Beck Diet Solution Think Thin Thursday

"When our dieters have trouble figuring out whether or not what they’re feeling is hunger or something else (a craving, wanting to eat for emotional reasons, etc.) we ask them to take the “tofu test”: if they would eat plain tofu in that moment , then they’re probably hungry. If they’re craving something else, then it’s likely not true hunger underlining the desire to eat."

I use plain romaine lettuce leaves as my test.

sunflwr: In case you missed it from yesterday, those weren't the drops I had previously posted about. These are:

IdealProteinNewbie 03-06-2014 07:24 AM

Netrition.com is awesome!

Tons of products...MiO, WF, Torani, Da Vinci, etc with flat $4.95 shipping.

I stock up when I order heavy glass bottles, saves lots of money on shipping.

Is the Beck Diet Solution a book that helps with the emotional side of weight issues? I'm at the point where I'm ready to start getting real about my relationship with food.
I appreciate your thoughts!

Sitting at 169 for weigh in his morning which means no loss again, but it is better than the 171.6 I weighed on Monday. Really hope the scale doesn't jump again and only continues to go down from here on out. :) on the plus side, though I'm not losing much, I am still feeling great and can't picture myself eating any other way, so this is making me confident for maintenance, whenever that will be. :)

You have such a great attitude! It will happen - our bodies (I am convinced) hang on and frustrate us just to give us motivation to never have to go through the losing process again! At least that's my theory! :D

ColoradoCarol 03-06-2014 08:27 AM

This is from yesterday's chat, the comments were posted after I had signed off for the night.

TX WeightLoser

I don't really agree with the eat more packets, I would ask you how much vegs your are getting. More than 4 cups could lead to more insulin and a hunger increase. Are you weighing your vegs raw? How much lean protein are you eating? Weighing it raw?

Texas: I measure all my veggies raw and get all my veggies every day, but not excess, just the 4 cups. I also get my lean protein everyday - 8 oz raw as the program calls for. Thanks for your input. I am going to try it their way for a while - IF I experience hunger, I will add a packet or lean protein. My coaches have not steered my wrong in the eight months (and 80 lbs lost) on the IP protocol. I just want to clarify it is hunger, not cravings. Up until last couple of weeks I never experienced the hunger. It is just another tool in my arsenal.

Ruth Ann:

Yeah for 3 inches! That is great!

Sorry you're under so much stress, it really isn't good for weight loss is it?

Thanks!!! I was super excited about the 3". As far as work. It is not going to change anytime soon, so I need to find a way to let it go and not let the stress get to me. It can affect weight loss, but my coach said to make sure I get enough sleep, which I do, I get about 8 hours a night (just something my body has always required). Some nights it feels like enough, others not.

Happy Thursday all.

Wondering if flavored coffee is OP....for example, we have a few bags of Godiva (chocolate truffle) and New England Coffee (hazelnut creme) hanging around. I drink my coffee black anyway and know about its dehydrating effect so I will drink an extra glass of water for every cup, but just wondering if the fact that it's flavored is OK? Thanks!

drd1961 03-06-2014 08:59 AM

Colorado, 3 inches is great and you know that when you lose inches the pounds will follow.

I have been studying P3 material so when I meet with my coach on Friday I will be prepared with questions and be able to understand more. I am looking forward to strawberries!

shrinkingsusie 03-06-2014 08:59 AM

:) Did some pictures today for the first time in 9 weeks!! These are my start pictures and this mornings pictures, but I also compared today to 9 weeks ago and there is definitely a lot of inch loss going on. :) Take that, Mr. Mean Scale. :p

shrinkingsusie - Wow!! You look amazing!

gnalosit 03-06-2014 09:16 AM

Wow shrinkingsusie great work!!!

