Smile Specifics on shrimp IP style...

First, still in ketosis! Newbie, so I am a Purist to be safe... Just got off work at 0730. Went shopping for food at Walmart and I just wanted to die! Stomach was doing somersaults!

Came across the shrimp and thought, "Hey, it is allowed!". So by the current IP protocol I can have 8 yummy ounces of shrimp right (for dinner)?

If so, cooking it in a little Pam or olive oil with garlic, sea salt, lemon juice, dash of Mrs Dash would be okay?

Surf n' Turf? 4oz steak and 4oz Shrimp good? I can't wait for dinner!!!

Boo! No potato, no rice pilaf, Booo!!!

Course two cups of vegetables and all the lettuce I can manage (ugh!)...
Thoughts? Want to stay pure in Frederick, MD...

I love potatoes, but if you boil cauliflower and garlic and mash it with your 1 oz of milk (or cream as it has no carbs) it maked a pretty good substitute!

A little grilled asparagus with sea salt and your surf n turf is perfect!

Sounds good!

I've made garlic shrimp myself on the plan according to this recipe that was delicious. I made it without the butter and caper brine though, & with less oil and lemon juice: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Simple-Garlic-Shrimp/Detail.aspx?src=VD_Summary

Tonight I made a cajun seafood dish with a similar method but I used Cajun's Choice blackened seasoning instead of the parsley and red pepper, and grapeseed oil instead of the olive oil. I made it with shrimp, scallops, and crabmeat. It was incredible!!

I make "fried rice" with cauliflower. Sauté a garlic clove in 1-2 teaspoon olive oil, add veggies like mushrooms, asparagus, spinach, and a cup of mashed cooked cauliflower. (total of 2 cups of veggies ). Sauté it all up. add lemon zest if you like, and top it off with soy sauce. Add a tablespoon of sliced green onion on the top... Had this for dinner tonight. My husband loves iT, and he is in no need of IP!

Have you tried making cauliflower "rice"? I ran the raw cauliflower through my food processor's grater blade (or use old fashioned elbow grease and a grater). The particles will be roughly rice-sized. Put in a bowl and microwave on high in a covered dish for about 6 minutes. Don't add water, there's plenty in the cauliflower that will get released. My microwave is a little weak, so after 6 min I stirred, and then heated in 1 minute increments until the particles were soft enough for my taste. I seasoned with some fresh herbs and sea salt!

Veggies! Yes!

I have changed my mind about how I create a meal. I make the veggies the main focus instead of the meat. So I create a wonderful veggie dish, and add my meat, usually chicken, cut up and mixed in.

I'm with Rainbow on this one. Have no fear, once you go through carb-detox and start seeing results, you will NOT miss the potato or rice. I promise.

I'm with you THX1138. I am new and totally a purist. I plan to stay that way because I know myself, one cheat begets another and another. Why mess with great thing? A wonderful thing that I have been enjoying is grilled asparagus. I peel them, then use my allowed olive oil to brush on them, use some salt and pepper, and grill them. I think it's wonderful. Just a thought!
