Since I started IP-things that have changed for you

Since I started IP-- I have started enjoying my coffee with 1oz skim milk which is amazing if you could see how much liquid flavor creamer I used to use.

I have been able to spend time doing nothing (at night) and not run for food. how about everyone else what are you since starting IPs?

Kellym1021 04-12-2012 08:26 AM

I find myself keeping busy with organizing things, like closets, and drawers! Something I always wanted to 'get to' but never made time to do it! Now that I am NOT focused so much on food, I try to do at least one thing each day after work!
:D

usmcvet 04-12-2012 08:29 AM

The swelling in my legs and feet is gone. I can actually see the veins in my feet. It feels soo good. I did not realize how much sodium I was eating every day!

sandralosingweight 04-12-2012 08:55 AM

That's an amazing thread :)

Since I started IP, I noticed I have less acne.

Since I started IP, even though I fell out of the wagon for some periods of time, I managed not to gain back all the weight that I lost (like I used to do with all previous diets).

Since I started IP, I found myself not able to ''pig out'' as much as I was able before, God! I was unstoppable, whereas now, some time I eat more than I am supposed to, but I never overdo it as much as I used to.

IP Rocks !

That's what I have been doing as well. I cleaned almost every kitchen cabinet yesterday! I have so much energy I can't just sit around. I just had a knee replacement a few months ago so this is great being able to catch up on neglected things!

usmcvet 04-12-2012 09:56 AM

I forgot to mention increased energy and just feeling better. Once I kicked the carbs I felt better and my blood sugar is more stable. I don't test it but I can just tell, it's nice and steady.

Ducksmy 04-12-2012 09:57 AM

The creamer thing is what surprized me as well. Now I just drink it black.....

Hi Sandra,

I had the same experience I was on IP last year July to Sept and lost 27 pounds I was off until March and I didn't gain any of it back that has never happened I am always on an upward journey since I was about 9. I really believe this program reset my panaceas or something :D

Kellym1021 04-12-2012 10:02 AM

I love the increased energy and my head feels a lot 'clearer' if that makes any sense??

Also in Nov I had bloodwork done and my doc said that my cholesterol triglycerides were at 200, which I guess is borderline high. I went back for a recheck last week and they went down to 90!! I know it has to do with my new way of eating and this diet!! My doctor is very happy with me ;):D

Now to just increase my HDL.. hmmm :)

Tripmama 04-12-2012 10:02 AM

I play volleyball again and am looking forward to riding horses again. Also, I am zipping pants I haven't been able to zip for awhile. Yay IP!

LizRR 04-12-2012 10:23 AM

IP has made me a better mommy!

Since I started IP I have taken my son to the park EVERY DAY. I used to come home after picking him up and be too tired to go out with him and eat 2 bowls of cereal instead about 4 days a week.

Now I come home, have my rhubarb + raspberry jelly and we are off! He loves it and it is such a joy to watch him explore and play. Plus the roundtrip leisure walk can be 1.5mi, 2mi, or 2.7mi depending on my time crunch. I used to be bored by the walking, but it has turned into the highlight of my day and it kills my afternoon hungries.

When I told my doctor 3 weeks ago that I started this diet she imediatly orded a bunch of blood work the next day because she said that way we can see the progress of how the diet is afecting my body.

I've lost 25 pounds on this, from 195 to 170. I thought this is where I wanted to be, but now am looking to lose 10 more pounds. I no longer put the heavy, sugary-sweet flavoring in my coffee, just skim milk and a touch of natural sugar. I rarely feel the need to snack at night anymore, and if I do, it's an apple or an IP bar. I hike like I used to, but not dragging that extra weight around makes it almost easy. I'm thinking I'll do Phase 2 for a month and that should help me lose a little more.

hyrysk 04-12-2012 11:57 AM

I have been able to work outside on the yard.(5 acres) I forgot how much fun I use to have on the tractor. I think the horses are glad to see me too.

Cole3 04-12-2012 12:16 PM

I am LIKING healthy foods which is amazing to me ... I used to force down salads here and there. Now I LOVE my salads. Same with water - I was a huge diet coke drinker (like at least 6 a day) and for the first few days of this drinking all the water killed me but after just over a week the water actually tastes good. I am getting all my water in without any problem. Didn't see that coming :)

momof2greatcats 04-12-2012 01:22 PM

Fewer migraines!!
I saw my neurologist this week after being on IP for a month - my migraine frequency has dramatically reduced - so he's lowering my dose of my daily preventative med!

I have every hope this is the beginning of getting off many of the medications I take!!!

I feel better overall - just a general sense of wellbeing.

Andie0606 04-12-2012 02:32 PM

Well, I don't drink wine after work any more. The best thing is that I don't miss it, either!:)

Shepard N7 04-12-2012 02:49 PM

-Before IP, I couldn't stand artificial sweeteners. Now, I enjoy the occasional glass of water flavored with Mio and love the WF pancake syrup with my crepes.

-I no longer forget to take my daily supplements.

-Getting in all my water is not only easy, it's something I crave.

IPdivajen 04-12-2012 03:52 PM

What's changed?

I no longer need insulin. Yup, 10 days in and I was off of it.

I can no longer wear any of my current bras or pants. It's just embarrassing!

The last flight I took didn't require a seat belt extender.

I wore a dress for a work event today that I haven't worn in years because it didn't fit and I've gotten so many compliments I have no clue how to handle them.

I have energy.

TOM returned after an almost two year absence.

My scale read less than 300lbs for the first time in maybe more than 2 decades - I honestly don't know.

My blood pressure is better than normal.

I'm well on my way to feeling like a million bucks.

