Just popping in to let you know that I donated another 2lbs at my WI today. Also reached for a treat, and guess what I choose a salad, and enjoyed it. Enjoy your evening, here in Manitoba we are having such wind and this morning a little freezing rain. This weather warning is actually for today and Thursday.

dlr9774 01-15-2014 05:20 PM

My clinic gave me expired puddings today as part of my three boxes. I don't know what to think? She even had expired written on the box. Any suggestions.

It's funny you say this RN4Babies, when I potty trained my now four year old twins, I used smarties, they trained fast because they were ready just before 3 years old - but thinking back one smartie was for them and a few for me. I think that is when I put on some extra pounds. We now do stickers for helping and listening!

I would call them for an explanation and see if you can take them back. You are paying way too much money to for expired product.

Were you charged full price or did they truly "give" them to you?
Foods like these will be good long after the expiration date, but I wouldn't pay for them, esp full price.

I agree with Lisa. If they were given to you for free, enjoy! If you paid full price demand you get new boxes.

It's more of a CYA thing with the expiration dates, these sealed packets will be good after the date.

IP has been a get-out-of-obesity-jail card for me. I found it relatively pleasant to follow, too. Just recently I had to use P1 to get some holiday weight off after about 4 months on P4. Each time on P1 I've bumped into very low mood, accompanied by irritability and absentmindedness (more than baseline!) that improves with added carbs. But, if I go over a certain carb amount, that brings in another set of issues, eg slower weight loss on P1, cravings on P4.

It seems there is a such narrow margin of the right amount and type of carbs, for me anyway. I had planned to continue eating very low-carb ongoing, maybe even stay in mild ketosis at a higher calorie intake. I am so interested to find out what experiences others have had with mood and cognitive function on the various phases of IP. Thanks!

My mood was fine when I started IP in August. I just started my post-holiday reboot, and I have been miserable for two weeks. However, I really do not think that my mood is related to IP. I am just miserable at work, the weather has me down, and it is my second TOM in a month.

Mine took six business days to arrive. I ordered last week (Sunday, Jan. 5).

Maybe the treat could be a sticker or extra book at bed time. That's what my sister did with my nephew who's 3. That way you can turn the word treat into something more than food. Might be helpful for your own mind to change the meaning of that word in your head.

Definitely! An immediate reward, if possible, is ideal for the youngest ones. Perhaps a sticker chart could be the immediate reward if you don't always have time for a book right away. Then so many stickers could equal a bigger reward (fun kiddie undies, extra play time with Mommy, a new book, etc.). Good luck with the training!

Had my first WI today-down 5 pounds. Feels like more, but I'll take it :) feeling great and looking forward to the next week!

Bellamack 01-15-2014 06:46 PM

Wow Sylviesgirl Congrats, that is a milestone :)

I will have rebooted 2 weeks this friday and I still am in a "low" mood and a friend dragged me out today and it felt good. It happened the first time around with IP too. So many people on IP state that they feel great and have increased energy. I NEVER did when I did IP in 2011, I never felt like myself until I started phase 3 and then 4. Everyone is different, but don't feel like something is wrong if you don't feel ON TOP of the WORLD! lol

Have a nice evening and congrats to all the losses & NSV's!

Glad you got out today Bellamack. It's amazing how intertwined our brain wiring and carb metabolism are, and same goes for how differently IP affects each of us. Half the time I feel like I'm meant to live on restricted carbs because of the sense of well-being & the rest of the time I want to take mood elevators!

New to the 3FC on a Diet Board- Been on IP 6 months

I've been on IP for 6 months and lost 50lbs. Went on vacation early December and have found it HARD to get back on track for more than a week at a time before I cheat and ruin my hard work. Any guidance or advice for staying on plan and losing this last 12 lbs??? My husband was very supportive, but now sees me cheat while I spent 100.00 a week on IP foods.. HELP!!! :dizzy:

Yup. It's hard. So was losing the 50.
It's attitude adjustment time because:

Time to get back the "no matter what" attitude and get it done
My DH tells me all the time, "if it was easy, everyone would do it"

cproko27 01-15-2014 07:35 PM

Thanks Lisa. I know its more mental than anything; I have 2 work events coming up with food and I am contemplating not going to either just to stay on track. I was so motivated the first 50 and now I am so close to my goal that I am burnt out and giving up too easy. Your hubby is right, if it was easy, everyone would do it.
I need to get this done.

