New to IP

Hi I started Ideal Protein diet on Monday May 6, I feel I am doing well so far.
I want to lose 107 pounds and so far I have lost 5. Just starting to crave sweets, I am trying to stay strong. So far my only side effects have been a few dizzy spells and massive break outs on my face.

Hi Saphi

Welcome and congrats on a great first week.
I am somewhat new as well, this is my 4th week and am super happy with results.
This forum is great help.
I would recommend you read a post 'Ketosis' http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/subs...ption&t=256818 and go from there.

Cravings will go away very very soon. For now, I would use a bar or a chocolate soy puffs for example as a snack if you have cravings.

Good luck:)

This forum really helped me out.
It's bookmarked on my iPad and I Check it sometimes even few times a day.

Just remember you are going through adjustment. You can do it, and the journey is so worth the results.

Hi, Going to start on IP, trying this on my own. I've attended two seminars on this program at my Dr.'s office. Just too expensive through them. Please fill me in on where to buy comparable products. I have been reading some of the posts and have a good idea where to get what I need.
Thanks!
;)

Welcome newbie IPeeps! Check the forum out....tons of great information to help you be successful.

There are several alternative threads
Read through this one to get started

I know it is long but it is packed with info. All of us who have been here for a while have spent hours reading/researching to learn. It definitely takes extra time to do it on your own. You're paying someone else to do that for you when you use a coach.

Welcome to all of you newbies!! This is a great place to be! The program is great and it works if you stick to it. You'll find lots of support and answers to questions here!

You've made the decision and you've begun!!

Last year at this time I was wishing and hoping and praying for some miracle that would allow me to change my body. I wished so hard that something would appear and I could flip a switch and have a smaller, healthier body.

Then I found out about IP, made the decision, and began on June 14. I reached my goal in mid-March.

Now, at this end of the journey, it seems like it was magic. It really was a bit of work, some delicious foods, and a great learning experience. But it still feels like magic!

You can do it too!!

Cherie2888 05-11-2013 06:32 PM

Stick with it. You will be glad you did. Even though I still have a long way to go, I feel great and I find it's easy to stay OP. Congrats on your loses!

Camcolt 05-12-2013 06:59 PM

brelo 05-12-2013 07:22 PM

Welcome to all the newbies!

I have also heard it said on these boards: welcome to your last diet. I have found this to be true. I am so glad I found this diet before the operating table found me! (weight loss surgery has been on the back burner as a last resort for years, now it's not even on the stove at all!)

This way of eating is not without it's challenges, but from all of the previous diets I have been on, I can tell you that this plan is about as "auto-pilot" as it gets! I love this plan. And the encouragement and motivation I have received from these boards is something for which I will always be grateful.

Stick to the plan and visit the boards for support. Just pick ANY thread and you will get a little education about how it all works and lots of encouragement. Good luck!

Saphi 05-13-2013 10:48 AM

Week 1: 10 pounds This real motivation to stay with it.

Saphi 05-13-2013 10:53 AM

I have to say you are right I have never lost so easy on a diet, I had been told it is either this diet or surgery. I am so glad I chose the diet! I hope all my other numbers are going down as well. Yesterday everyone around me eating pie. It really didn't bother me with other diets I would have had to leave the room.

I posted on the Daily Thread before seeing this thread. Oops!

I am considering starting IP and would like some feedback. What made you do it? Are you happy so far? I have seen multiple comments about IP or surgery. Unfortunately, I have already tried weight loss surgery with poor results :-( I wish I hadn't! I am looking for something to change my life (I have about 80-100 lbs to lose).

kbrumley80 05-13-2013 12:16 PM

Congrats to everyone just starting! I am just starting as well! I do love this diet so far! :)

amberjules 05-13-2013 12:34 PM

Welcome to all the newbies and for making a really great decision to start on the IP protocol.

I remember the day I started - 11/27/12. Best decision of my life! I'm now 24 weeks into this diet and have lost 62.6 lbs and 62.5 inches! I feel like I'm in control of my self again and not emotionally eating.

I remember everybody saying this will be the last diet you'll ever be on and I was such a skeptic - only because I knew myself - a serial dieter.

Psstttt....I think they were right. It's been the easiest 24 weeks on a diet and the longest I've ever gone without one single cheat! Not one!

There are so many different products to satisfy your salty or sweet cravings - so I would suggest buying as much variety as you possibly can so when that salty or sweet craving hits you, you'll be able to pull out out your packet of food and be satisfied.

There's a ton of information around here on how to be successful with this diet. My biggest suggestion: PLAN, PREPARE, ORGANIZE. If you do this you will succeed. I keep IP food and salad dressing in my purse, at work, and an emergency bag in my car so I can never have an excuse to fail.

