Good Morning everyone,
I'm off to my WI - but with TOM and the big C this week - not feeling hopeful - oh well - still OP 100% - that's all I can ask of myself - hope you all have a GREAT weekend!
I had my weigh in today. I lost 1.8 more pounds. I seem to have a pattern of a week with a one pond loss and then a week with a three pound loss. Good luck this week everyone!
Good morning from KY! Today is my 6th day on IP. I still find this diet somewhat difficult to follow as it's so restrictive. I'm also having trouble deciding what things to cook for dinner. I am already burnt out on chicken and I don't eat fish or seafood. In addition, I've had a headache/migraine every single day. Granted it's TOM for me and I get headaches usually at that time but not every day. Regardless, I've not cheated at all. I'm weighing in for the first time Monday and I'm nervous-wondering if TOM will effect weight. I guess I'm just needing encouragement, advice, etc. Thanks everyone
Good morning IP'ers! I hear thunder rolling outside again today, so it looks like I will be stuck doing inside chores - again! Thank goodness I bought groceries yesterday. I will just use today to cook a lot of veggies and store them in the freezer in serving-size containers. Maybe pull the BBQ pit up under the patio and grill a lot of meat for the upcoming week.
I hope everyone has a great weekend and stays 100% OP!

Thank you, I needed to hear this. I keep trying to control the scale, but all I can control is my eating. I've been 100% except for one day in the last 7 weeks, and that one day was an extra restricted. Last week I had a crazy-low I couldn't believe it weigh in. Not surprisingly it really was too low and despite being 100% my scales show a 3 pound GAIN since then. I've been beating my self up over gaining but after reading your post I realize I was asking too much of myself. I can only control my actions, not the scale.

No reason to stick to chicken. Have a BBQ and make steak. Make tacos with no cheese using lettuce as the shell, Make Big Mac in a bowl, Sir "fry" your chicken and vegetables. Have a pork chop or some ham. Make a vegie filled omelette or fajitas. There are so many options. In addition to the options of things you already know you'll like, give some fish or seafood a try. IP is all about learning NEW eating habits and you may be surprised what you like once you have rid yourself from all the high fat, high carb foods that you (WE) have been living on.
The same goes for veg. Who knew that I loved yellow summer squash, romain lettuce, napa cabbage, and cauliflower so much. I never would have guessed before IP.

I think the diet feels more restrictive in the beginning, before you have really started experimenting. In the beginning, the only thing I could focus on was what I couldn't have, couldn't do. As I learned the ropes, a whole new world opened up to me! I really love the way I eat now.
I see myself cooking phase 1 dinners forever. Last night, I sauteed rutabagas, mushrooms, leeks and green bell peppers, then threw in cut up bits of filet mignon. Oh my, it was so delicious. The worst part of it was that my toddler kept stealing my steak and rutabagas!
My experience at the beginning was different than many others. I had a headache that lasted to day 10. Oy. That stunk. But now, I get fewer headaches than ever. Sometimes all the veggie prep seems like a lot of work, but later you won't think a thing of it. I vary between simple veggies (sliced cukes or celery sticks) and more complicated ones (cauliflower breadsticks).
Don't be afraid of beef! Flank steak is delicous. Every now and then I buy some filet mignon, too. Wow, is it fantastic. Also, pork tenderloin is quick and flavorful.
Take the time to really peruse the recipe threads. It helps with both packet cookin' and dinner.
Sorry this is kind of random! I haven't had my coffee yet!

The first week is the hardest. Make sure you are getting all your salt in. Helps with the headaches. You can also have steak or other kinds of beef as long as it doesn't have an "illegal" sauce on it. It gets easier after the first week and the consistent weight losses each week keep you motivated! Don't be nervous about weigh-in. I predict you will lose weight, but if because of TOM you don't, next week's weigh-in will be amazing!!

It definitely gets better, and just remember it will be TOTALLY worth it!
It gets better if you stick with it the first couple of weeks once you get into a routine! Once you establish, then you open a whole new door to many food opportunities!!!
The dieter's forecast of the day: Rainy with a 100% chance of losing 3.0 pounds!!!!!! Woohoo...Finally got a new scale and lost 3.0 in week 6...how awesome is that!!

I look forward to one every week as a way of celebrating being OP

Well, you know what's going on, and you know it is temporary and next week will make up for it...good luck with the "C", and with WI!

I could have written this post! This is a great summary of how your eating can "evolve" on this diet, I also have completely expanded my menu and see these options becoming a permanent part of my families meals, and not just because they are healthy but more importantly because they are DELICIOUS!
