I've been meaning to read your blog, but when I saw kale tabbouleh, I knew I couldn't wait any longer... and then I saw cauliflower hummus! You're a genius... thank you for some great ideas!

Let me know what works for you!

Debra,

You are kind of like my new hero! ;-)

Your website is a amazing! I think we have the same taste buds (love the Tofu stir fry idea as that was once my staple) plus you figured out a way to make “taboulleh”. I literally had that every day (mixed with chickpeas)for lunch before starting this diet last Friday so I was sad that I wasn’t going to get that plus chick peas are a no-no. I actually thought I was getting a lot of protein with that dish. That actually makes me laugh now.

Anyway, I am intrigued by the Kale Massage. I have honestly never used Kale but I am game for almost anything. I am trying it this weekend.

Thanks!!

Ali in Boston

PS Have you tried the "Taboulleh" Recipe that they recommend on the Ideal Protein? It tastes nothing like Taboulleh so I am not even sure why they call it that but I did make it and it was so yummy. I wanted to share it but I assume everyone already knows about that one.

I am down 6 lbs after first WI last night.

Debrasb 01-12-2013 11:18 AM

Thanks so much! Creating recipes and posting them is giving me something good to focus on, and it's really fun. Let me know if you try anything. I don't have that IP tabbouleh recipe so feel free to share.

Todays' Breakfast Ideas

I recived this today from the IDEAL PROTEIN CHANNEL I thought I would pass it on..apologies if you already have them.

BREAKFAST RECIPE IDEAS

Veggie Omelet (Phase 1 Compatible)
Grab some organic celery, scallions, broccoli, and sauté them in a non-stick pan until they are at the desired consistency. When almost done, add some fresh mushrooms. Then add some tomato but don’t cook the tomato too long. When this mixture is done, add some garlic powder, onion powder and then put a little Walden Farms balsamic dressing in it (you can leave this out but it gives it a better flavor.) Then add some raw onions and put the combination aside for now.
Add hot water (10 ounces) to a blender and add the 3 Cheese & Fine Herbs Omelet packet. Add garlic powder (1 tablespoon), onion powder (2 tablespoon), minced onions (3 tablespoons), and baking powder (1 big teaspoon), 1 packet of Splenda and blend for a minute.
Take some spray olive oil and spray a little on a non stick pan and cook it covered on medium heat on one side and then flip it over and cook it on the other side and wow, you’ll have made a huge omelet. Then take the veggies and put them on top of the omelet. Fold it over and enjoy a huge and delicious tasting veggie omelet.

Oatmeal Biscuits (Phase 1 Compatible) (Equivalent to 2 Ideal Protein Diet foods. Yield: approx. 12 biscuits)
Ingredients:
• 2 packets of Ideal Protein Diet Maple Oatmeal
• 1 large egg white
• 1-2 ounces of water
Directions:
Beat egg then stir into oatmeal until mixed thoroughly. Add water to thin batter until spoonable – but not runny. Spoon onto non-stick baking sheet and bake about 10 minutes at 400°F (205°C) or until golden.

Oatmeal Wildberry Muffins (Phase 1 Compatible)
Grease a mini muffin pan with oil and mix 1 pack Ideal Protein Maple Oatmeal with 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder. Add 1 pack of Ideal Protein Wildberry Yogurt, add 1 beaten egg, and add 1/4 cup of water or until muffin consistency mix carefully. Spoon into pan until 3/4 full then bake at 350F until golden brown for about 10 minutes. Eat alone and get bursts of berry in your mouth, or use an Ideal Protein Vanilla Pudding or Ideal Protein jam recipe for a topping. Kids love them especially if they get to help! Cheaper than easy bake oven foods and better for you! Makes 6 small muffins, the whole tray would be 2 protein packets or 3 if you have icing. So, you can eat 2 muffins at a time (if you used 3 packets) or 3 at a time (if you used 2 packets) and it would be one Ideal Protein serving.