Good luck! You can do this. There's so much support in the forums!

Mysticaldreamzz 05-13-2013 01:02 PM

Saphi - fantastic WI!! Congrats!

Orientation to IP tomorrow.

Hi all! First post here. I am going to my IP Orientation tomorrow and will likely be signing up based upon a friend's success and my own research. I am nervous (very nervous) and hope to get some help and good thoughts from you all as I start my way on the journey and then, perhaps in the future, give back to other who are in my present situation.

Warmest,
S

Meat and veggies need to be measured raw. If it's a roast or something already cooked, have 5-6 oz.

I love IP! I put this in the daily chat last week, but I thought you might appreciate it. My total cholesterol dropped from 248 to 165 since I started IP, and all of my other numbers were beautiful (except a little thyroid issue). Stick with it. I love the weight loss, but watching the change in bloodwork made me want to do backflips.

You know, I've been doing it wrong then, I have been measuring after cooking, even on the veggies. LOL, it just seemed wrong, that was so much meat, I told my coach, I didn't think I could eat that much meat and she said just keep trying, LOL

Hi everyone! I just started this diet on 5/6. I have my first WI last night and lost 7.6 lbs! I am so excited about this diet and feel like I have so much more energy already!

GOOD LUCK ALL!

sarita75 05-14-2013 11:52 AM

My biggest question or consideration is WHEN to start. I am concerned about being super grumpy and my job. Alas. :) No time better than soon. Tonight is my orientation.

Mysticaldreamzz 05-14-2013 12:08 PM

springmom - That's fantastic! Congrats!

safetylady 05-14-2013 12:13 PM

Welcome - The hardest part of the program for me was getting past the first few weeks. But, if you are determined and stay on course there are great rewards in both the way you feel and look.

I have an IP coach but have done some alternatives along with the IP products. Had I known about this site before I signed up with a coach, I would have done the program on my own.

This site is the best. Good luck on your jouorney.

I have been on 1 month now and not hungry and feel good, I have lost 14 pounds and most of that was the first 2 weeks. I had high expectations of the diet and feel like slowing down to about 2 pounds a week seems very slow. I have started walking for exercise and have not had any slips. Does this weight loss sound normal, will 2 pounds a week be the norm?

The average weight loss is 2-3lbs per week - remember that is an average, some weeks will be higher, some lower. Exercise will NOT make you lose more - on this diet, exercise will actually slow things down.

Camcolt 05-16-2013 09:41 PM

I started Monday the 13th and struggled a little bit. I do know that I am a sugar addict and always will be if I let myself.. Don't get me wrong I would love a bowl of ice cream but I know that it's not gonna pay off. So no ice cream for me just Teavana tea and gum to crave my sweet tooth. Any ideas let me know, first weigh in tomorrow.. So excited:-))

theEguarantee 05-17-2013 08:48 AM

Hi everyone!

I'm starting IP monday using alternative products. My dad did the IP products and did research to find nutritional copy cats of the products at stores in our community. I used ketosis for weight loss a couple of years ago using hCG. I'm SOOO excited to do it without using additives, and being able to have more variety in the food i'll be able to eat. I have 80 pounds to lose to be at my ultimate ultimate goal! I can't wait to get to it and change my eating habits for life!! I hope to get all the motivation I need on my bad days from this forum! Thanks for being here!!

springmom10 05-17-2013 09:10 AM

Are there any tricks on making the weight come off faster? After losing 7.6 the first week, I don't feel it coming off as fast this week. My WI is Monday so we will see. My coach said I could start walking so I have been doing that, in addition I have been doing some gardening. I drink 100 oz of water a day, so he said that will help too. I have been forgetting to take my supplements at night, like the magnesium so I hope that doesn't affect the weight loss. I am going to set a reminder on my phone!

I just want to make sure I lose this week, even if it's only 3 lbs! I know seeing the number on the scale go down will keep me motivated!

The first week you are losing water weight, too.
You just won't have that to lose.
IP is a VERY fast weight loss program (just compare to other things you've tried!) Don't try to tweak it. It is already VLC (very low calorie/very low carb).
Walking will NOT increase your losses, although it does make us feel better.
Taking all of your supplements and making sure you get all of your salt and oil is essential, as well.

Be happy with whatever the scale says! You ARE losing fat. Some weeks we don't lose much on the scale b/c we are holding water (for a multitude of reasons) but the fat keeps coming off. Scales are actually an inefficient way to measure fat loss.

Patience is hard but remember we didn't gain this weight overnite
