Hi All,

I haven't been posting very much but am still reading a lot and celebrating everyone's losses..

I have been having a lot of tummy troubles and have been diagnosed with IBS.. so now I have a lot to learn about what I can / can't eat.. I have been in a lot of pain and missing work the last few weeks..I have not been OP but would like to be again in the new year.. not sure how IP and IBS go together?? I do know dairy isn't agreeing with me at all.. which isn't a problem.. Does anyone have any words of wisdom for me on this? Thanks,

From a lot of the natural health/healing folks I learn from staying away from gluten is a biggie (actually most grains)

You might want to research gut health, bone broth and also homemade probiotic foods such as homemade sauerkraut and homemade yogurt. I healed my gut and no longer have need for meds. It took time and energy, however.

There is growing info in something called "leaky gut" which mainstream medicine is just now starting to recognize (they've always called it IBS). Even doctor Oz did a show in it recently. From my reading, gluten is a huge culprit.

I have IBS and I have found that the diet has almost removed all my issues. I think that is was the grains causing me so many issues. I have had IBS for 18years, and now need no meds and can actually live with going out and about without having terrible upset stomach.

Been there, beat that!

I had my gall bladder removed when I was 17 and was diagnosed with IBS. My problem was fatty foods, sugar and dairy. All of these are eliminated on IP and I have not had any IBS symptoms! Although I do get the big C from time to time, nothing a natural probiotic can't fix (like what Lisa suggested or a pill)!

I also know that I cannot have more than 1 cup of coffee and my pills cannot be taken on an empty stomach.

I think anyone who gets a general diagnosis of IBS should proceed with allergy testing including a test for Celiac's. My sister was diagnosed with IBS years ago and after adding more fiber to her diet and doing what the doctor said she still had problems. After under going allergy testing including a test for Celiac disease which was negative. It turn out she was allergic to barely. She altered her diet, eats gluten free now is fine. I worked in a GI doctors office and I saw this happen all the time.

From what I've learned, a lot of people can be negative on the Celiac test and still be gluten sensitive. The best way to determine that (after a negative test) is to cut gluten for at least 3 weeks and then reintroduce to see if there is a difference.
Unfortunately, there isn't a test for the gluten sensitive folks.
Our "newer" foods (GMOs, newer strains of wheat with more gluten, etc) are reacting in our bodies differently and modern medicine is only now catching up.