Crispy Rice Cereal Pancakes (Phase 1 Compatible)
We tried this suggestion from a viewer. It’s great.
Ingredients:
• 2oz of water
• Cinnamon to taste
• Dash of vanilla
• 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
• 1 egg white
• 1 packet of Ideal Protein Crispy Cereal, crushed with a rolling pin)
Mix it up using a Magic Bullet if you have one, or with a blender. Fry in a non-stick pan with a touch of spray olive oil.
Add Walden Farms maple syrup and enjoy! Makes 2 pancakes

Fantastic!! So glad you liked. FYI I got the sauce at the dollar store of all places. Usually I end up making my own since I don't usually shop there.

Ali Williams posted this in the daily food but I won't find it there so am adding it here - hope she didn't already do that too (thanks for posting the recipes Ali!)

Went to the store yesterday and bought all the ingredients for the cauliflower sip and the curried cauliflower soup.

I am headed to a friends to watch the game and plan to bring the dip and some sliced veggies to enjoy while everyone else eats navhos, wings etc :). i made enough to bring some to work throughout the week as well.

The soup is cooking now! I plan to make the garam masala spiced chicken later this week and serve the soup alongside :)

I really do love your blog as my husband and I also keep a kosher home too. we dont have the same variety as everyone else in terms of the protein. I love these recipes! Please keep them coming!

Debrasb 01-21-2013 10:19 AM

Thank you so much!! I hope you liked everything--let me know how it tasted.

I agree, kosher is a little limiting but there's a lot we can do with chicken and beef :-)

Alohakiwi 01-21-2013 10:35 AM

Tank you! Book marked for sure :)

I've been a little off the recipe blog lately as I have a big work trip later this week. But after dinner last night I couldn't resist!

Here's a delicious way to prepare salmon. Super easy and nearly impossible to overcook and dry out. Perfectly moist every single time.

I chop up some green onions very fine and mix it into the patty mix, along with a good dose of garlic (powder or minced) and black pepper. Make it up really thick, I think just a couple of TBLSP water. Then I make little nuggets in an non-stick frypan.

I make a quick sweet and sour sauce with Splenda and Apple Cider Vin and dip it in there. My daughter tried one and said it tasted like a restaurant egg rolls without the wrapper. I like them a lot. Great for a snack, and if I'm going to be away from home, I put them on the salad I take with me that day.

New recipe today: Frosty-style Milkshake made with Dark Chocolate Pudding packet. Super easy and I love the creamy texture -- reminds me of a Wendy's Frosty, which I have not had in probably 20 years (so I could be remembering completely wrong).

Not really a recipe but I mixed some broccoli puree with the Chicken Ala King Pottage Mix for lunch today. Extremely thick and creamy and really makes the mix go a long way and easier to get the 2 cups of veggies in.

Debra, I've been doing the same as you, blogging about the recipes I make and also my weight loss experience. I find it very enjoyable to share my experience and recipes. Truth be known, it's also my goto for recipes I make over and over.

Love your blog and can't wait to make the meatballs with red pepper sauce!!!! OMG I was looking for a massaged kale recipe last night and here you have it. Thank you.

Thanks so much, and thanks for sharing yours as well. I also use my own blog to look up my own recipes :-)

Please do let me know how you like any of the recipes. The meatballs were so good. My boys asked me to add a little ground lamb in there next time, so we'll see if I do that!

I chose the chicken ala king as my lunch packet, and I HATE IT!!! There is always something crunchy in it and I hate it.

The pieces of vegetable in it are dehydrated so if you don't let it sit and absorb moisture to rehydrate the corn or other things will be crunchy.

I suppose if you were on there sometime last year than it probably did change a bit. It's always a work in progress. :)

I did add a recipe index to help people navigate a little easier through the site for specific recipes based on ingredient or dish.

No training...just playing around for awhile on some blogs and websites. I have fun with it! Truly makes me happy to tinker with it and to help others. I love the emails I get from people who find the blog enjoying, reading my experiences in weight loss, and the recipes for food and body care. I get a lot of joy from it. Would love to do it full-time! Sigh.......

I've been selected to cook Easter dinner. Thinking of doing a ham. Anyone have any IP friendly spiral ham recipes/ideas? The only thing I can come up with is a glaze with WF jelly, which I'm really not a fan of and may not want to put the family through that :)

If nothing else, I can always do my own roast chicken.