In the words of ISHBEL on the Maintainers Thread:

Being overweight is hard
Losing weight is hard
Maintaining weight is hard

So pick your hard. Like Lisa said...if it was easy everyone would be doing it!

No Lisa, my consultant charged me for them, we can mix and match to make up our 21 items, or 3 boxes, I was charged for them. I felt at the time it wasn't right. Oh well, next time I will say something.

I am starting in 2 days try to get everything ready. My question is I found a recipe for bread using ip potato packet and then u can use the bread to make a hamburger.how do you count that?if im using a packet plus my protein? sorry if i am posting in wrong place.

lisa32989 01-15-2014 08:23 PM

Stefnrod
Perfect place to ask!
Most questions are FAQs anyway

I don't use a packet hack recipe & mix with a protein. Some people might and use only 4 oz burger and then have the other 4 oz for another meal.

Personally, I'd have the asparagus guacamole or cauliflower hummus with potato packet breadsticks. I have Portabella mushroom caps as a burger "bun" if I really feel one is necessary.

stefnrod 01-15-2014 08:27 PM

OK thanks. I get my food tomorrow then hitting grocery store for veggies. I have been all over this site getting good recipes. Can not wait to get started. And this seems like a great place to learn more about the program.

Perfect idea! I did it for about 6 weeks before I started. Had a lot of knowledge by the time I dove in

I move back to my normal weigh in today - hopefully that will bring some of the good "mo-jo" back. I am hoping that today show's a good number on the scale.

I switched up what I was eating so hopefully that will do it.

Down 4.6 at today's weigh in. Yeah. I will update my ticker tomorrow (hard to do iPad). I think my total is just over 70 since starting. Wahoo. Guess changing up the menu helped. I am so happy. I also lost 1 3/4 inches.

Happy day

Confused

What type of milk, soy or half and half, are better in my americano? I'm on phase 1 of IP. I'm in my first week.:?:

I believe you can only use one ounce of skim. I don't drink coffee, so I don't recall, but I know it is on the sheet. Check the stickies in the first post of this thread. Good luck!

Good morning. I got very little sleep last night. My daughter called me from college very excited about call backs(she is a double major in theater directing and performance), and wanted to talk. That was midnight, oh my. Oh well, it is not the first time I have gone on little sleep and tonight is a quiet night at home.

I have a promo to do at lunch for a singing valentine group I am in. It is at the country club for local chamber of commerce to drum up interest. It will be fun, but I switched to alto because we are low on that part and I got the music two days ago, gulp. Oh well, wing it. We need to wear white on top, black on bottom, and luckily I bought some new black dress pants that fit last weekend so I will not be tugging those up.

Wish me luck!

shrinkingsusie 01-16-2014 08:29 AM

Good morning!!

Down 3.4 lbs for week 27 weigh in! What a welcome number after two 1 pound weeks in a row! Hello 170s, I don't plan to visit long, wouldn't want to keep the 160s and 150s waiting! :p

Hope everyone has a great day!

shrinkingsusie 01-16-2014 08:31 AM

Also, I am now one pound away from the lowest I got to while doing IP the first time! This time I have my head in the game and am going to see it through until goal and into maintenance!

Well Aunt Flo's in town so a small loss this week. Didn't quite hit 145 yet. :/
But I know it's just water retention. Next week for sure! My sinuses have begun to drain and now I have that annoying cough as well. Ugh. Going to try and avoid the cough drops, don't want hat yucky bloat on top of everything else! Hope ya'll stay warm and have a great day!

Awesome, girl!! WTG :bravo:

Hi everyone! Started P4 yesterday. Was a little weird having the carbs at supper (I had a steak, brown rice, veggie stir-fry), still feel a bit "guilty" about it but I'm not going to beat myself up.

Hearing some great NSV's lately - love hearing those, keep it up everyone!

Got some Quest bars the other day - love, love, love the Cinnamon Roll and Strawberry Cheesecake ones, yum! Unfortunately, so does my son... :D

Horrible weather here today - a bunch of highways around the city are closed, I have lots of staff who won't make it in and I have a million things to do <sigh>. Oh well, another cup of tea and get at it.

Happy Thursday!
Jo
