ladybugsgrandma - The charms are a great idea. I reward myself by getting 90 minute massages. I am always tense or stressed out so this helps me.

Thanks

I was told restricted. Wish it wasn't!

wantanewme - I just read you are from NoVa too - where are you located?

Week 1 weigh in and I'm down 6.8 lbs. Feeling pretty good and looking forward to continuing. Thank you everyone who posts little hints on how to include veggies or their favorite foods. The variety will really help me to keep going!

Had 8oz of scallops tonight stir fried with some garlic and spinach. Yummy but warning if you were really hungry it might not be really feeling. Funny how 2 cups of spinach just disappeared when stir fried.

My coach said something at the end of our meeting which struck me as wrong. He told me cucumbers and celery don't count for my select vegetables. Yet when I got home they are on the list he gave me for select? He is new and in the midst of training so maybe he's wrong. Anyone else know for sure?

Hi...I am new here. I am on IP week 2, lost 4.8 lbs. in week 1. I have a question, I noticed 4 days ago that after my bowel movement there was a red color in the water, this happened today as well.

Could this be blood or as I had the peach & mango drink, could it be the color from the drink. I am following the protocol and drinking lots of water. I am on Blood Pressure medication and my coach knows and hence substituted the salt.

Anyone else have the same concern? let me know.

Moby,

While most of us come here looking for guidance and support, I always suggest to defer questions such as this to your doctor or IP coach. Most of us here aren't qualified to give medical advice (not to say that there aren't a good deal of smart, helpful people :D)

I agree on checking with your doctor. ASAP!
I've not had colored stools from drinks

Calgary,

My center definitely says that Cukes and celery are on the list. They count! The only thing that's "free" is romaine.. It's actually one of my go to snacks lately. I'm finding I crave salty/savory much more than sweet, so I went out and got some high quality sea salt and have been sprinkling that on with my veggies. My coach said this is fine to do (actually a good thing) since I drink on average 150oz of water a day..

Hard to describe...sort of like an apple, but not as sweet. Very crunchy. Kind of a cross between and apple and a raw potato, maybe.

Kawaii,

Since we're pretty close in size I was curious if you had noticed the same thing. I'll go 3 or 4 days in a row where my weight doesn't really fluctuate at all, then suddenly drop like 4 pounds in a day. Do you do the same too or do you lose pretty steadily?

LUCCILOVE 10-30-2013 11:30 AM

Hello!

Sorry to re-post but my first trade fell through. I never heard from that person. Hope she is ok. I am desperate to get rid of these and try new items. I would hate for these to go to waste.

My clinic in VA does not exchange/take back or have a swap basket for any packets we dont like or use and they only sell food by the box. I have several individual packets I will not use because I dont like them. The packets are either from my sampler that I got or from boxes I paid for to try.

I have:

1 Wildberry Yogurt Drink Mix EXP 11/2014

1 Peach & Mango Drink Mix EXP 11/2014

Other unexpired packets I just bought that I have to trade are plain egg omelete, Rotini, tomato basil rotini, chocolate brownies, spaghetti bolognese

I am new - this is my 3rd week on the plan. I would like to try dill pickle zippers, leek and tomato soup, pancake mixes, Choco-Peanut Butter Bar, Vanilla Peanut Bar, BBQ Ridges or Soy Nuts.

Let me know if you are interested. I am in the Northern VA area outside of DC. I will send in US or Canada if it is not too expensive. Thanks in advance.

I love looking at everyone's tickers. I am amazed at how much everyone has lost in such a short amount of time. It encourages me to stay on tract and I will be there soon.

Jig,

I don't weigh in unless it's at the center. I had some trouble with hyperfocusing on numbers and doing a good bit of emotional damage if the numbers weren't moving "fast enough" or if I wasn't doing "good enough".. soo I wouldn't really know. I'm feeling good about the progress being made. Sorry that this doesn't answer the exact question..

No problem, I completely understand. I asked just out of curiosity. Got my next weigh in Friday. I'm hoping for 5 lbs which would mean I'm down 30 lbs in the first month. Getting a ton of people already noticing and commenting that they can tell I'm losing. Clothes are fitting better and the diet has started to just become habit rather than something I force myself to do. All great NSVs!

would they make a good alternative to "french fries" I tried rutabaga and didn't like them

I like raw jicama. Its like a pear/apple with a turnip/potato texture. I tried it as fries and didn't like it. I do like it diced in my chicken noodle soup though :)

I didn't like it as fries, however, it is really yummy when you slice it thinly, and fry it with cinnamon and some splenda. Add a little Walden farms pancake syrup and its a delicious desert.

