one for me mentally.

Funny, I was just thinking about this today when I noticed that kneeling in church was so much easier than it used to be. I amgoing to pull out my "when I've lost weight" list tonight and make some big check marks!

Being able to deal with the bikini line with both hands, instead of one being taken up holding the belly pooch out of the way. :)

And:

Looking forward to not being the only fat person shopping in an organic or health food store. :)

Loving being able to dry all the way around without having to contort myself.

Love that the big towels wrap around me twice now.

Love that I have two free hands to stretch out the bikini line and not worry about those little nicks from saggy skin.

Love looking around at all the women doing their shopping and trying to work out whether I am bigger or smaller than them, rather than KNOWING that I was bigger.

Love being able to go up and down stairs a dozen times a day without feeling exhausted.

Love that I don't wake up with a painful band across the lower back anymore.

Love that I can do ballet squats holding weights without feeling like my knees are going to collapse under me.

So much to be grateful for with less weight. Life is suddenly feeling very free, very open and new opportunities beckon in the physical realm. :)

Day 4 on IP for me and 125lbs to lose, 86 to my first goal.

After I lose weight I will:

1. Not reach for the back of the rack automatically when shopping to see what the biggest size they have is
2. Buy and wear a bikini
3. Not worry about how uncomfortable a long haul flight is going to be
4. Enjoy the looks on the faces of those people I haven't seen since the beginning of my journey

After I lose weight I will:

1. Go into any store and KNOW that they carry my size instead of casually trying to figure it out (there was no way I was going to ask if a store carried 14/16)
2. Experience new things. I want to do some contiki trips but my weight has held me back
3. Be able to see my muscle definition from all my work at the gym - instead of it being covered by all my fat!
4. Own knee high boots that AREN'T wide calf!
