I've been on this for almost 4 weeks. I've lost 12 pounds. I haven't cheated once, and have kept a full diary.
Every time I take a Potass-mag, my stomach gets an irritated feeling, its like heart burn. There are other times when my stomach feels like someone carved out the lining with a spoon when I eat certain vegetable, especially broccoli. It gets a blown up, feeling, like when you get a stomach virus. This stomach irritation has been going on for 2 weeks now.
The last 2 days I've been feeling like I don't want the veggies, cause my stomach feels blown up. I'm getting very discouraged, not to mention I've been on an 8 day plateau. I feel like my body is naturally rejecting this program. At first I was only getting in 48 oz of water, so I increased it to 80 oz. When I did that, that is when I hit my plateau. I don't understand how water can cause a plateau.
My IP food choices are varied, and I cycle my restricted foods daily, like if I eat a bar as my night time snack, the next day I'll have the spaghetti as my restricted choice. The next day I'd cycle it as the oats for breakfast.
Its getting really hard to stick with this. Has anyone else experienced this? Did you stay on program, or did you get off and transition to something like South Beach or Sonoma? I am trying to give this program a chance, but I don't think that my body is very happy with what is going on.
Thanks for any input. And good luck to those that are doing well with this program.
Thanks for the message. When I wrote back to you, it wouldn't send my message because I don't have enough forum posts or something. Bizarre. Thanks for the great input and good luck on your progress.
I used to get a sharp pain in my stomach after taking the morning supplement (is that the potassium one? the one you only take in the morning). The pain only lasted 5 min or so, wasn't every day and eventually went away. It was not a big deal in the long run. As to veggies, certain veggies are known to cause gas. Cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower...you can do some googling to find out what veggies are known to cause gas. You can either cut those veggies out of your diet or maybe use a digestive aid like Beano. It sounds to me like it's the veggies that are the problem and not IP itself. Hang in there.
I was told to eat before I took my meds...especially the potassium-calcium pill taken in the morning. That way they wouldn't be so irritating on my stomach. But I also have some burning in my stomach after meals so I found a sugar free version of Tums and I will chew one of those if my tummy starts feeling uncomfortable. It really helps me a lot. Good Luck!
I drink the choc drink every morning and take my suppliments. I have the same problem. I mentioned it to my coach who blamed it on the amount of broccoli and cauliflower I eat. She said it was making me "gassy". Honestly, it only happens after my morning IP drink so I think it is either something in the IP ingredients or suppliments. Generally by mid afternoon it goes away.
I appreciate everyone's advice. However I've given this all some thought, and I've come to the conclusion that IP is not for me. My body just isn't tolerating this very well. I don't even want to eat anything at all anymore. Something isn't right. I think its best for me to go back to counting my carbs/fats/proteins. It will be slow and steady, but I know I won't have all this irritation and inflammation in my stomach. Good luck to everyone, on whatever plan you are following.

Perhaps this is the best option, but it would still be beneficial to dig deeper and find what really was causing the problem. There could be something that needs to be addressed.
I can relate perfectly. I'm at the end of my second week and am having issues with stomach pain. This is a new symptom and am hoping it'll pass like all the others have. I have been eating a lot of brocolli and cauliflower and until 2 days ago tolerated it well. Just went shopping and bought additional veggies and will stay away from broc and caul for awhile and see if pain eases. I've also had problems with the big "C" and from advice of my coach took a Senecot last night. Took awhile but it was successful, yeah! I'm committed to this and want to lose 20 pounds to start with and then I'll reevaluate. Any advice from IP dieters will be welcomed...encouragement also. My loss so far has been minimum at 4.3 pounds, not the greatest but it's a loss. Have a great weekend, all.
I had problems taking those supplements and switched them out with products from a different company that were easier to absorb. I do not remember what the salt was, it was in a different form.
