I don't think I can do this
:( I am on day 3 and I am still starving. This have never happen to me before on any other low carb diet. I want to be thin but I can't freakin take it
|
:hug:The first week is the absolute worst! I had headaches, muscle cramping,in alot of my muscles where I would keel over, dizziness, vomiting, you name it if it was unpleasant I had it.
Thank goodness I was off work when I started it..cuz my brain was not firing on all cylinders! I napped quiet a bit. Oh yes I was always freezing too! As time went on the majority of my symptoms went away.. I was also going cold turkey from being a major Regular Coke drinker too soo that added to everything. Make sure you drink your water and take your supplements as prescribed. I also take B12, VitaminD,Omega. Give your body a chance to adjust.. I felt like Road Kill the 1ST week and it passed. Good Luck, it will get better,Roo2:carrot::carrot::carrot: |
I heard day 3 & 4 were the worst for a friend of mine, buts he got through it and by day 5 she was feeling better.
GOOD LUCK! Are you eating an extra packet? I know most say to do that if you are so hungry. |
I was super rough week 1 almost bed ridden whole time ate almost a head of lettuce and 5 l of water a day - by day 6 I was so much better now I just get my reg Tom cramps and such
|
You hear everyone tell you the first week is the worst so stick it out and see how you feel next week. The food cravings WILL go away but the "mental stuff" is what we have to work through. Here's the the thing: "If you think you CAN or you think you CAN'T -- either way you're right"
Some of us -- like me -- have a "can-can man" in their signature. Mine is kicking my butt right now, because I'm struggling to stay OP too. It's a struggle. But I'm sticking with it. And one day, those can-can guys will be MY sleek legs, slim 'n sexy, dancin' for joy. |
Day three was the worst for me too. I wanted to knaw on my arm. My coach told me to have an extra packet. That actually worked quite well for me.
Good luck it does get better |

You can do this. And if you find your hubby is NOT being supportive, it's probably because HE is insecure about it all. Just remind him, if he helps you out, he'll be gettin' a sexy thin wife with lots of energy... nudge nudge, wink wink.... He may just chuck that pizza out and join you |

I'm on day 3, too. I have been fantasizing about food all day. Went shopping in another city and drove by all the "fast food places" and actually had to call my DD for a pep talk to NOT stop into a taco place. I chugged some water at that point and got the heck outta dodge. I was playing mind games with myself and had to remove from the situation.
We can do this together. My mantra has been "the first week is the hardest" and the other one that I told myself the day I started was "failure is not an option. :-) |

HOWEVER if you keep moaning about how hard it is, how you want to chew the leg off the couch etc. it will not be that much of an inspiration to him to join you! LOL We are also similar in goals -- I started at 223. We are at a GREAT starting weight. I promise in 20 pounds you WILL be amazed at how thin you look and how many compliments you get. 15 pounds after that and you will be shopping for size 14 and lookin sooooo fine! Stick it out!! |
Congrats on coming here first and not giving up - that's HUGE!!!!
The first week is the hardest, for sure. Your body is making a BIG adjustment, and it won't be without its challenges. There ARE tools you can use to make it easier: - Make sure it is "real" hunger. Thirst can often be hunger in disguise - try drinking more water or a hot drink and wait 20 minutes. If it goes away you were just thirsty! Hunger can also be "mental" and not REAL physical hunger. If the thought of eating a hard boiled egg or a bowl of lettuce doesn't make you want to act on your hunger, you may not ACTUALLY be hungry. -Use and abuse your unlimited lettuce. I have had days where I eat 3 bowls of lettuce to curb hunger. Boston/Butter lettuce, Romaine and Iceberg are UNLIMITED - so load up! - You can have 2 egg whites once per day as a "freebie" - so try making yourself a little egg white omelet. That may be the extra boost you need. - In the first week, you can also add an extra packet or have a hard boiled egg to take the "edge" off while your body adjusts. Use it if you need it. You CAN do this!!! |
Drink more water!!
|
Thank you all so much!! I appreciate your kind words!

it's true the first week is the hardest. Don't let yourself starve, set up a calorie goal and keep to it....I never try to starve myself...if I'm hungry I'll eat (as long as I've been good ;) keep it up you CAN do it. One day at a time.)
|
One thing I did too was if I felt hungry but wasn't sure if it was hunger I popped in some sugar free gum. I am an addict but what's funny is I chew WAY less now on IP than I ever have.
But it helped the first 2 weeks to get me that extra hour to lunch. |
Was it you who posted yesterday that your coach wouldn't let you have restricteds this week so you would lose a lot at first? If so you have not gotten great info from her. You can have the resricted right from day one and you can also have a extra package a day for the first week to make the transition smoother.
Also you can have lots of lettuce and the two egg whites as scorbett suggested. After a few days you go into ketosis and the hunger goes away, Pat |

You will be fine. I promise. And I really want to get to 135 too and started about same weight as you, do this with me. You're going to love it.

 I am feeling very encouraged

We have close to the same stats, believe me....I know how rough the first week can be! Just REMEMBER how miserable you are now...remember if you decide to cheat "just this once" or have a little treat meal "because I deserve it" or "just for vacation/the weekend/it's Tuesday/'insert excuse here'" you have to go through the misery of getting into ketosis All. Over. Again.
Good luck! Stick with it, it is sooooooooo worth it once you reach goal! |

Best wishes to YOU  and a great big  to all who are so incredibly kind on here!!! I am just AMAZED at the "positive vibes" on this forum this time around! :) |

Also you should pack out the packets. When I'm hungry I eat Finn Stevens french toast. It's great with WF pancake syrup.
Plain omelette mix/I use cheese omlette because I can't get plain omelette mix! Add a little water to mix the powder into a paste. Finely grate half a courgette/zucchini, I then pick up the mound of zucchini and squeeze the excess liquid down the drain, add the grated veg to your omelette mix. Add 2 egg whites and beat until all blended. Pour small amounts onto a hot pan and brown each side. You will get 3/4 good sized eggy/pancake pieces. Delicious, has saved me many times. Good luck! |

I don't think I can add to anyone else's comments about the 1st week. It sucks and is a great reminder not to cheat. Who wants to go through that again??
My husband and daughter get pizza every Friday, that is their routine and I wouldn't ask them to change for me. Did the 1st few weeks suck???ABSOLUTELY!!! I went from anger to pity parties to now, 14wks?? later?? Last night was pizza night, the boxes were right next to me while I made scallops and veggies for me. Of course I would have loved to have a piece, but the desire, want, need....was not there. Period. Did it look and smell yummy?? Yes. But so did my scallops and rutabaga fries. Your tastes will change as you go on too. I swear I can't really remember what mashed potatos and FF's taste like, I am so used to my cauliflower and rutabaga so now I crave them. The only person you will be hurting and disappointing is yourself. GL!! |

I had been maintaining since April but am now back on phase 1 because of a very merry December. When I phased off and was in maintenance and out of ketosis I found the habit I had developed of one treat a day with the restricted helped tremendously. I was able to pick something I liked, such as a bit of chocolate and knew that was it. Whatever treat I had planned for and no more. That habit was very ingrained from having my one restricted at the same time everyday for all of the months I was on phase 1. I am like Ninja in that my hard time is when I come in from work. I am so hungry and would just grab whatever was there. But having the restricted and a cup of coffe was great then as I went about preparing our healthy evening meal. I hate when some coaches think they know more than the developers and start jigging the protocol. |
Have a restricted. I look forward to it every day!
