Default Gallstones?

Has anyone ever experienced gallstones or a gallbladder attack since starting IP? My husband has lost 27 pounds in the first month and he had what we're pretty sure is a gallbladder attack Monday and again this morning.

Some of the risk factors for gallstones are rapid weight loss, low calorie diets, low fat diets and other things like being overweight and over 40 (he's 41). He saw the doctor yesterday but forgot to mention Monday's attack.

Doing some research online I see that a liver cleanse is one way of treating the issue without surgery (which we'd both like him to avoid, as you can imagine) but there are also warnings that a liver cleanse is not a good idea if you're having attacks. Any advice and/or personal experience would be appreciated.

I did. I had never had any issues with my gallbladder before, but about 6 weeks into phase 1 I started having aweful pains in my upper stomach. I went to the doctors and they gave me an ultrasound and found out I had gall "sludge" which is similar to gallstones.

I was told that often times diets that are low on fat can upset the gallbladder. I did some research online a found a cleanse that helps remove gall "sludge". Basically I took a shot of olive oil followed by a shot of lemon juice right before going to bed. After a few days all my symptoms disappeared (luckily!) and never returned.

Good luck! Hope he feels better soon.

Thank you. I'll mention that to him - seems like the olive oil and lemon juice thing, while not very tasty, can't be too harmful either, so it's worth a try.

I was doing Slimfast for a while about 6 years back, and when I went back to my normal eating I ended up with gallstones. I had my gallbladder out. Abdominal surgery is bad, painful.

I do know someone who is living with them, I'm not sure what she is doing.
