October Newbies- Jubilant in June
Hi, this amazing group of people began their IP journeys in October 2013. Let's focus this month on our successes. We have all come so far! It is time for some jubilant celebration. :dancer:
|
Thanks Slipfree--We should be Jubilant . Slipfree so what did u eat on P3? Was it weird to eat more and new food? Did u feel sick or guilty doing it?
Great weather here in DC area. Off to do more house hunting. Hubby comes home late tonight. Had a bad allergy attack last night not fun. Still plugging away on P1. I am trying I just want some more weight to come off this week so I can be on track. It is getting harder. This week I have been eating my 8 oz of protein for lunch. So far it is ok for me - not sure if I will see a difference weight wise. JIG-Best of luck to you. Check in with us when you have a chance. We are hear for u. |
Morning Luccilove, I have missed you :) Not sure if everyone wants to see what I am eating on Phase 3 here, but it is posted under Life After Phase 1- renew. I started the thread to get information but also as a resource for when all the Newbies get to Phase 3.
I did not feel guilty at all. This is the next step in this journey. It was great to have variety since I have eaten only Phase 1 foods for 7 months. The process was helped by my shopping yesterday. I bought small tops, even an extra small and a size 8 Lilly Pulitzer skirt. I am satisfied with where I am now size wise. I am actually looking forward to a little more puffiness in my face from reintroducing carbs. Have had a lot of people tell me that I look too thin this week. So how about celebrating our success for all the world to see: Height: 5'7 Weight: 161 Sizes in Oct. I hope you have a great WI. It is harder to see larger weekly losses once you get below 190-200, but if you keep going OP, you'll see the results. It's just more slowly. When I've gone off plan in the past I think it took about 2-4 weeks of being 100% OP for the cravings and hunger to go away. I've found that certain things make hunger worse like having too much Splenda in one day. Stevia doesn't seem to have that affect, but Splenda and the sugar free syrup they use at Starbucks seem to make me hungrier. I'm sorry you're struggling, but I hope you start feeling better soon. We've all been there and I still have challenging hungry or stressful days, especially PMS or TOM. I hope you find a place to live soon. I read something yesterday about how hard it is to find a good rental in DC. I'm thinking about moving out of this complex and into another place. I don't know when and really don't want to deal with moving, but the complex has become too loud. I might get a fake ID so I can move into a 50+ community. ;) |
Wow! You guys are all amazing!! So inspirational to see your stats. Slip free, I'm stalking you here as I'm moving into Phase 2 in four weeks. Still a while away but I'm one of those people who likes to be prepared. I should have been a Boy Scout!! Hiker, congrats on making your goal before you leave. That is fantastic.
|
Rosie, I like Phase 3 better than Phase 2. But IMO, 16 ounces of protein at lunch and dinner is too much. Feel free to stalk :) and join our thread.

Just a quick update: I ran into a store to grab a few things before my trip... now wearing a size 13 pants!! I know I'm saying a lot of Whee Hoo's this weekend but I'm happy!! LOL!

Such a wonderful celebration of our successes so far!
Hiker- your posts all weekend have made me smile. I am so happy that you are happy! Pishposh, this program works, you will be in Onederland in no time! Schenectady, celebration is good for the soul :) I think we focus on what is still unfinished and we forget to feel gratitude for our blessings. I am physically exhausted! Worked in the yard/garden for 6 hours. My body is going to be so sore, it hurts already :( |

Lucci: Sounds like you are having a struggle right now, we have ALL been there. I read a quote the other day, something to the effect of, "The road is hardest right before we succeed". Totally made me think of our weight loss. Keep plugging along, the road will get easy again.
