Has anyone done "bootcamp"?

  • Sometimes a stall needs extra calories..add an extra packet or some extra meat...sometimes my calories are just too low for my activity...it is amazing what extra calories will do to kick start things.

Sometimes your body just likes the change...whatever the change is.

  • Has anyone on IP ever tried to do a mostly protein boot camp? Is this even possible?

Not sure what it would look like but probably eggs, lean meats, chicken, fish + lower carb veggies (but still have some veggies, maybe only a cup or 2 a day) and still include a salad? No IP packets, none. Maybe this would last 2 or 3 days...I'm really just wondering about it and if it could be useful.

You're talking about something that is NOT Ideal Protein. IP is designed based on 25 years of research to have the best possible balance of protein, nutrients, carbs and fats. If you went overboard on the protein you can actually do damage to your kidneys and liver, plus you would NOT be nourishing your body with the other essential nutrients we get from both the packets and the veggies.

Now you are starting to talk about what sounds like the Stillman diet, although on that you can't even have the veggies. If you feel the need to do boot camp for some of the previous reasons mentioned I would just suggest the IP boot camp.
  • I never knew about BC. Thanks for the shared information. It's not something I am considering doing right now but always good to know for down the road if necessary!
  • I'm not in maintenance, but I did boot camp because both my weight and my inches stalled. Usually when my weight stalled my inches continued, but not this time. I used 4 or 5 packets a day, 4 cups veggies but made sure they had the least amount of carbs, and the water and supplements as usual. For the 4 days I limited my carbs to under 30 after subtracting fiber. Lost 2 pounds. The metalic taste is back in my mouth like it was when I first started IP. I wonder if the smaller I'm getting the more a few extra carbs is throwing me out of ketosis. I'll go back to regular IP now but I think I'll also keep an eye on the carb count. Now that I'm using MFP it makes it easy to track.
