Today is Day 5. I started testing with strips and they come up as "trace." I'm not particularly hungry and I am losing weight. I do have a cold that coincided perfectly with starting this diet.
I've read that those strips often give faulty results. If you feel like you're in ketosis (not hungry much and losing fat), you probably are. This is gross, but I knew I had crossed over when my urine smelt like sulphur on about day 3 and 4 and I started to feel human again.
I had the same thing with my urine! I am still hungry but I have a lot of energy. I stopped worrying abt whether I was or was not in ketosis though. I'm losing weight and that's all that counts for me! I was also able to wear a smaller size jean to work, snug but it zipped fine. last week I couldn't zip it without breaking the zipper. another NSV
Ketone strips test excess ketones in urine. Most ketones are used for energy in the body and brain makes immediate use of ketones for lipid synthesis in the brain. Trace amount of ketones means you are in ketosis.
Don't rely on the ketostix. They can be misleading. If you stick to the plan, you will for sure, enter ketosis.
for me on day 3 i was in ketosis
