Default Beck Diet Solution Daily tip

This is the one posted from another day. However, so many people talked about lack of sleep, I thought it was timely!

- Wednesday Sabotage

Sabotaging Thought: I'm exhausted but I'm at work so I can't sleep. I'll eat to give me energy.
Response: Even though I feel exhausted, it doesn’t mean I can’t push through and still get my work done. If I eat every time I feel tired, it’s likely I won’t be able to lose weight. Which would I rather be: Overweight AND tired, or just tired?

This is a great quote. Tiredness and overwork were always two excellent reasons for me to treat myself in the past. Now I have a hot cup of herbal tea to power on through. Thanks Lisa for the reminder. I definitely want to be just tired, rather than overweight and tired!

Official first WI this morning down 11 pounds! I feel like signing 'I'm on the right track baby I was born this way' lol.
Definitely going to have to increase my salt because I am still very blah when it comes to getting everything in, and the light headedness is still lingering.
other then that im super happy! Have a magnificent day everyone

Me too! I'm no longer morbidly obese and tired (and in pain!) <whew>

Good morning all. Praying this morning for all who are dealing with difficult situations these days.
Flying to San Antonio today with my mom for my aunt and uncle's 50th anniversary celebration. I have done as much practical planning and packing IP-wise as possible. There are going to be several times over this long weekend when I will need to wing it and it has me totally stressed out. I am seeing my control issues rise to the surface! I am nervous because of my past history of giving in when things seem too complicated. I won't do that this time, I just know it. But it's still unnerving.

Take a deep breath - you can do this! Just remember not to take the RTDs in your carry on luggage.

Have a good time with your family!

Default New IP Alternate

Starting day 3 using IP-alternate foods. Seem to be a rare beast here as a male, though I've seen a few popping up. Had already used a homemade apples/nonfat yogurt/calorie restriction/tracking with Calorie Counter by Fat Secret to lose 40 pounds, but now trying the IP alternate way to lose another 15+ pounds.

The "ketosis flu" is annoying. I broke down last night and took some tylenol for the headache. It's back again today, so I did more reading here. I see the common response here is to try more salt. That's hard for me, as I'm a heart doc and I preach day 'n night about the evils of salt and heart disease, particularly heart failure. But, if these headaches continue, I'll need to try the salt lick.

In looking around, it looks as though dehydration is also associated with headaches, so I'll push more water. Another reference suggests (as people here probably are already aware) that the headaches are a direct product of the ketosis itself.

I was also pretty good at using Splenda in my mostly decaf coffee, so I'm curious about any withdrawal symptoms there. But, given there seems to be a consensus about keto flu, I'm guessing that's what it is instead of being related to Splenda. I don't think it's the simple caffeine withdrawal, but that could be it, too.

Too many things can cause the annoying headache, so I'll just have to tough out the next few days (hopefully not a week!).

I understand your concern as so many of us have been warned time and time again to cut back on out salt intake... BUT step back and consider eating the IP way vs the way one would eat on a "normal" diet. You are getting far, far less salt in what you are eating by virtue of the fact that packets are controlled for less salt (except soups which tend to be higher), and you are not eating many of the foods that are already higher in salt.

This is why it is do important to ADD the salt during the day. As a doc, you know it is needed by the body. In "real world" eating we shouldn't need to add it because we already get more than enough. On IP, it is needed!

Yesterday had WI and the scale didn't move, but I was down a 1.5 pounds in fat. How can that be? I will continue the journey and try not to be so dependent on the scale.

Unfortunately I will still get light headed sometimes. And I am very strict with myself to make sure I get everything in. Congrats on your loss, keep going!

OMGoodness mine was so bad I couldn't be human during it. For me I def think caffeine and sugar was a huge part of mine. Mine lasted a week and then I made sure I use my RTD chocolate shake in a cup of coffee every morning and it keeps my headaches at bay. Just my personal journey. Hope you get thru it soon. They def are no fun.

Congratulations everyone on the weigh ins! Way to go KillerCandy - that should keep you motivated Awesome news readytolive! Mcintyst - have you been working out at all? Depending on the device you were using to measure the fat loss - the measurement can vary depending on how much water you've had or coffee or anything really. It's a tough thing to measure accurately unless you go to a place that has all the right equipment. Don't be discouraged though - you want to be losing fat so it just shows that your body composition is changing and in the positive direction

Sweetenuf - you look ahhhhmazing!
