Vet, tell your dd that I'm sorry for that. Tell her that, that is what happens to your mind when you begin to get older, it begins to go....... I noticed that I did it again this morning and had to correct it. If I hadn't read your post, I wouldn't even noticed it.

Good Morning IPeeps:

Even tho that I come here and start the daily chat, it has been awhile since I have actually posted or been on here to read and catch up with everyone.

As some of you know I have been dealing with the plateu for 2 1/2 months so 2 weeks ago, I consulted with my lovely coach "Wuv" to see what I needed to do. She suggested that I do phase 3 to shock my system. So I did and today I begin Phase 1 again. It was really hard eating all that food for breakfast. I did so enjoy having yogurt and berries, pancakes and pork chops, omlets and andoui sausage, and toast with almond butter. But you know, I realized that I didn't miss some of the foods as much as I thought I was. I could do without the bread, it really was no big deal eating it. NOW, the pancakes on the other hand, I have to say that they were delicious, but I would not beable to eat more than one without getting sick.

I am looking forward to starting back to the basics. Maybe this worked and I can finish losing my last 11 pounds, plus the 4 1/2 that I gained in the past two weeks. I know that the 4 1/2 is not really "fat weight". Keeping my fingers crossed.......

I've skimmed thru some of the posts, and I see that we have some more newbies, WELCOME everyone. I have missed everyone here, I didn't realize how much I depend on everyone here.

Good morning all

GOOD LUCK Riss. I bet your system had just gotten super efficient!

My WI was yesterday & I was down 3. I wasn't a fast loser on Atkins & my body isn't wanting to drop it fast on IP either but it is enough to keep me going for sure. I'm down 12.2 in 3 weeks. For my age & activity level, I'm happy.

I'm so glad to have my May foot surgery behind me. It still swells up if I overdo but I can be on my feet more and more every day

Yesterday I was so motivated after my WI, not only did I forgo my restricted packet, I almost forgot my 3rd packet. I got it in, just a tad late.

Alarm just went off. Time to make the donuts (remember that guy?)

Just a question for those who have done Atkins --is there much difference in the weight loss you see between IP and Atkins? My mom is on Atkins and has lost the same amount as I have but without the cost (and gets to have cream in her coffee! LOL)... In the long run, her wayseems like it will be cheaper. Anyone have any input on why you prefer IP over Atkins?

From what I have seen in my own experience and in those who have done Atkins, the IP diet is healthier and easier on your body, and the success rate of maintaining your weight loss is greater after IP. I've yet to hear of anyone with major health complications after IP, but I know 2 people personally that had gall bladder issues (one had to have hers removed) due to the high fat allowance on Atkins. IP is not just low carb/high protein, but also low fat, and it's administered by health professionals who can monitor your overall health or let you know if you are too high risk for the diet.

Good Morning Riss - had to chuckle at the paragraph starting at.... It was really hard eating all that food for breakfast. Looking at your stats you have done fantastic!

Lisa - an 8.2 lb. loss on your first weigh in followed by another 3 - Girl you've lost over 12 lbs in just 2 weeks. That's amazing. I can relate to foot problems (dealing with torn achilles and in a boot cast) which is what I like about stating this diet - no exercise initially.

IP43 - I've done Atkins in the past and was reallly ill on it and lost a lot of muscle and could not stick with it. Sounds like your Mom is doing Ok though so go figure?

Hope everybody has a great day!

NJK

Ah Riss. Just fooling. I know my auto complete gets me a lot!

So I need some new goals.

Under 300#'s by Halloween.

270 by my birthday, January 4th. A 200# loss for my birthday would be a nice present.

There I said it. Now to make it happen.

I picked those dates so I could remember them easily and because I think they're realistic.

I have my first WI and measure at 11am......I'm so excited! I did get super dizzy yesterday, it was a different dizzy too not just light headed. Happily it passed but I wasn't up to snuff most of the night. I felt better when I ate pickles and a little salt.

I'm taking my son to see my BFF for the night who i'm concerned is going to be like 'dude why are you doing this'. Uh well i'm really over weight and needed to change. But I know she will be critical, but I only really have to get through 2 meals with her. (Dinner, i emailed about having salad and fish or meat and i packed veggies!) and then breakfast.

Good luck today!!! Glad you're feeling better, I'm in week 4 and this is the first week I haven't had one day of dizziness/fuzziness.

You will do great with your friend. Criticism tends to come from lack of understanding with this diet. It's healthy, balanced, and yes the weight comes off fast but they don't leave you in the lurch once the first phase is done. You learn how to make good, long term low carb choices that will help you be around longer for your family and have better quality of life. If it gets bad, just smile and thank her for caring about you

IP seems to be much healthier than Atkins...mainly due to the lower fat content. I worked with a guy who did Atkins and he would he an entire package of hot dogs for lunch, yuck! All that sodium and fat couldn't have been good for him. Plus, IMO, IP teaches you how to eat for life. If the cost is an issue---as it got to be for me---you can always give the alternatives a try. I went from paying $28 for a box with 7 packets to paying $8 - $11 depending upon what brand and what item. I really think IP could keep more customers for a longer term and not loose any $$ if they dropped their prices. Anyway, that is getting off track.

Good morning all. I was looking through the Alternative Thread. I am so overwhelmed. I don't like research (sad because I was a chemistry major). I need to add a variety of food to keep my DH happy Have a great day.

Agreed - I did invest in a lot of IP products when I started, but since reading this forum I've been adding in alternatives and will eventually transition off IP products as much as possible. The one thing I've noticed is that most alternative packaged foods are 15g of protein each, while IP products seem to run 17g or more. I watch my protein intake and if I'm using a lot of alternatives I make sure to have a HB egg that day to round out the difference.

I have done both; as soon as I started to re-introduce a small amount of carbs on Atkins I would gain it back but with IP, I seem to be able to maintain the weightloss when I take a break. Also my cholesterol and BP came down with IP and did not with Atkins.

I do the same thing with the HB egg and I have really gotten to wear I look forward to it---it's like a treat to me. I also swap out the HB egg with some egg whites, trying to watch my cholesterol.

Rissimo: Good luck with phase 1. I bet that is exactly what your body needed.

Aimiloo: Come back with those amazing results.

Good morning everyone. I am starting my second week OP. So far so good. However, I will need to look up some recipes because I am already tired of my menu: cereal pancakes, mug cakes, puddings, jellos... I need more variety.

Enjoy your day!