Slip: Glad you are embracing this new stage with a positive attitude! I have been following your P3 thread from the beginning, can't wait to post in there! Hiker: So happy you made it to 80lbs gone forever before your trip!! Congrats! Kooky: Your comment about getting a fake ID to be older cracked me up! Sorry your complex is getting louder. Scheneclady: Welcome! Feel free to join in. Back from a weekend of camping, stayed OP with my food!! Very happy with that. Did some thinking about my body and what I think about how I look, starting to like the "new" me! Feeling more confident about my weight loss and how I am looking. Did some shopping as well this weekend, picked up some shirts that are a size M and some shorts a size 10! I think they are both on the bigger end of there sizes(so not a true M or 10) but I am AMAZED to be even close to those sizes. Can't wait to wear them this week! I LOVE the size comparisons everyone has done, of course I had to do mine too! LOL Amazing to see how much smaller we all are. Sizes in Oct/ Sizes in June Height: 5' 2.5" Jeans: 24/12 Dress: not sure/14 Tops: 2X-3X/L or M Bra: 44C/36C |
Hi Want2b,
Congrats on staying OP and the smaller clothes!!! I love that you are feeling more confident about your body. We have had a lot of changes in our physical bodies. None of us are in our 20s, so we better learn to love what we've got. I have to work at not being so critical of myself. The things that are bugging me right now, are the skin under my arms and my eyelids! Neither area is going to change, so I know that I need to focus on the positives instead. |
Yay Want2B for OP camping and smaller pants! You're doing a great job! I'm glad you're feeling happy about your choices and confident about your new body.
It's so great to read about everyone's successes and excitement ,and I look forward to hearing more! Have a great week everyone! |
All of you have done so well.. how inspiring!! I noticed that most of you lost a shoe size also, I didn't even consider that your shoe size would change with weigh loss. Thanks for sharing!!
|
Hi everyone,
11.5 school days left! 2 more Mondays after today. Seems to be taking forever. I sound just like one of the kids. :dizzy: Field trip on Friday to the Renaissance Faire. The weather here is beautiful today. Went to buy more plants. Lots of planting to do this weekend. Hoping to make that trip to the NYC Botanical Garden on Sat. Going to a Maintenance class at my clinic on Thurs. looking forward to figuring out the next step. Hope all of you are having a wonderful OP day. |
Slip: You are one busy lady!! I am counting down the days of work also, 14 for me.
Went to my friends house after work today, she is the one that got me started on IP. She hasn't seen me for 6 weeks, she said she really noticed a difference. Yah!! She was kind of surprised that I want to lose 14 more lbs. I am a total pear shape and still need to get rid of the tummy and butt, not sure that it will be gone in 14lbs! I am not sure the tummy and butt have much fat, I am thinking it may be loose skin, and no diet is going to help that. I am going to phase off at 145lbs anyway and maintain that for a while to see how I feel about myself. Who knows, maybe I will be totally happy there and that is where I will stay, if not I can always go back to doing what I am doing now and lose a few more. Oh the joys of a changing body! LOL. At least I am having to think of these things instead of worrying about health issues with my body. Hope everyone is having an OP day. |
Want2b- all week I have been getting, "the you have lost enough, when are you going to stop." Even our football coach said it to me today. I told him that I was done and am phasing off. Sometimes, I think, lost enough-compared to whom?
It is enough, because I am happy with my health and I think my upper body is getting too thin. But man, those thighs have not budged! And... Guess what? They ain't going anywhere :p |
Good morning,
Have to say that I am enjoying Phase 3. Lots of energy to start the day. Schenectady, any excuse to buy shoes is okay with me :) Have a great day everyone! |
Good Morning Everyone!
Slipfree- You're garden sounds like it is going to be beautiful! You've put so much work into it. You're probably carving out some nice muscles too. :). Even though I have another week of P1, then a month of phasing off, I'm going to the P4 workshop at my clinic on Weds at the recommendation of my trainer. I think it will be good for me to see how the meals and typical days should look. I'm kind of nervous about reintroducing certain foods like dairy and wheat because I used to have acne before IP and wheat/dairy seemed to cause digestive issues for me. I'll need to do some research to minimize those items. I'm nervous about getting bloated and gassy and my skin breaking out again. I'll talk to my dr. about it if I can't figure it out. Want2B- I feel the same way about my stomach, butt, and thighs, but I think a lot of it is extra skin, especially the stomach. My coach says it takes up to a year for the skin to rebound and regenerate. She and my doctor also encouraged me to start and exercise program for health purposes, but woth the added benefit of tightening up the areas I whine about being saggy. schenectady & pishposh- Thanks for sharing your success!! You're both doing great! Welcome to our board! Hope everyone has a great day! |
Going back to the gym for the first time in months. I do not work out really hard - just use the treadmill and recumbent bike for some cardio. We moved and I have finally found a place that is quiet and at comfortably at my level.
