So excited and shocked -week 1

I just completed my first week on IP!!!
I knew i had lost weight but according to the coach's scale it was 11 pounds. But i was surprised to have lost 7 inches as well:woohoo: (Had to find a character that moved besides a carrot and a banana, which we cannot eat). I did continue to play tennis my first week so that may have contributed to thebig start

I realize that i will not sustain the big start but just wanted to share my news. I am soo glad some friends who are also doing IP with me told me about the IP forum on this website.
I am enjoying reading everyones contributions. - t

Awesome job!!! I was shocked too when my coach told me I lost 10 lbs at my weigh in yesterday. No inches, but I think that's because the inches came off of areas she wasn't measuring (particularly right across my bellybutton - she measured hips & waist but not the inbetween!). That's amazing that you were able to keep playing tennis, I was definitely feeling low on gas the first four days. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Scorbett. You did great as well. Keep it up!

Wow, those are great starts for both of you. I was thrilled when my first week loss was 6 pounds. Since then I have averaged 2.5 - 3 lbs a week.

Great Start. Be carefull in the heat you can get dehydrated really quick when you start.

austintacious 08-02-2012 09:30 AM

I've focused on drinking lots of water daily, between 80-100 ounces of plain water (excluding water for IP drinks, iced tea, and sport hydration). My coach said my water intake had improved from the first week (still not sure how that scale measured it though). Tennis has been after 7pm on weekdays and on the weekend mornings to try to beat this TX heat.

If you use the body composition scale it measures you hydration levels. You want them to be high as muscle holds more water than fat.

I never stopped exercising when I started ip, but I did find if I worked out too intensely (ie more than 2 hours every day) my losses slowed. Other hormones come into play and can impact ketosis.

Great start! Keep at it!

Congratulations! I don't know how you play tennis even after 7pm. It's too hot for me! I've taken time off from golf, which is nowhere near as athletic, until it cools off.

Great Job! I love the big numbers. My 2nd week was not a happy one, but week 3 made up for it. My coach is gone for week 4, and I'm not seeing my scale move. I really need that person to account to every week I think. So you guys are gonna have to be my motivation too.
Tonight I made Banana cookies with Banana pudding and a crepe packet, 1 egg white, torani sugar free french vanilla, 1/2 tsp baking soda, a pinch of sea salt and enough water to make it look like cookie dough. So So good. My husband and I are both on and we like that something sweet in the evening. This did the trick.
