Of course, chat it over with them and see what they say. Every case could be different - depending on how much anesthetic you're getting, etc. I do know that both times DH had surgery while on IP his doctors/care team were emphatic that he not be in ketosis at the time of surgery. As in they tested his ketones morning of because they knew he'd been on this type of plan. So that's where my caveat comes from. Just wanting to make sure that this is something that gets discussed in advance and doesn't crop up the morning of surgery, then prevent someone from having their operation. My surgeon and anesthesiologist had no problems with me being in ketosis for either surgery and I healed just fine (except for the stitch the surgeon managed to get right on a nerve!).
