Default Integrating Exercise and Being Ravenously Hungry/Eating Things not on the Diet

Hi.
Folks I need help. From April-May I rocked Phase 1 and lost 23 lbs. I realize that there was probably a bit of lean mass lost in the 23 total, but I'm really pleased with the results. I have about 20 left to meet my goal and have been told I need to exercise more. Here's the problem...anytime I do more than a 30 minute walk I wind up starving and feeling exhausted/disoriented. I have tried some resistance training and have also tried to do some jogging. I did a 30 min jog today and was starving by this afternoon. I ended up eating a whole bunch of stuff that I should not have. This seems to happen 3-4 times per week whenever I try to crank up the exercise. I'm inclined to just stick with a 30 min walk and happily lose my remaining weight. I'm thinking that I can add back some lean mass once I hit the goal weight. Has anyone else dealt with this problem? Any suggestions? I can tell you this, one extra packet does not cut it.
Thanks!!!

This is a hot topic, and there are several exercise threads that address it. The rule of thumb is add a packet when you work out. My own personal experience is as follows: I lost well the first 6 weeks while taking walks with my dogs and one short hike a weekend, but I didn't like that I wasn't toned. I took one exercise class a week for two weeks. Both weeks, my losses slowed to one pound a WI. Because of the low carbs and other physiological factors associated with ketogenic diets, exercise is not required or recommended. I decided that with my goal (30-35 pounds), it was best to just stop exercising for just a little longer until phase 3. Other people prefer to tone and lose slowly. Either way, you're going to need to have at least one more u restricted packet or a couple of egg whites.

IP is designed to be a no-exercise diet. It's far too low calorie to sustain muscle recovery, which is why the extra packet is recommended. Hungry periods are common as you get closer to goal, but if your body is beyond hungry after exercise you are probably doing something that is too high intensity for your individual body to handle on the very low calories. If the extra packet isn't enough, you're pushing your body too hard for it to recover.

I would suggest dialing down what you are doing - switching to a walk (where you don't get out of breath at all or raise your heart rate) is probably the right path, and keep having the extra packet after your walks.

I was just wondering who told you to work out more? I know it's kind of hard to pull back if you are used to it, but I HAD too. I cannot fathom having the energy for a thirty minute jog!
