Default Phase 3 and exercise question

Hello everyone,

I am starting Phase 3 on Monday and I am thinking about starting to exercise too. I am not at my goal weight, but I am phasing off for the month of September and October because I am going to Hawaii and Baja. I am thinking of adding in exercise to try and firm up, gain some muscle, and hopefully counteract any weight gain I might have from this change.

My question is regarding the timing of breakfast. If any of you work out, when do you eat the large breakfast since it has to be eaten in one sitting. I want to work out first thing in the morning. Would it be okay to have half a shake, work out, then have my big breakfast after?

That sounds like a good plan! Exercise is definitely okay in Phase 3, you don't really want to eat a big breakfast before working out, a shake would be just right beforehand. That's exactly how I was timing it when I was doing 5am runs - shake or bar beforehand, run, then big breakfast afterwards.
