Confessions and truths

  • I confess I find it easier to watch what I eat with other people.

I confess food tastes so much better to me when eat by myself.
Am I weird to feel like this? It just feels so much more enjoyable and tasty.
I have come to a realization I am closet eater.

What have you discovered about yourself that you did not know before...and how it is impacting your success and or failure.

I am at the point of realizing it is not only important how to lose the weight but what are my Quirks that are standing in the way of me being able to stabilize my weight.

Just need to get my head in the game and clear out all the garbage I have allowed to undermined my progress

One of my strong suits is people and project management. I finally figured out I needed to performance manage myself. What do YOU do well?

    Suggestion:
Make what you do well work for YOU!
Don't focus on your shortcomings..Dakl1 says "Don't look back..you're not going there.." Gotta LOVE that....She is a wise woman!
  • Mine is the opposite…I am a major social eater! When home alone (hubby on road)…I will cook a bunch of chicken breast and eat that 2-3 nights and make zucchini to go with it. I don't even like to take the time to eat alone.

But invite me to dinner, have an event…I am done! I have tried for years to be good out…to no success!

I have been following the IP life for about 41 months now. When I stay home and plan nothing, I am so perfect.

I actually have to turn down social invitations to be successful
  • I'm the same as Darbs - my motivation goes out the window when I'm socializing. Tomorrow we're going to a chinese restaurant to celebrate my brother's 40th birthday and there is going to be alot of people there. I'm so worried I won't be able to stick to the plan. I looked at the menu online and found very few items I could have. So my plan is to order some steamed veggies and a meat dish without the sauces, just get them to make it with soya sauce. I'm going to do the best I can.

I confess I do not know how to keep this weight off for life. That I will struggle continously.

I like that performance manage myself.
I think I need to keep a tight rein on myself ....cuz when left to my own devices I run blindly into the do not enter .
Amazing how all of us are so different. I just find being with others too distracting to be able to enjoy eating.

Good luck tomorrow. Where are you at in journey? Maintenance or loss?
  • weight loss - I initially lost 18 on IP, never really met my goal, so now I'm attempting to reach my goal of 130-125 before my first wedding dress fitting in May. I'm getting married in August. I don't want to look pudgy in my pics lol.

I started my weight loss journey years ago though on WW when I was 185 lbs. I have since kept most of my weight off but never made it in the 120's and barely made it into the 130's on IP. This time I'm determined to do it.

I remember you from two years ago, when I first started IP. You have done so well. I never use to post much, just read.

Its real easy..I used to use a grid with 3 columns for my staff (4 if you add one for the date and I'd meet 1:1 daily/ every/3days /weekly or monthly depending on the issue and how much pressure I needed to apply to the person...

    Progress toward: ABCExpectation:________
    Failure to Meet Expectation By______
    Will result in: XYZ

Date ****** Status *** Goal *********Progress
Real Time ****Real Wt ****Final Weight **** Actual# Pounds Lost

LOL, I was pretty good at making myself clear in the workplace....and once I began IP and saw it actually worked... it was a no-brainer to expect clear results from myself.

Made myself a grid just like this......Honest I did! Did not think the thing the IP office used weekly was good enough.

Weighed daily and recorded weekly. If I had slipped...it was going to be a daily recording (UGH!! Having to face that!!)...and lets be clear since there is a debate about daily weighing...I don't like hopping on the scale daily any more than anyone else...but I did it and used the weekly "Status and Progress" columns to motivate myself to keep going. Yes...I saw daily fluctuations...and used them to make sure the weekly number was at least the same if not lower. That is how I figured out if some products affected my losses, and made decisions not to use certain things. I see people questioning higher carb, Artificial sweeteners, sodium etc. products. There is no one answer...we are all different. But if you pretend it doesn't matter...then it doesn't. I wanted off this protocol ASAP...so ...my method worked for me.

Also did this same thing for my waist and hip measurement...but then added a column for when my sizes changed and I had to shop!
Gave copies of these to my Dr at my physical in August...and she LOVED it...Laughed out loud when she noted the shopping column! I had 3 big shopping events noted (March-June-August)....and then there was the final one in the fall. Mydaughter reminded me the March and June stuff no longer fits..so 2014 Spring and Summer shopping sprees are still to be anticipated!!!

We're all different...just figure out "how you work" and what turns your inner self on...then make a plan that includes those things. My husband says just making the grid was way enough to "turn my inner self on"...he's right...Also had an inventory of my IP and EAS drinks and did an order every week...which my coach started to copy so she could adjust her own inventory...
  • Food is my celebration for everything, I love to cook, I love to socialize etc. I went out to lunch yesterday for my birthday (today) and was really good, even gave the "free" dessert away. I hope my mindset is Super Strong this time. I had knee surgery 5 weeks ago today and my other knee is not good, the weight off will help alot, so I have to focus on that.

Can identify with that actually. I used to LOVE baking and decorating cakes and really special cookies, esp for the holidays and just about any occasion...molded ones were my specialty.... snowmen...teddy bears....mice with licorice tails, decorated sugar cookies using pastry tube........ However; I traded that love for paper crafting and make my own cards now. Love the detail...Do you sew? How about knitting or some other thing that is creative and gives you a finished product? I find I don't miss the mess in the kitchen...and paper projects don't mix well with food ...of any kind! A splash or spilled cup of coffee ruins hours of work, to say nothing of a grease mark. Highly suggest something like that! My daughter started buying old furniture and restoring it and then doing decorative painting on the pieces...that keeps her out of the kitchen and she is enjoying the productive end and having something that lasts..or makes a spectacular gift for very little $$!
