DanafromAustin, my son makes beef jerky as often as he can. He uses london broil, so easy to slice into nice thin strips. His favorite marinade is Jack Daniels (no alcohol, lol) for 24-48 hrs. He & his friends love it.

Sometimes I wish I had 2 (but then I would need a bigger kitchen too:?:)

I just finished a batch of zucchini chips spray lightly with Tuscan herb infused olive oil. Omg, they are SOOO delicious. We have a little store that has infused olive oil and balsamic vinegars. They are so yummy. Holding off on the balsamics for now but the oils are scrumptious...even if it is 2 tsp, lol :hun:
Have fun making your jerky, I'm off to finish my tuscan zucchini chips.

Sounds good! I never did pick up some meat today, but my husband was thinking flank stead might be another good meat choice because you also slice it thin. I'll tell him about the London broil too.

Just got back from a very long day with the family, parents and siblings are pretty food oriented and there seemed to be food everywhere. Happy to say both my partner and I stayed on track, trying to explain why we don't want to eat pizza over and over got really old. It will be along time before we head back that way again. No one noticed my wt. loss, but I got a couple of new pieces of clothing from the garage sale in a GREAT size!

Way to go ddpaddler - stick with it and they'll have to notice!

Had to share this here, since many of us are grannies... story about an organization called "100 Grannies," which promotes environmental solutions.

This particular issue is near and dear to my heart. A couple of local environmental issues have me fired up and concerned about the future for my grandsons (3 of them!) and their children and grandchildren...

I'm jealous!!! I want to go to the beach too.:beach:

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday so far. Not much on tap today, other than enjoying this beautiful weather. It finally got cool enough last night that we could open up all the windows. I've missed that fresh air at night.

Now that I've caught up with all of my Ipeeps on the different threads, I'm off to the gym to lift those weights. I have to say my arms are looking pretty good for a fab 50 plus girl whose lost this much weight. Even my coach said the other day while measuring my arm that they look pretty good. Now my neck and legs are a whole different story. Can we say.... flabby? More collagen, more collagen!

Have a good Sunday everyone... :grouphug:

I love that, what a great organization for such a good cause. I know in Austin they are trying to ban plastic bags, and most people here do bring their own bags when shopping. My daughter when in high school did a report on paper vs. plastic bags. Very eye opening for sure. No plastic here whenever possible.

You did great. There will be many situations like this. Each step we take makes us stronger for the next one, although I'm not sure it ever gets "easy."

Our 103-104 weather also broke yesterday. It was much cooler and this week it looks like it might even stay in the mid-90s! I think the cooler weather is on its way - finally! Ah, yes, Dana, you live in Austin, where most people take their own bags to the grocery store. I seem to be the only person in my whole town who does that! The checkers at the store know me and think it's "cute," but I'm committed!

Where is the 30 by Thanksgiving challenge? Is it on a separate thread?

At the rate I seem to be losing, I may or may not make it by Thanksgiving, but definitely by Christmas!

capecodmomma 09-09-2012 12:14 PM

I know what you mean by the recycle bag thing. I'm seeing it more and more all the time. But I'm a fine one to talk. It seems like my bags are always at home when I want them! Still trying to ALWAYS stick them back in the car after I unpack. Jeesh, how hard is that anyway? one of these days it will become a habit. They hold more, you can pack them as you want them and they are easier to schlep out of the car.
I'm up for the 30 by thanksgiving too, ladies. Is there a thread yet? I'll start one if you want! We can do it, look how far we all have come so far!

Looks like you have been dealing with the same weather as us. It's funny having been born and raised in CA, I thought the mid 90's was a heat wave. That has all changed since moving to TX. ;)

I would love to join the 30 by Thanksgiving challenge, but haven't seen one. That means I would hit my goal weight. :goodscale by Thanksgiving :happ3:

Don't feel bad, many times I forget to get them out of my trunk and carry them into the store. How sad is that.

I haven't seen a thread for that challenge. Go ahead and start one. It would be fun even if we all don't make it, just think how much closer we will be by Thanksgiving.

capecodmomma,
Yes a new thread 30lbs by turkey day, I'm all in. I think we should all be able to hit that one:turkey: espcially with all the support we give and get from the 50's gals.

Now I want a dehydrator, so I've started the process of begging my husband, I'm pretty sure he will cave soon. For those of you w one, umm like Dana I just wonder how often you really use it? And your favorite foods to use.

And now I would like to wish everyone a great up coming week :belly: My coach gave me a few reminders I'll share w you all . :yoga:

Remember to breathe
Remember to hydrate
Remember to measure
Remember to enjoy
And Remember to have FUN!!!! :yay:

DanafromAustin 09-09-2012 07:02 PM

I'm the new kid on the block in terms of the dehydrator, so I'm looking for the same ideas you are. :D

it was a positively perfect day!!!
the waves were pretty rough....but it was a blast!!

i had a very emotional moment....when we were packing to leave...
and had a lot to carry...and i had my towel over my shoulder...
because thats the way i have carried it forever... for a specific reason...
but i had several tote bags and my chair also on my shoulders...
so in the end....i sat everything down and wrapped
the towel around my waist....and it fit!! i actually tied my towel
around my waist for the first time in maybe 25 years. my battery was
dead in my camera by that point... but i will take another photo
one day because that is EPIC TO ME!!!

I HAD A FABULOUS DAY!!!!!!!!!!
