If you are going to be under anaesthesia, make sure you discuss the diet with your surgeon - they may need you to be out of ketosis for anaesthesia but only the MD can make that call. When you are healing, STAY OFF THE SCALE. Inflammation causes water retention, so the scale will probably be up - it is not real weight gain, just water weight that will eventually flush out when your body feels better. Make sure you discuss the supplements you take with your MD as well - calcium and magnesium can prevent antibiotics from being absorbed, so you need to coordinate supplements with your medications post-surgery to make sure you are getting everything you should out of the antibiotics if they are prescribed.

good luck!

I'll just have local anesthesia, so i'm not worried about general anesthesia complications. I'll be sure to stay off the scale, my losses are slow as it is, so i don't want to torture myself further!

As far as i know, i only have to premed for this appointment with antibiotics (Cipro) and he doesn't anticipate me needing any further antibiotics (other than disinfecting the area and applying antibiotic ointment). I'll stop my calcium and magnesium supplements the day before and the day after (just to be safe).

Thanks for the advice!

OMG! WHY DID YOU PEOPLE NOT MAKE ME TRY THE RHUBARB THING BEFORE NOW?! I made that tonight (used frozen rhubarb, sweetened with WF pancake syrup) and it is every.thing.I.wanted. EVERYTHING.

nom.

Try this: cook 2 cups of rhubarb in the micro until it has broken down to sauce. Stir in a packet of raspberry gelatin. Serve warm or chilled as a applesauce substitute/gift from heaven. :)

Posted in the 100% group as well but thought I'd try here too

If your coach recommends you phase off (after only 2 weeks) because they think you wont loose anymore weight, would you listen? I have only been on IP for 2 weeks. I have gone from 152 to 141 (tom weigh in) and have lost 6 1/4" . I am within my Ideal Body Weight and BMI for my height and age. I decided to stay on for one more week just because it is TOM for me and I want to see if it will make a difference at my next weigh in. I am not sure what to do, or what I want to do. I would love to see the scale at 130 but I don't know if I can/will. I was 130 last year this time but I lost a lot of muscle mass to get down that low. Right now my measurements are the exact same as I was at 130 (even though the scale says 141) What would you recommend I do? Phase off or stick with it?

Ladies I feel your pain with TOM. Caused me to only lose 0.8 this week. I'm looking forward to a much bigger number next week.

I'm thinking of phasing off in 4 weeks. I will be about 20 pounds more than what I wanted but I think I need a break. I will see how it goes and maybe start again in a few months to lose the last 20. Has anyone else done this?? People are telling me there is no way that I should be taking 30 more pounds off there would be nothing left of me!

I am starting phase 3 in the morning. The timing was pre planned, and I have 20 lbs left too. I have not exercised at all, so I plan to start and eat clean to lose the last 20.
