Default Motivating idea

My friend, who goes to a different clinic than I, was bummed that her weight loss is going slowly..even though she was consistently going down in inches. So her coach looked at her beginning stats, took a tape measure and "measured" her using those beginning numbers--for instance, put the tape measure around her chest and showed her how much she had lost by putting the tape measure on the number it was at the beginning. My friend said it was a great visual! I meant to ask for my beginning inches at my WI tonight, but forgot. I think I will next week, though. It helps to remember that it's about more than the number on the scale!

Thanks, that's a great idea for visual motivation. Will try it next time!

Another idea that I never tried but wished I had. Get two jars, one holding the number of marbles or rocks that you will lose in pounds when you've reached goal. After each weigh in, move over the amount you've lost to the second jar. As you progress, you will see the first jar go down and the second jar go up.

Thank you -- I really like this idea.... I just hope I can find enough marbles and jars big enough

I do the jar thing with the marbles/rocks. It really is a good visual. Very motivating!

My clinic has this big glob of plastic, looks like fat. I picked it up the other day and thought it was 10-15lbs, it was only 5. Can't believe it was that much. What were we doing to ourselves???

For me it was being in the grocery store and I picked up 1lb blocks of butter... and then I stacked 20 of them in the cart, just to see what it looks like. (what I've lost so far) and WOW. Visuals really help when the mirror just doesn't seem to.