For folks that take progress pics, how often do you taken them? I am starting week 4 and was planning to take them every 4 weeks but now maybe I think 8 wks would show better results?

drd1961 03-06-2014 09:23 AM

4 weeks would be good as well. I do not have any good ones before I started because I shunned the camera.

shrinkingsusie 03-06-2014 09:26 AM

Thanks everyone. :)

When I started I used to do progress pics every other week and measurements every 4 weeks... Now I just do them when I remember, or when I have had a few slow loss weeks for motivation. I realized this morning I haven't taken pictures or measurements for 9 weeks! I can't find my measuring tape though, so I am going to pick one up today to see my inches. :)

Love love this. I am a big tofu fan. I don't think I could eat it plain...so this is a good test! Last weekend at the farmers market, this lady was selling her own sprouted tofu that she had made. She about shoved it in my mouth. Yuck! Cold tofu is not good! lol.

ems70508 03-06-2014 09:30 AM

yay susie you look great!!! you're doing wonderful! My new coach measures every 3 weeks. I like measuring every week because the results are more real! The scale factors in so much to me that may not always show your results! But you're doing so amazing. So proud!!

kontesanera 03-06-2014 09:39 AM

shrinkingsusie wow wow wow! that is amazing!

Check out the nutritional information. As long as it is all zero across the board (calories, fat, carbs) I am pretty sure that you can drink it.

Vippysue 03-06-2014 10:08 AM

Actually 0/0/0 is sugar/fat/carbs (easy mistake to make). But the coffee should be fine if it's 0/0/0

GoneNatural 03-06-2014 10:59 AM

Morning,
Yipee! My coach is expecting me to be out the 190's on Mon. I got on the scale and it said 188 lbs. Usually my scale reads 2 pounds more than hers. I have to hand in there. Spring is approaching. :hyper:

Progress is great to see! Congrats! I think I'll do the same! :)
Must be very rewarding to see how long you've come, and where you don't want to go back to!! :)

qtpiemels 03-06-2014 11:18 AM

Susie, you look great!

My goal for today & moving forward it to cut out MiO. I think it's contributing to my slow losses. I haven't been drinking a ton of it but it might be enough to screw with me. I need to restrict any of the little extras like WF dressings & what not to maximize my losses!

Johnsdeere 03-06-2014 11:31 AM

Susie! You look awesome, are you feeling as good as you look. You really should be proud of yourself....wonderful results. :)

Debrasb 03-06-2014 11:35 AM

Hi everyone,
I'm back on program and still cooking. I wanted to share my latest in case anyone is interested in a new veggie option: Sweet and Sour Indian Spiced Red Cabbage. Super easy.

Wow Susie - you look great!! Today is Day 1 for me and this is such a great inspiration!!

LuvA1exa 03-06-2014 12:28 PM

Everyone here is such great motivation! I am on day 8 and so far so good.

Does anyone have a pdf of the food diary? Or can you direct me to where one is? Left without one after my appt yesterday. Any help is greatly appreciated.

eandc2006 03-06-2014 12:30 PM

Hey all. Started phase 3 today. I am at 130-131 and the scale hasn't moved for two weeks so perhaps a mix up will get me going again. I plan on doing two weeks of phase 3 and then moving forward with maintenance. Maybe I just need more fat/carbs to do the trick. I have never been able go under 130 (last time I was under I was probable 14...no joke.) That being said, I will take 130 in the meantime and continue to work towards 125 with working out in maintenance and carefully separately the carbs and fats.

ReenHag 03-06-2014 12:44 PM

From Lisain yesterday's chat:

I have the reboot info somewhere. I'll look it up for you. Long reboot for you! Perhaps it's time to phase off?

Also, do you have Beck Diet Solution? It is great at helping pinpoint what is going on.

I am planning to phase off in the coming weeks, which is why my question. I remember reading on the forum that a short reboot can have an abbreviated phase three; I am just not sure if my 8-10 weeks qualifies.

And, no, I do not own that book. With testing coming up in two weeks, I was thinking of looking into some new literature. If there is an e-version, I will probably download it to my Kindle. I love the quotes you post from it!

Bellamack 03-06-2014 01:36 PM

Susie, you look great. I might be confused though. The pics & weight loss all happened in 9 weeks?

-6 degrees here, can't wait to go to Florida, I leave on the 18th and am counting the days, hours, minutes, seconds, lol

Have a wonderful day :)
