Chewing Gum

For the gum chewers out there, what are you chewing? I've been having the Spry which is sweetened with Xylitol. Curious if there was other options. Thanks!

I just chew sugar free gums, my favorites being orbit, extra, and trident.

Only too many carbs pops you out of ketosis. I did Atkins (long before IP) and on Atkins I drank diet soda, chewed sugar free gum, etc, and NEVER fell out of ketosis.

Oh heck no,I love sf gum after dinner. Keeps me from grabbing chocolate or sweets.

Hmm... I found this online and this is basically what my coach told me...

SPRY Xylitol gum. Gum sweetened with Xylitol has the least impact on your blood sugar, which is what makes it OK for the IP dieter.

There is a catch though…………while it is acceptable to chew this gum, you cannot chew it all day every day. Once a day or every other day is acceptable use. Remember that we are trying to minimize the release of insulin from your pancreas in order for you stay in ketosis and keep burning fat. If you chew this gum all the time you will go out of ketosis – not good.

I know that there are other brands of gum made with Xylitol…..if they are sweetened ONLY with Xylitol, then they are probably ok. Trident with Xylitol is not ok.

Thoughts :?:

Interesting...I believe my coach told me no gum, but I can use those listerine breath strips.

I was told only Spry gum also. It's not my favorite, but it will do for now.

I too was told only Spry gum. I've tried it but I'm not a big fan.

sharrow 02-05-2013 08:44 AM

I was also told only Spry gum in moderation and Listerine breath strips (If really necessary).

Katkat 02-05-2013 09:01 AM

Spry gum and Binaca breath freshener is what coach told me. No other sugar free gum as they contain aspartame

Ishbel 02-05-2013 09:27 AM

I chewed Dentyne Fire and Spry...mostly Spry. Two brands I still chew. :)