I may decide now to start some weight training. At my age, it is said to really make a difference in maintaining mobility in years to come. Besides, I have lots of extra skin that needs some muscles worked on underneath. I tried on some summer dresses with short sleeves and it threw me into a bit of a blue funk. To reason that out, I remind myself that this was never an issue before ONLY because those arms were covered with fat! Fat plump arms do beat bat wings, but given the choice, I am going to work out and just look harder for dresses with slightly longer sleeves. |
Love to see all of your size changes. You girls have done awesome. Inspires me so much. Wish I wouldn't have given up because I started with you all I could have been where you all are.
|
Slip: "Lost enough, compared to whom?" Made me smile. I have been really taking peoples comments about me getting to thin to heart lately. I personally don't think I am too thin, I still have lots to lose in the middle. So I will keep plugging along until I reach 145lbs then decide for sure. I hate second guessing myself. Glad you are enjoying P3, I was wondering if you were liking it any better then P2. I am looking forward to the breakfasts of P3!
Kooky: Take notes on the P4 session and pass them on. Maybe you can ask about your acne and digestive issues there, might get some answers and put your mind at ease about them. Schenectady: Good for you for getting yourself to the gym, glad you found one that fits you. Keep looking for a summer dress, there is one that suits us all!! Jemma51: Glad you are back, keep going, don't stop. Feeling tired today, and could just keep eating, haven't, but could. Not a good combo. Early to bed for me, hopefully tomorrow will be better. |

I definately notice digestive issues if I have too many carbs, definately gas! hee hee So, I am learning how much I can handle. Its mostly the bad carbs I've come to realize so thats a positive as it'll help me stay away from them! And I'm getting pimples at that time of the month which must be hormones which isn't fair when I'm this age.(in my 40's). But, while I was following P1, my skin definately got better. I think being off of sugar really helped and drinking lots of water. And I don't love my arms either. I've been going to the gym and its helping but certainly not perfect. I have to say though that the gym is definately helping me tone all over. I felt so jigilly when I started maintenance. Its much better now, always a work in progress!

Hi all,
People say stupid stuff about weight loss. Either you looked so bad before that they do not even recognize you now! Or "you are just disappearing!" Or "Now you are as beautiful on the outside as you have always been on the inside." Personal fav.: "You look so much better. You just looked like someone stuck a pin in you and blew you up! You had a 1/4 inch of fat on your forehead." Then you hit the stage of too thin comments: "You just do not look healthy." You look extremely thin, it is time for you to stop" "You have lost too much, too quickly." "When are you going to stop losing weight?" I could go on and on.... Most of the time, I accept that the person's intention is good. But a bunch of too thin comments this week makes me think that I do not look good. Who wants to even entertain that thought after all this hard work! I am amazed by the lack of verbal boundaries. The people making these comments are not family or even close friends! It is a good thing that I have never lacked self confidence or self determination. I do things my way :), so the comments are just annoying :dizzy: |
Schenectady,
You may be right. As much as this weight loss is very public visually, I wish people would realize and respect that it is a very personal, private and vulnerable journey too. |
Still here.. spent the night catching up from the last time I posted/read the May thread. I LOVE that even though I haven't been following along with everyone online here, the support is still there for me when I come back. In reading through things, I saw this, and it was exactly what I needed. Slipfree, I commend you for keeping this close knit group together.. thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Here's my stats: Height: 5' 6.5" Start Weight: 395.4 Current Weight: 259.4 Sizes in Oct. Sizes in June Jeans: 34 Jeans: 18/20 Dress: 32 Dress: 18 Capris:Couldn't get them Capris: 20 Tops: 4x Tops: large (12/14) Bra: 50DDD Bra: 36HH Shoe: 13 Shoe: 11 |
Hi Kawaii, glad to see you here! Oct. Newbies is a huge part of my IP journey. Would not have made it without all of you.
