I wanted to start on the IP diet...need to lose a bunch then I will head over to the Mediterranean diet but I have a problem....

I have a series of vitamins that I take when I can afford to...I follow Betty Dowdell ..and 2, my body produces stones like crazy.

To go on IP, I have to stop taking all my nutes and take theirs plus take a calcium supplement. IP will not let me skip this supplement w/o a letter from my doctor..who actually doesn't support the IP diet.

I really don't want or need the coaching nor weekly weigh ins but from what I have been able to find out..IP seems to be what I need.

I live in Canada...is there any way I can run a parallel with IP using 3rd party products ?

Tons of info on the alternative thread if you want to buy mixed products including costco and walmart stuff or ordering from the low carb grocery. There is also protidiet or someone has just mentioned pro energy. PD is cheaper. Both allow some fruit and cheese too. Don't know what province you are in, but there are definitely options.

However, there is some merit to seeing a coach at first especially since it sounds like you have some health issues.

Also, not all clinics make buying the IP supplements mandatory. My clinic doesn't care. And you can buy a month of food at a time if you want.

Chipndip, I live in Nova Scotia. I assumed that our local IP place connected with their food science person, that all IP providers had to tow the line. Yes, unfortunately, I do have health problems so I appreciate yur comment. In my mind i figured that I would do one or 2 months on IP then branch out on my own when I felt comfortable.

I will look for another franchise.

Just as a comment, I find the paring of this franchise with the existing company to be really weird.... they main business has nothing t do with health.

I live in BC and my clinic had no problem with me not using their supplements (I do have to be gluten free and they could not guarantee that their supplements were GF). You might want to check out other clinics if you have a choice in your area...
