being 100% (am I?)

Good Morning and Happy Friday :D

sicne I found all of you I find myself wanting to work harder and eat even smarter thank you so much!!! I want to follow IP 100% but I wanted to find out if there are a couple things I do that make me not quite there.

I have at least 3 24oz waters but sometimes I add Mio liquid water enhancer to one of them to break up the flavor situation it is made with sucralose and is 0/0/0

I will have a second cup of coffee with 1oz dairy a few times a week

I have a diet Pepsi once a week or so

I really want this but I also don't want to make it harder then it needs to be so if I could get any input or ideas I am all ears. Also is there a thread for "what we ate today" I will be much more accountable to you then to a little paper booklet my coach never asks to see. I can't wait to earn my counter at the bottom so eyou can share in my journey

I love how conscious you are about the process. It bodes well for your success.

Alot of people use the Mio stuff. I used some of the sucralose sweetened drinks and Walden Farms stuff, but when I found I craved more and more sweet stuff, I'd lay off a few days until I felt in control again. Whatever works for you...

The soda is not good. I think it was because it the carbon dioxide used to make it is acidic and it interferes with the alkaline environment that this diet encourages. Once a week is not much, but if you can do without, it'd be even better.

I never did give up my caffeine in tea or coffee, but found that the 1 oz skim was not worth using, so I switched to a chai tea that was delicious without anything, and drank good quality black coffee. You can put some of the sf syrups in too. Anything that is 0/0/0... Just keep drinking the extra water until you float!

Good luck to you!!!

Hey there! I love this board as well :) Becoming an addict, I think!!:dizzy:

My coach suggested Mio to me when I started as well as the Propel Zero packets (no aspertame), which has helped me wean myself off of Crystal Light. If you are interested, the Lemonade is really good and I normally just put 1/2 a packet in my 32 ounce mug, just for a light flavor.

I am not a coffee drinker but I know that my coach says she drinks it throughout the day and just makes sure she has plenty of water to offset the coffee intake. Have you considered using a Sugar Free Creamer in your coffee? I use the Coffeemate SF Hazelnut in my IP chocolate shake and it's so yummy.

I think the big no-no may be the diet soda. That's the only thing that I would say you may have to get rid of :( but maybe over time you'll lose the craving for it!

I also enjoy using Walden Farms products although there are some way better than others, imo. Last night, I had their Honey BBQ sauce with my grilled chicken breast and it was a nice treat!

I was reading a book for coaches in the waiting room yesterday and diet Pepsi is not allowed (I can't articulate the "science" behind the no, but it's a no). Several coaches "allow" mio and it hasn't impacted those who use it (I don't think). My coach never mentioned it and I've never tried it. When I'm in P4 I'll check it out. The skim milk is allowed daily...I don't use it in my 'cause I just wanted this to be over as quickly as possible and I thought it may help if I avoided any of the "allowable" items. Looks like you're doing great! (I'm in CT too.) HI!

I don't think creamers are okay...I'm not setting that in stone hopefully others will weigh in...

Creamers are a no. You are allowed 1 oz of skim milk in your first coffee. Yes, I know, it really has no flavor in a cup of coffee, not to me anyway. I just drank mine black, with a splenda in a couple of the many cups I drink throughout the day. You get used to it.

SO interesting! I was specifically told by my coach that the SF creamer was ok!

Liquid and powdered creamers are so bad for you anyway. Google it. I am in maintenance and use half and half or milk, depending on where I am. During phases 1 and 2, I just used a splenda in my coffee.

Thanks Paint Lady for your knowledge! :)

Just a note on this - that was my plan going into IP because I knew 1oz of milk would never cut it for me. My coach asked me to bring her the label from the container so she could see the ingredients. Apparently there's something in it that attaches itself to cells and the body has a hard time expelling it. I can't remember if it had an impact on weight loss, but it was definitely something she'd rather I not consume from a metabolic standpoint. So she told me she'd rather have me use a bit more milk than the 1oz instead of the sweetener.

Just thought I'd put that out there! I'm sure the impact of using it once in a while is different from how I would have been using it - daily!! :)

Loose the diet Pepsi as it's definitely not allowed on IP and most importantly it's really bad for your body. It's great that you are making the commitment to IP to be 100%; it's the only way to do it.

salmongirl 04-06-2012 11:39 AM

I did not want to give up my coffee and have been using the premade vanilla shake in mine. Took a couple of days to get totally used to but I love it now! I keep it in the fridge and use about 1/4 of it in each cup of coffee. Yum! good luck and keep up the good work. I love this diet..

Paint Lady 04-06-2012 11:52 AM

Just a little reminder too. If it's not on the protocol sheet, it has to be 0/0/0. So, if you are splurging on the creamer, it likely has either carbs or fat. It may be sugar free, but it still has 2 carbs and some fat. In the case of the creamer, it's bad fat, trans fat. There is a science to this diet. Some people will look at the carbs and think, "well it won't kick me out of ketosis." And that is likely correct, but it's not IP approved. Will you still lose weight? Probably. Will it be the most efficient way? No. Will it be 100% OP? No.