Kooky, the garden is getting there. The Siberian Iris are all blooming right now. It takes a lot of work, but I feel better for it. Working outside grounds my spirit and relieves my stress. But, I hate getting so dirty! Glad that you are going to the maintenance seminar, we can compare notes. |
Hawaii: I think you are right, maybe we should always think of our bodies a work in progress. Losing weight, maintaining, toning, all a work in progress.
Slip: I think you need to hang around with new people! I have had a few rude comments but yours are over the top. Try to take satisfaction in knowing how great you look now, they are just jealous. Schenectady: I think you are right about some people not knowing what/how to say anything about our weight loss. I had someone tell me that she wanted to say something when she first saw me but wasn't sure she should, then saw me the next day and said "if I lost all that weight I would want someone to comment on it" so she did comment. Kawaii: Your stats are amazing. And of course we will all be here for support for you, when and if you need us. I have been missing you. |
Want2b, mainly these comments have come from people at work. As I said, their intentions are good, but the delivery could use some work. The forehead comment was from my Aunt on Christmas Eve. She has always been thoughtless about overweight people and then she added wine! Lol. I am happy with my body and size. Life is pretty good :)

schenectady- I'm glad you found a gym you like. Hopefully as your skin gets a chance to adjust to your weight loss, it will rebound better, but exercise will definitely help. Good job at getting yourself to the gym though! I haven't done that and need to. I completely agree with you about the root of weird or rude comments from others. I do think some comments are just from social awkwardness and some are from the person's own insecurities about their weight and health. Some of the comments are very positive, but others I've gotten have upset me- like when my coworker asked me if I was ashamed selling my larger (pre-weight loss) clothing on eBay. That made me really angry because he was implying that I should have been ashamed of myself at that weight.
Want2B- I will take notes and share good ideas from the workshop. Kellyc14- I think hormones definitely have played a part in my acne. The acne actually started in my late 20's when I was eating a lot of junk food and putting on the weight but I used to always break out before my TOM. It's pretty amazing with IP in the last few months that my breakouts have almost gone away. I'm going to watch how my skin reacts to different types of foods. Hopefully when I phase off and my weight stabilizes, the hormones won't be going as crazy. Hawaii- I agree that sugar could be one of the major components of why I used to break out so much. I'm not going to go back to eating sweets regularly (same with processes/refined carbs), so I hope my skin stays clear. I think the water helps too because it's replaced the sugary Starbucks drinks and diet sodas I used to drink a lot. I'm glad you're seeing results at the gym. That's great that you're continuing to see positive changes in your body in maintenance. Slipfree- I'm sorry that youve had to deal with such negative people lately. I agree with Schenectady that the comments come from social awkwardness or insecurity, but people Aldo have the option of SAYING NOTHING! What an idea, huh?! You look beautiful and healthy. I hope these people leave you alone. Once they get used to you at your new weight, hopefully the comments will stop. My IP coach said on P3 & 4, you'll get a little more volume back to your face, so maybe that will keep the wolves at bay. I agree that it is a very personal journey and most people don't get it. We're here for you and understand how personal and difficult the journey is, so feel free to vent to us. Jemma- Glad you're back! I hope IP works out for you this time around. Kawaii- Great to see you back! Comgratulations on your phenomenal results! How are you and your daughter doing? I miss hearing from you. I have my WI this morning. One more week on P1. I am looking forward to going to the maintenance workshop tonight because P4 sounds really abstract at this point. Have a great day everyone! |