I wouldn't say french fries but i did slice very thin, spray with evoo, dash of salt, pepper and garlic powder. Stuck them in the over at 425. Flipped after 10 mins. If you don't slice them super thin, you'll get an apple texture for sure! I let them cool a little bit to harden up and they are ALMOST like a chip to me!

Haven't tried the 'sweet' way yet but I hear great things!

claustin 10-30-2013 03:56 PM

Good Afternoon Everyone! Hope you're all having a wonderful OP day. I am house cleaning today...blah...trying to keep busy cause I am being tempted....but I have not gave in. Keep downing water and sneaking Dill pickles lol Whatever works right? I snuck on the scale this morning (I am doing this on my own - no coach) and its moving in the right direction. But I am waiting for Monday (weigh in day) to change my ticker. I was suppose to "weigh-in" this past Monday but after having an off Sat & Sun I figured it would be best to wait till I have a full consecutive 7 days. But I was so happy with the number this morning, it is keeping me motivated :)

Anyway, I hope you continue to have a wonderful day :) will check in later tonight

emsmom97 10-30-2013 03:56 PM

Just had to post 2 NSV this week. I went "shopping" in my closet both yesterday and today, in the jeans section, and was able to wear jeans that didn't fit a few weeks ago. They were comfortable and fit better than they had when I bought them. So...I look DAMN good again today! Plus, I feel great knowing I am wearing smaller jeans. The scale might not be moving much, but my body is definitely changing.

iwannabe140 10-30-2013 04:15 PM

Second weigh in today, down 2lbs, could have been better if I followed plan better over the weekend, but all in all I'm happy.

CleverName 10-30-2013 04:52 PM

Hi everyone!
I'm a newbie. :) Just started IP on Monday using alternative products. So far, so good. Have had a few 'accidents', but nothing big. (ie. Taking a bite of my son's cookie and swallowing it on day 1 before suddenly realising I can't do that, lol!).
I've got about 35-40 lbs to lose. I've been very happy with myself over the past few days, lol. Kinda silly, but very happy to be finally doing something about my health, my weight, and staying OP.

Slipfree 10-30-2013 05:09 PM

Emsmom, great nsv! Love it when the pants fit better.

Welcome Clevername!

Claustin- glad it's been a good day.

Wannabe- congrats on your loss.

I'm in Calgary too and my coach says lettuce, celery, and cucumbers are unlimited. I've been munching on cucumbers and celery a bit between meals when I'm hungry and I hope that's okay!

Thank you airportchick11!! I'll definitely follow up with my coach but it was one of those "what the" moments when I looked at my list of select veggies. If cucumber didn't count I think I would be seriously veggie challenged. Still looking for that Jicama though!:carrot:

Congratulations for taking the steps to do it for you! You should be happy both about the decision and for staying OP. Slips happen and you will get better, don't beat yourself up to much :)

Darn this Halloween!! Still have not succumbed to temptation but my co-workers are not making it easy darn it! Oh well, yoga tomorrow then the Dixie Chicks and that's my reward for staying OP.

Hi stephascope (cute name btw). Thanks for the post back. Mine is saying ulimited too but is also saying that cucumber and celery don't "count" as my veggie yet they are on the list of select vegetables. I'll have to show him at the next meeting. :dizzy:

Woo hoo! Shopping in your own closet is the best! It always feels great to put on something you know hasn't fit for a while, definitely gives you a real sense of accomplishment. Congratulations!:carrot:

I can get it at either the fruit and veg stand in town or at the grocery store. I bought my last one at Haggen's, but have seen it all over the US (and UK) in different stores.

My grocery usually keeps it by the potatoes, but they move it around depending on what they have on hand.

I like to get the jicama in the more "healthy" driven supermarkets. It's a big bulbish brown thing, hard. Peel the skin off with a knife and I cut it into large slices and then slice it like French fries. They do count as part of your 2C veggie. They are not unlimited. As well as cucumber. So I'm told :). The only thing I've been told is unlimited is lettuce. Blah! :)

airportchick11 10-30-2013 09:51 PM

I get mine at extra foods. It's in the oriental produce department. But at sobeys it's by the turnip

I'm in mcmurray, and my coaches say only lettuce is unlimited

Happy Halloween all! We made it! Last day of the month. We will no longer be the newbies! Doesn't it feel good?

Hope you all have a terrific day. Remember, hand out those goodies! Don't want to keep the leftovers in the house for tomorrow. Personally, I'm sending my leftovers to my son in college first thing tomorrow morning. He'll be thrilled with a care package and I don't have to have the temptation in the house. It's a win/win!!!
