Effects of ibuprofen?

  • I performed a crazy move over the weekend (bent over in the shower and picked up a bottle of body wash) and felt a horrible twinge in my back. I spent most of the weekend hobbling around and in a chair. I've been taking advil since Saturday morning, and am wondering if anyone has anecdotal advice regarding the effect of taking an anti-inflamatory on this food program. I had continued weight loss over the weekend, but noticed a slight gain this morning. I've been OP except for the water--I was having problems walking down to the kitchen to get water, so yesterday I was significantly under. Today I have a big water bottle, so that problem is solved.

    Thanks!
  • I take it and no issues. My coach told me to take the gel capsules because f the enteric coating on Advil - but honestly - unless you are taking a boatload of them a couple of Advil isn't going to affect your results. If a red pepper is OK, I'm sure a few Advil won't hurt. I take them for occasional (more than occasional lately) back pain.
  • Ibuprofen should have zero effect on your weight losses. If you feel a little bloated, your body will retain a little water weight when it's inflamed - just keep drinking your water and it will eventually go away. And stop weighing every day!
  • I don't poop for a week after taking ibuprofen (ok, maybe TMI) - but that's how it affects me ....
  • Thanks!

Now that I've re-read my post it kind of seems like I'm worried about the weight aspect of this. However, that was kind of more for background. I'm def not one to freak out over some sweetner in the red coating. I'm mostly worried that the advil is slowly killing my kidneys (i think it does that regardless of what I eat but I'm not sure how this diet in particular impacts that). I know that this diet puts additional stress on the system and am a little cautious about introducing new chemicals into my body (I tend to only take advil on a rare occasion).

I'll consider your advice about about the weighing every day thing! I just bought a scale, so it is fun! I'll maybe try not using it over the next week. I'm a data point person. I like lots of data. As soon as a new toy enters my life, however, I'm sure I'll promtply forget about the scale.

    Oh my! Poor you!
  • I had the opposite effect. I stopped taking my ibuprofen and put on two pounds, lol.
