Numbness in upper lip?

  • Thought I would ask the experts on here. The last couple weeks I have noticed a tingling, numbness on my upper lip on the left side. It comes and goes and it's not real noticable. I don't have any other symptoms and have been feeling good. I walk at least 2 miles a day. I have tried googling it but not much success. Vitamin deficiency is one thing I found. I asked my coach, a Chiropractor and she was stumped but was going to look into it. Thanks
  • I had some mouth issues lately (while in ph.1 doing alternatives) I had little painful bumps on one side of my tongue and my lips were itchy. This persisted for about 2 days. I hadn't eaten anything new that would trigger an allergic reaction. Internet searches kept saying "poor diet" and "vitamin decency" although I take my vitamins religiously. Many suggested having yogurt to help balance the good bacteria. That actually helped clear it up. It's not allowed on IP but at that point I could care less, I just wanted to feel better, and I do!
  • I had that for awhile, too. I had no idea what caused it! It went away after a couple of days, and I'm glad it did.
  • I get this when I drink MiO or the store brands of MiO also, although it is more my face in general than my lip. Are you using MiO? At first I thought I'd had too much caffeine!
  • Thanks, Locopollo but no I don't use Mio. I stick to plain water and I haven't had any caffeine since I started the diet. It still comes and goes and I can't see any pattern.

Meagan, how long did yours last?
  • Only a couple of days, I don't think I was doing anything different then compared to now, though. :/

I don't think it's caffeine. I think it's artificial sweeteners. I drink tea and nothing happens. Most of my IP packets are savory, not sweet. But when I use MiO, I definitely get numbness and tingling.

I used to drink Coke Zero until I figured out it was making my joints ache. It took me almost a year to figure out that was what was causing it. I guess it was the acesulfame potassium. I seem to be ok with it in small quantities only.

    Anyway, you're not alone!
  • Thanks Loco, i'll research artificial sweeteners.