Sewmam 04-12-2012 05:19 PM

Since I started IP, and am in the beginning of Phase 4...I have found hope in a future. When I was so heavy, I could not do anything about it because I have chronic fatigue. I knew what I needed to do, exercise, but I simply could not do it, and my brain was so foggy that I couldn't 'think' my way out of it either. I was a heart attack waiting to happen and felt utterly defeated.

This program has saved my life. Not to be too melodramatic... :) but I am so grateful to be alive and feeling svelte and enjoying cooking again and wanting to eat more and more vegetables! I will never, ever go back!

PEIslandGirl 04-12-2012 05:27 PM

my confidence is back, for the past 8 years I have been putting my life on hold, telling myself I would wait to do that, buy that or go there "until" I lost the weight. No more I am coming out of my shell and not hiding anymore.

Sewmam-I don't think you are melodramatic at all obesity makes our lives shorter and usually have several health complications. One of my driving factor for doing this I don't want the best years of my life to be over and have my health decline. I see you on the boards everyday and you are an inspiration I think that staying connected is going to help make sure that you never have to go back if you think you are headed the wrong way you have a huge support system to help

Thanks Pookie! As my dear old dad would say, 'you're a good egg!' ;)

artflunky 04-12-2012 07:54 PM

I know that some have issues with hair loss but since I've started, I've had the total opposit. I used to drag my toe across the drain at the end of the shower to clean out my hair and come up with a small animal. Now there's virtually nothing!

I am too, I used to add extra cream for the taste and because it was too hot for me. Now I just add some water. Only thing is ya have to make sure it's good coffee when it's black.

That totally makes sense and I agree. I have the same feeling and I don't get the big cravings. I think it's because my blood sugar is more stable. All those carbs used to make it shoot up and down.

No more Insulin, that is freaking awesome.

I look forward to my next flight, hopefully I won't need the extender either. We are flying to St. Martin in Feb of 2013. Sounds like a new goal for me.

usmcvet 04-13-2012 08:46 AM

I was listening to music while taking a shower and danced through two songs smiling the whole time. It was fun. My legs and feet feel so much better now. I did not realize how uncomfortable I was. I used to try to get off my feet as quickly as possible. Also no more persistent shallow cough.

Iwanttolose 04-13-2012 09:31 AM

Since I started IP, I've lost 15 pounds in 3 weeks. I have more energy, and I'm getting into a good daily routine, which I've never had before. I'm enjoying watching my pants get looser and looser. And I'm starting to like my body.

As I was gaining weight (it's pretty much been all up since I was 12), I never really noticed the weight going on. Every day I was just a tiny bit bigger then the last and then one day I'd look in the mirror and realize I was suddenly so much fatter. I hated myself every time. At 160 I felt fat and wished I was 140, at 180 I felt fat and wished I was 160, and at 200 and felt disgusting and huge. I wish I had realized that at 160 I was pretty, and maybe I would have maintained that weight if I hadn't been so negative and hard on myself.

Now on the way down (from 235 at the end of my pregnancy) I feel good every step of the way. I can't wait to get to 140, but I'm so happy at 195 too. I still can't see the change in weight from day to day, but I'm paying attention to how my clothes fit, and I'm reminding myself to be happy with any loss I get.

GramEGail 04-13-2012 10:09 AM

I quit drinking diet coke for energy and now I seem to have a natural energy and quit chewing gum which I chomped on constantly!

Ng951 04-13-2012 10:45 AM

I like who I am today. I also like who I see in the mirror and I am showing up for life today. Thank you everyone. This website is my medicine every morning :). Nancy from the Cape

marci3230 04-13-2012 12:46 PM

I no longer get heartburn. I feel good about myself. Before I used to worry that I wouldn't fit into my pants. Now I the only thing I worry about is if I will still fit into them. I am wearing clothes I haven't worn in years!! I used to always save my clothes, including the larger sizes, but I am not giving them away because I do not plan on going back to where I was before.

GloverParker 04-13-2012 12:55 PM

The mirror has become my friend instead of my enemy. And I like clothes again!

Momto2cs 04-13-2012 12:55 PM

My migraines also pretty much disappeared, even during Tom.
My eczema has vastly improved.
I look better at 40 than I did at 30!
And I am still amazed that I continue to lose inches, even though I am not really losing pounds anymore.

BusChick188 04-13-2012 01:54 PM

Hello and Thanks

I'm a newbie, just registered today. I have my first appointment in a few days to begin a program, and I just wanted to say thanks for posting all your thoughts and ideas. It's great motivation just knowing there are others who have blazed the trail !!

mlucas 04-13-2012 04:28 PM

BACK PAIN!!! No more, well I should say slim to none! Which is huge for me. I was in a major car accident and have suffered ever since. It knocked my spine 2inches to the left! And my back is like a knot grave yard! lol But dont get me wrong I still have pain, but I dont wake up with back pain anymore in the middle of the night, or from sitting or standing.. The inflamation has gone down dramaticly. I love it. Especially since i'm allergic to perscription and over the counter pain and inflamation medication like tylonal, ib, or asprin, so it's great that it's one less pain that i have to just "deal with"

lynzenbocker 04-13-2012 05:06 PM

since i started IP the fat on my stomach and thighs which are areas i could never loose before started disappearing! i have a "flat" stomach for the first time ever!

CkM 04-19-2012 12:41 PM

I am starting next week! I look forward to being an active member on this forum and of course utilizing the great ideas on here!

Sewmam 04-19-2012 01:14 PM

I stand up straighter without the belly pulling me down, and the hump I used to have on my back, right below the neck, has gone. I started wearing belts again! They come in handy when I'm wearing an older pair of pants that are too baggy, keeps them from falling off. ;)
