  • On my hand out sheet "How Your Body May Initally Respond" - it says NEVER recommend a fiber supplement such as sugar free Metamucil for a person with C, it will make the problem worse. Fiber supplements may be helpful in maintaining regularity but should never be used as a treatment for C. If the Novi-Lax doesn't work they recommend Magnesia citrate.
  • I was using Benefiber, which was working well, but it has disappeared off the store shelves. Supposedly some plant shut down. I am in the process of seeking out a new brand, but hate the thought of my body becoming dependent on something. I never had these issues in the past.

Ugh! Thanks for the info. The citrate doesn't do anything for me though!
  • When I was doing Atkins, at the beginning of phase 1, I had to take Milk of Magnesia 2tbsp at bedtime (Magnesium hydroxide). You might have to take 4 tbsp..... Warning be near a toilet at all times when taking MOM
  • The novilax stopped working for me as well. I found that when I switched my meat to tempeh or boca-burgers that I started "going" again. Some tempeh has only 1 net carb per serving and 11g of fiber. Chicken and other meats have no fiber. I'm sorry to hear you are in such misery! It's horrible and I hope you find something that can help
  • Me in my googlness - link about constipation and some remedies. As always, check with your coach before trying any of these:

  • Quote: I have big C problems where floralax and novilax don't help anymore. The dieters tea helps but since i have IBS, lets just say its not compatible. I remember pre kids, i had huge C problems too where suppositories and dr. prescribed enamas didn't work eirher.

The only thing that worked was metamucil. So i was wondering if i could use it. Its 20calories but it does have 5g carbs but 3g fiber. I would not use restricted to make up for the extra carbs.

Since wed. I haven't taken anything to help and this morning being my 3rd day not going, tried a suppository with very little success. I'm desperate to find a solution.
please try a tablespoon of ground golden flax mixed in your shakes every morning, I swear by it, even Atkins in his book recommended it and he said the carbs are neglible because the fibre makes up for it
