Edit: I didnt look at the nutritional content, I just wanted to share since I know some of you were looking for them
  • Um Steph...those are Kale Chips..check your link...did you post it wrong?
  • Oh lol..in your title it says "looking for kale chips" and then in your post it says you found "okra chips" in five flavours...lol..Think you had okra on the brain at some point tonight
  • I saw some packaged kale chips in a local store. The calorie and carb counts were very high.

These ones don't give actual numbers but i notice in the list of ingredients it says "cane juice". I would translate that to sugar (maybe wrong0 and that would really up both cals and carbs.
i was excited when I saw the packages in the store but amazed when I read what they had managed to do to a healthy food.
These may be totally different; maybe the nutionional #s are on there somewhere and I just can't find them.

  • Port: I must have had okra on the brain! lol Sorry about that

Pat: I did take a picture of the back of the package and have only just had the chance to look at it. It does have evaporated cane juice in it (I'm not even sure what that is).
Here is the nutrition I have from the picture I took:
    Serving size 1 ounce
    Calories 160
    Total Fat 7g
    Saturated Fat .5g
    Sodium 190mg
    Total Carbs 13g
    Dietary Fiber 3g
    Sugars 2g
    Protien 6g

You're right, they do seem to have added stuff they didnt need to. But in a pinch if you are away from home and having a hard time getting all of your veggies in this could still be one to use.

I use an app on my phone called Lose It and I entered in a 'recipe' for kale chips. I used 4 cups kale and 1tsp of olive oil (probably way over on that, no idea I havent made them before) and it came out to 220 calories per 2 cup serving. I was surprised to see that there is 4g of fat in 2 cups of kale and so many carbs! It is a viable alternative, just not to be used all the time. Just that cane juice in phase 1, I'm gonna have to research that one.

Definitely going to look at them more closely the next time im at the store

Those readings are way better than the ones I saw. i would have bought those.
  • I am thinking that I might have to now. :P If nothing else I need to give you all a review on the flavor! I havent tried making the kale chips yet, but there is a bunch coming ready in the garden (too much for me to use all of it) so I am going to then.
